One minute Erion had been enjoying the Hallow's Eve festival with his sister, and then the next moment everything around him was chaos. He had decided to go into a mirror maze on his own, Eilwen had problems with them because of her eyesight, though he honestly just thought she was bad with mazes. He could hear the sirens and announcement coming over speakers from inside.

Suddenly, this maze was harder than it ought to be. Other kids, older and younger, were running around and past him, turning him around and making him utterly confused. Thankfully a staff member came into help direct him out, but he couldn't find Eilwen around anywhere. He knew she couldn't have left him on purpose.

"Eilwen!" He called out, but everyone seemed to be yelling and people were running in every sort of direction. People knew you were supposed to stay calm in these situations right? Some people tried to stop to help him, but he refused it all, certain he'd find Eilwen on his own. Somewhere along the line though a 'helpful' stranger had taken a hold of his hand and started to lean him to a safehouse with the rest of his family. He was crying at this point, but he couldn't just run off. If something bad was going to happen, he couldn't stay out in the open. Eilwen would feel terrible if something had happened to him.

Once they got to the safehouse, certainly not all that impressive, he broke away form the family that had taken him in and found a table to hide under. He sat down and pulled his knees to his chest. This was awful, did Eilwen at least make it somewhere safe? Surely she was at the Academy, that had to be the safest place to be. Hopefully if he just stayed under this table he'd be okay....

User ImageAll she had really wanted was a nice evening out to give her brother a break. Vanna had been working hard lately and whenever she saw him he had massive circles under her eyes. She had gone to his second in command Yami and they had worked up a plan to give Vanna a night off. Yes she knew exactly what her brother did. Sure he was a Crime Lord or a Mafia boss but he also held to the traditions that started the mafia family. To help those the police wouldn’t or could help. Of course he did the other stuff to that she didn’t really care to think about.

So when the haunted hallows erupted into chaos, her heart sank along with it. All she had wanted was a fun evening. Now everyone was panicking and running and before she knew it she had been separated from Vanna, Kingston, and Ren. She knew they would be okay but she worried about Ren. She tried to get to him but that was when she saw a familiar flash of blue. Eilwen was nowhere in sight and everyone was being directed towards different places. What if Eiron ended up on his own? Ren could handle himself in a pinch but no matter how brave Eiron was he was still a freshling. Decision made up she switched her destination.

“Excuse me. Excuse me. I need to get to that little boy.”
Mai demanded. When it looked like she was about to be taken on a carriage that would lead her to the academy, She shoved with all her strength and broke free, darting towards the crowds. After what seemed like hours but really was only ten minutes she collapsed against a wall in the safe house. She was pretty sure Eiron was in the safe house, but right now she needed to abscond with a charger, and prepare herself for the inevitable blowup that would be Vanna calling her when things calmed down. If they calmed down.

It was there she saw the familiar flash of blue again. From her vantage point on the ground she spotted Eiron under the table easily. Well maybe finding a charger would have to wait. Her phone had at least some juice left on it. “Hey Eiron, it’s me Mai.” Oh wait, what if he didn’t recognize her. Not many people tended to remember her other than the ‘boys’ and those who were friends with her brother. Ah she could use her brother “Vanna’s little sister”

Erion was trying to block out all the noise around him, didn't these people understand it would be better to stay quiet at a time like this? They should be staying vigilant and keeping an eye out for anything strange, but no. Everyone was just in a panic. His own mind was flustered too, he knew his sister had some health problems. Was she okay? He hoped she wasn't crying somewhere right now. He certainly was crying....

He heard his name then and looked up with teach filled eyes to spy a gold and black Chimera. He had a feeling he had seen her before and her name did sound familiar. When she mentioned Vanna she had more of his attention. Vanna was Eilwen's brother in the Big Sibling program. At first he hadn't liked the idea of his sister having another brother, but with time he had realized Vanna was actually a very nice Chimera and must have helped his sister a lot in her time at the Academy without him.

"I feel safer under here..." He was worried about leaving the 'safety' of his table behind. He didn't want some stranger snatching him up again and taking him somewhere, even if that place was supposedly safe He hated being treated like a child who needed to be bossed around. Not that he thought Mai was trying to boss him around...really he was just hurt that he'd been separated from Eilwen.

"I lost Eilwen..." He pouted some more, his eyes teared up some more.

Mai had to sigh at the way the room was reacting. The people on the screen weren’t scary. Oh yes they were dangerous but Mai was the sister of a Mafia boss. It would take more than that to scare her. Besides all worrying ever did was give you something to do. It didn’t get you anywhere but… saying that in her head and truly believing it was another story. One thing she was certain on, their panic was making it hard to concentrate on what she needed to. Which was make sure Eiron was safe and get her phone charged.
She was glad Vanna’s name seemed to spark recognition. However now that she had Eiron in her sights and recognition was established some of those worries she was trying to ignore invaded their way in. Was she really the person to watch after Eiron? She had just seen him all by himself and in a rare moment let rashness take over her decision. She should have just pointed him out to Vanna instead. No, that wouldn’t help her or the Freshling sitting under the table. She had made the decision and she would stick with it. After all Vanna was her brother and he dealt with scary a** people all day. This was no different than visiting him at his home or at his office.

“Well then we’ll stay right where we are. It’s important to feel safe”
Mai stated and got herself comfy in case she would be sitting next to the table for a while. She was kind of hoping to grab a comfier couch or something but looking around none of the couches looked like they would be quite comfortable for a Chimera wing span. Sure it was kind of dirty down here but was it any worse than when she worked with flowers?

“I lost Vanna too”
Mai admitted, “but I bet they’ll be safe. Both Vanna and Eilwen are really smart so we have to remain safe for them”

Erion felt a little bit better with Mai so close. At least someone he knew was with him in this strange place, with whatever was going on outside. He didn't pay attention to the broadcast. He couldn't see any of them from his position anyway. Whatever had happened, it seemed to have people worried. He just didn't want some adult to snatch him up again. It was their fault he was separated from Eilwen!

"They are really smart...." He knew his sister would be okay, or at least he hoped that she would be. He was scared on his own though and he knew Eilwen had a hard time with stressful situations. He could hope that she was with someone she knew, someone to help keep her calm. Had she ended up at the Academy?

It took him a while to calm down enough to feel comfortable enough to leave the safety of his table. He pushed out one of the chairs and crawled back out to sit next to Mai.

"Do you think...we'll be okay?" He looked toward Mai with concern in his eyes. He'd never been in a situation like this before. It was one thing to practice safety in classes and during school, it was something else entirely when something dangerous actually happened.

Hmm well the plug wasn’t near enough but she wasn’t going to move from this spot either. Luckily for her last birthday Ren had gotten her one of those portable charge thingies and she just hooked her phone up to there. One problem was out of the way. The other problem actually earned some looks from the adults.
She knew that it must look a bit weird; a chimera freshling under a table and herself just sitting on the floor. She waved away any help and just smiled at the adults that gave her weird looks.

Soon enough though Erion finally came out of the table, Mai had to smile though. Hopefully he felt a little bit calmer.

“We will be okay.” Mai replied with a smile. “It looks like we have some capable adults here and if anything does break into the safe house… well I’ll just beat them up”. Honestly she wasn’t so sure they would be, but she wasn’t lying when she said she’d definitely do something if whatever was out there managed to break into the safe house. Eilwen wasn’t here to look after Erion so Mai would just do it for her. Mai knew she didn’t look like much but she was Vanna’s sister through and through.
