Chauski was so excited, he was thrilled he had finally been matched with a freshling in the big siblings program. One that liked art!! Rock on. He could keep from bouncing as he gathered the supplies from the art cabinet as he waited for the freshling to arrive. Chau didn't know what race they were or if they were male, female, or neither. None of it mattered he was so happy to have a chance to help a young being to grow and learn something. Chauski had worked with teachers and other freshlings wondering on his craft, he didn't have a mentor like some other freshlings had had. He looked out at the soft light coming in from the window in the class art room, no one else was in the art room today and likely wouldn't be for a few more hours. Chau figured they could start working on foot pedal turn-table to make small bowls. Then Chau would have to use the wind charm to help to dry the bowls so they would be ready to paint. This was going to be great, the biggest wait time would be when Chauski needed to find a teacher or caretaker to fire the bowls so they would cure and become sealed and useable. Chau had some much on his mind and he was so hopeful for this meeting, he really hoped the freshling liked up. He finished his set up and sat waiting for the freshling to arrive.

Okay, so Bailey had gotten into a little bit of trouble, but it wasn't even his fault in the first place! He was just covering up for something stupid his sister had done. And because of his lovable twin, he'd gotten thrown into the Big Sibling program. A program he had absolutely no interest in, but apparently the adults thought he could use some kind of role model. So, needless to say, he wasn't all that thrilled looking when he marched into the art room with his notebook tucked under one arm.
He didn't know what to expect when he walked in, but seeing at their was only one other student in the room he had to assume that's the poor soul who he got matched up with in the program. Well, at least he enjoyed art and he'd even gotten some clay out.
He sighed and set his notebook down on the table before crossing his arms. "I'm Bailey...and for the record I didn't want a big sibling...but they stuck me in the program anyway." He looked up at the Junior with a little bit of a glare. Honestly he wasn't all that threatening looking, he was often told he was too cute to look menacing even if he tried. There was at least one time though that another kid had run away from him....

Chauski was so full of hope, then the freshling. Bailey spoke. Well, that was an interesting start. "Who told you, you had to be in the big siblings program?" Chau didn't like the idea of freshlings being booted around and told what to do. "Well, I hope you'll have fun with me anyways now your here. I'm Chauski, but you can call me Chau." He said cheerfully "I have everything set up so we can make stuff with clay, then use the drying charm so we can paint them today and by tomorrow you can take your piece home after the art teacher finishes them in the kiln"

Bailey scoffed a bit, really unsurprised that even his Big didn't know he was getting stuck with a kid who didn't want to be in the program in the first place. Might be a good idea to let someone know that their Little was a bit of a trouble maker. "Ava said I could 'benefit' from the program...." He rolled his eyes a bit and decided maybe he'd play a bit nicer at least. Chauski looked like he'd be sad if he didn't at least try to have some fun. Besides, he honestly did like working with clay.
He set his notebook down on the table and sat down at one of the chairs. "I will...try." He had molded clay with his hands before, but he had never worked with a turn table, which is what it looked like the intent was for today. "How does...this work?" He was pretty sure you used your foot on the peddle and....how fast? He had a feeling this would be messy.

Chau was his bubbly self as she grinned at the mention of Ava "Well if Miss Ava said that you would benefit then you should at least give this a chance, come on." Chau smiled and moved over to the turn table and took the clay out and said "Ok have a seat." He gestured to the turn table and chair set to a freshlings hight. "Ok feel the clay with your hands and get a feel for it. Once your comfortable with the clay, you keep your hands a little wet and use the foot pedal to spin the turn table slowly and work the clay with your hands as you go. I figured we would start with a bowl today." Chau said cheerfully.

Bailey settled into the chair and looked at the clay on the table. He watched what Chau did with his own clay for a bit before trying to figure out what to do on his own. He fiddled with the clay first, trying to shape it a bit on his own first, then he slowly put his foot down on the peddle and watched as the table started to turn. Okay, so he might have gone a bit too fast at first. His bowl was rather deformed looking, but with some work he started to make it look decent enough.
"It is pretty fun at least." Bailey could give him that much at least. Maybe he could turn this into a gift for Lori if it turned out well. Which would mean the bowl should be pink...ugh he hated working with pink!

Chau grinned at least this kid liked art even if he decided that he didn't like Chau that was ok as long Bailey found something to focus his energy on rather than getting into trouble then Chauski would have done his task. He did hope that Bailey would grow to like him a little though. Chau sat down at his own seat and started working on a new bowl, he shaped the edges with practiced ease. Chau loved working with clay, clay in his fur was his favorite feeling. Once he had it the way he wanted it, he waited so he could show Bailey how to make a bowl base.

It took him a bit longer than Chau, but eventually he was happy enough with the shape of his bowl. He was already starting to think about how he could paint it so that Lori would like it. He'd never really given her a piece of his art like this, so hopefully she'd forget that he was mad at her over this whole thing.
"So the base is like this?" He carefully watched Chau make his and try to go along with him as he worked. He was ready to move on to the painting next. That was always the fun part about finishing up a project, getting to see it all finished.

Chau smiled and said "Great job." Then Chau carefully took the bowls and set them on newspaper. Then he activated the wind charm to quickly dry the bowls. Then Chau set up Bailey's bowl and pulled out a bunch of different paint colors for Bailey to pick from. "Ok you can go wild painting." Chau went to go grab a couple of paint smocks so they didn't get too messy. Once he returned he put on his and handed Bailey his. Then Chau sat down and started my painting a blue base then he used the air charm to dry it then started making white swirls and dots on the bowl he made. The colors were still fairly muted and would be till cooked by the teacher.

Bailey sat back and watched as Chau used the wind charms to dry their pots super quickly. He had never done that before. He was always just stuck waiting for them to dry before doing anything else with his models. "I've never seen that before!" Finally he actually sounded like he was enjoying himself a bit.
He picked out a light pink color to be the base color for his bowl, then he put on the paint smock so that he wouldn't mess up his sweater. He carefully painted the bowl, making sure not to miss any area of add too much to any one section. Once he was glad with his coat he waited for Chau to use the charm to dry his bowl again.

Chau smiled happy that he could show Bailey something new. Chau finished his layer then handed Baily the charm and showed him how to use it, he was pretty sure with a junior's help it would be ok. "Ok once you have the paint the way you want it I'll lay the bowls in the safe area and let the teacher know they are ready to bake." Chau said warmly.

Bailey was actually able to use the charm with Chau help, which was really cool. He added some little flowers to the bowl and painted some dots along the bottom and top of the bowl. Hopefully Lori would like it once it was all finished up. He wished he could show it to her now, but he'd have to wait for the teacher to finish it up.
"Well, that was actually kinda fun. Thanks Chau..." They parted ways after that, but Bailey was actually looking forward to seeing him again. Maybe Ava wasn't so wrong about the Big Sibling program. Maybe he's try to get Lori to sign up for it as well. She was actually the one that got him into trouble in the first place.
