Personality: Luiciand is idealistic, and believes in noble principles as well as proper ways to behave. He isn’t always the best at it, but he tries to be debonair, courteous, and sophisticated. He is faithful, if a bit sarcastic, to his friends, and he is steadfast in his beliefs.
Luiciand believes in the caste systems of dragonriders and holders. He also believes that he is high up in the chain. He recognize that he is not at the top, yet, but he will get there. Proud and believing in his importance, he does look down on certain others, such as greenriders and holdless. Luiciand is calculating and always looking for the way to better his life, though he can be gracious, if it suits him. Also, Luiciand is critical of others, and himself, ready to find fault and judge. All in all, he is a conflicted teenager that believes in good but isn’t good at being good yet.
History: Luiciand was born into a mercenary minor hold called Bane. His father was the son of the Captain, but his father died while he was young. He never lacked a paternal figure as he had both his grandfather and all the members of the company. He grew up learning to fight and learning the meaning of integrity. He isn’t built for heavy fighting and favors the lighter weapons, but can and has wielded a broadsword when called to do so.
When the time came for him to choose if he wanted to be an apprentice somewhere, he asked to be a starcrafter and as the company always needs cartographers and navigators, he was told yes. Luiciand was sent to the starcraft hall, where he got into trouble at times with his critical nature and unwillingness to let injustices go. He got into fights, that he often won as the other children didn’t have his sort of fighting training, and was basically told that if he broke another nose he would be out.
Thankfully for him, he got searched soon after and didn’t have to go back the the Bane and explain why he got kicked out of the Hall. He never thought of being a dragonrider, but idealized them so when offered the chance took it without thought. He went to High Reaches Weyr which was really for the best for him. That is where the leader of the Bane was basically stationed and while he knew he wouldn’t be able to always use that to his advantage, it was there. Of course it also meant that if he misbehaved too much he would get weapons training that was really him being wacked around.
Sadly, while he was at High Reaches, his Grandfather died in battle and a new leader was chosen. She was a brownrider, and he has grudging respect for her. As a brownrider she is higher in the hierarchy but female she should not be, so he is conflicted. He was sad for the death of his grandfather yet not devastated as death was not a new thing to him and he expected it to happen at some point. ,He was also a little put out that a woman was taking up the Captaincy, but he also knew that she was good at what she did.
Shortly after that Thread fell, and he had to think hard and long about what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. People he knew died both in the fall and the attempts to fight it by the dragonriders. Did he want to be someone that put their life on the line constantly for others? There were pros and cons to both options, and the choice to follow the higher path and be a dragonrider that saved lives won out.
Other: He can fight well for his age, and prefers the rapier and bow and arrow.
