Treetopia is a city that lies directly above the Kingdom of the Dead. The Mayor of Treetopia (who is a tree person) received a warning that the Army of the Dead was going to attack the city. The people of Treetopia are a peaceful lot, so they can't fight back.
But as the Mayor tells you, if the Skylanders can hold off the army all night, they will leave and never come back once the sun rises, as because of the alignment of the planets or some such nonsense, this is the only night they can come to the land of the living.
As the sun starts to go down, the mayor quickly beckons you forward...

"Thank you for coming, Skylanders," the mayor said. "I was afraid that we would have to fend for ourselves!" He was a squat little tree gnome, and had large, nervous eyes. "So here's the deal. I've had all of the citizens of Treetopia evacuate their homes and fortify themselves inside city hall, as it's our only safe haven. I've boarded up the place, but they won't last against a prolonged attack. If too many zombies and monsters get through, we lose.
"Now about the Dead Army itself. It consists mostly of zombies and skeletons. They will appear all over the main square and down some of the alleys. The zombies are slow, but powerful, and the skeletons are fast but weaker. All you have to do is hold them off until the sun rises precisely at six am. If you do that, then I will reward you and the city will forever be in your debt."
He looked up to the sky. The sun had almost set by now, and he glanced back at the city hall. "I have to go and comfort my people now," he told the Skylanders. "Good luck Skylanders. My people are counting on you!" Then he quickly ran into the hall and the doors locked behind them, leaving the Skylanders to wait for the coming together.

Flynn stared after the mayor as he retreated, hearing the door being boarded up inside. He turned to the others.
"Well that was... abrupt," he noted.

Blue Titania stared after the mayor before turning to Flynn, a serious look in her eyes.
"He needed to be quick," she stated without emotion. "They'll be arriving soon and he was scared." The warrior looked at the others. "We should go over our strategy before the Dead Army arrives so there will be no panic."

Thunder yawned.
"I don't know," he muttered, "I was just going to kick them until they gave up."
"That doesn't sound very practical," Lapis pointed out from where she stood next to Steven.
"Eh, it's what I do," Thunder replied, shrugging.

Blue turned to Thunder with an annoyed look.
"Thunder," Blue said to him. "You're the fastest out of all of us. I think you should take the alleys and stop them from getting near. Steven, you stay nearest to the main hall and use your shields to defend it."

Thunder nodded and turned away, heading towards one of the alleys. But before he disappeared, he called over his shoulder.
"Whatever you say, babycakes!"

Flynn stared after Thunder with wide eyes. Why did he always have to make trouble for himself? Sighing, he turned to Blue.
"Ignore him," he said to her, "What's the rest of your plan?"
He silently prayed to himself that Thunder would be okay.

Blue stared outraged after Thunder but was snapped back into reality by Flynn's voice.
"Asura," she said, turning to the blue dragon. "You should take to the air and tell us where the undead are, and make sure none of them try and sneak up to the hall. You can use your powers to take out the ones furthest from Thunder as well. As for the rest of us, we will stay in the main square and make sure none of them pass us. Some of us can guard the back of city hall as well. Then we just have to keep up our stamina until the sun rises. Any questions?" she ended her plan with a look around the group.

Lapis nodded in understanding with the others, then put a gentle hand on Steven's shoulder.
"Steven, please stay near me," she told him, just a hint of worry in her voice, "I don't want to lose you." She was deathly afraid that fighting all night would exhaust him and the undead would rip him apart. She wanted to be nearby in case something happened.

Steven turned to look at Lapis.
"Don't worry, Lapis," he told her. "I'll be staying near the town hall. I think if I concentrate, I could put a bubble around the entire town hall! What do you think?"

Lapis forced herself to smile. She put an arm around him and gently pressed him to her side, in an almost loving way.
"Just don't push yourself too hard," she said to him quietly.

Asura immediately took to the air and soared over the town. The sun hid itself behind the horizon, and an otherworldly moan began to slowly rise. Slowly but surely, zombies and skeletons pulled themselves from the earth, mostly near the entrance of the town, some scattered throughout the streets.
"Here they come!" Asura called to his companions. He felt a cold sweat begin to form under his scales. Even from far away the undead army was terrifying. They weren't the cute things that the Skylanders were used to. These things had seemed to jump right out of a horror story. "Thunder!" he called. "A cluster of them are forming to the south east!"

Thunder, who had been trotting around, looked up at the sound of Asura's call.
"Neigh?" he replied, "I'm on it!" Rearing up, he charged towards the south east, as his form changed into that of Zap, his skylander form.
As soon as he saw the first few zombies, he let loose a blast of lightning.

The skeletons that had begun to rise were instantly vaporized by Thunder's blast, but the zombies didn't seem to take any notice and started slowly shuffling forward, moaning and groaning.
