Primed and polished, Tonete was the epitome of refined. Groomed to be a goldrider, she had to learn how to handle people and herself in any situation. She knows how to be whimsical even if the mood doesn’t suit her. Which is almost never does now.
When she impressed her beautiful Kucerauth, just as quickly, she was cast aside by those in power as being unworthy for impressing a green instead of the gold they anticipated. She is ungrateful for their casting off so quickly. Viewed has useless her emotions quickly turned hostile. She kept them well hidden from all except for her closest friends, M’che and K’elm.
Tonete snubs those who snubbed her. She shows a casual lack of concern for High Reaches Weyr’s ways and teachings. They are no longer any use to her. She thinks metallics should be much more ascetic in their way of life for all the power they take. Whenever she gets a chance to steal from a metallic deserving of a little less she’ll take it without hesitation.
History:
Her father ran a small hard wood plantation for High Reaches Hold. Her parents both worked as foresters. She had five other siblings, 3 older and 2 younger. Tonete was one of the quieter of her siblings and was content to work in the forest. When one of the family’s aunties wasn’t watching her, she’d follow her parents or older siblings around.
As she grew she was able to help out more, until she began her apprenticeship. She loved tending the trees, but always hated to see them cut down when it came time for culling or harvesting. Tonete had her own private garden that she also tended. She doesn’t much approve of mining that hurts the land and forest.
She had recently gained her journeyman status and was going to travel a bit to see other forests and learn how to take care of them. Tonete travelled with her father to deliver a load of cured wood to High Reaches Hold. There was several blues and greens there that day, but as she often saw dragons flying overhead it didn’t remark as unusual to her. She waited by the load as her father went to haggle.
One of the riders approached her. “Want to go to High Reaches Weyr? My Ohalth says you’d make a very good candidate. Probably a queenrider.” As much as she wanted to travel, the chance to become a dragonrider was too good to pass up. Tonete told her father and travelled immediately to the Weyr.
There she met two other recently new candidates. M’che, K’elm, and Tonete were searched for High Reaches Weyr within four sevendays of each other. The three quickly fell in with each other as candidates and formed their own tiny close-knit group.
Much of their free time was spent together, and as many lessons and chores were spent together as possible. Tonete was believed to have the potential to impress a gold and was groomed for when that fateful date occurred. She hated the lessons, as she had to spend time away from her group, but put up with it as a means to make all their lives better when it finally did happen.
Clutches were laid and dragons hatched, but none of the trio found their dragons. If there was one comfort it was that they were together. Two Turns after their candidacy began, three very important dragons burst shell. The dragonets had been spaced out among the eggs. They came together and headed directly for their chosen trio.
The new riders wouldn’t have changed their dragons for anything, but life soon went downhill for them. Particularly Tonete was hard hit; once a favored student, now a scorned non-entity green rider. Each one found reasons to be dissatisfied with their present situation. Their bond among them never wavered though.
Hatchlings became weyrlings, and over time weyrlings became adults. During their training, the trio hatched a daring plan. Once their dragons could fly and they learned how to go between they were leaving. A turn passed slowly. They learned, gathered supplies, and information. Then it was time. They said they were going to hunt their beasts for sport and never returned.
Going from M’che’s knowledge they traveled down the coast then island hopped until they found one that suited their needs and hid them well. As their supplies ran low they commandeered what they wanted. Sometimes it was from ships, other times from landbound places. Over the past several Turns, they have begun collecting other unsatisfied or rogue riders.
When thread began falling again, it was without warning. Tonete was annoyed that Thread would pick now to fall! Of all the Sharding times it could have picked. It now ranks right up there with gold and bronze riders on her s**t list. Their ranks and supplies were decimated. As they didn’t have enough firestone to properly fight thread, it was a battle to pull their dragons away. Some were lost, and others fled back to the safety of the Weyrs. She would never suffer to return to a Weyr. Tonete laughs at those unprepared more than they. She delights in seeing them scramble for what help they can get, and mocks the golds and bronzes that are supposed to be all powerful.

Name: Kucerauth
Age: 4 Turns
Color: Green
Size: 21’3”
Physical Description:

Personality:
Kucerauth doesn’t give a damn about what you think. If she wants to lay here on this rock, then not you or thread is going to stop her! Too bad if you wanted to lay there, you weren’t fast enough and possession is 10/10ths of the law here.
She is initially hostile to outsiders; particularly of metallic colors. A little bribery does a long way with her. Get on her good side, and you might be rewarded.
