When Newgrange went out that night, he wasn't hunting anyone in particular. He was just trying to do the same thing he did every night--make Destiny City a little safer.
It was either fluke or destiny that he wound up running into Cavansite.
He had known who his sister was talking about the moment she had told him about the horrible Negaverse agent she had run into. His own run in with her had not been so terrible, but he was not in the mood to forgive Cavansite.
She had attacked him, from behind, their first meeting. Threatened to take his starseed. Threatened to kill him.
He was not afraid of her. He was afraid for his poor, traumatized sister, but she wasn't here.
Which was good, because he didn't want her to see this.
Newgrange had kept to the rooftops but now that he had spotted the Captain, he dropped down in front of her. His fist was already curled before he landed and he drew back his hand and punched her, as hard as he could, in the face.
There was no introduction, no warning.
She didn't deserve as much.

For once in her life, Cavansite was minding her business. For once she wasn’t out to cause that much trouble, she just wanted the boost of speed getting home since her car was in the shop, plus she kept warmer when she was powered up for some reason. But, for once in her life she wasn’t expecting any trouble, but of course, when you’re not expecting trouble, that’s the day you’re always going to get it, no matter what. Of course, today, her trouble consisted of a punch in the face.
Right in the face. No warning, no nothing…and honestly the energy signature seemed to come from nowhere as well.
“What the ******** hell?” Damn, that hurt. She tasted blood, and spat out a mouthful onto the ground. She didn’t think any teeth got loose, and thank goodness he hadn’t hit her in the nose or the eye…she was far too pretty for that, but her lips were split, she could feel that…and something in her mouth was bleeding.
When she was able to take a second to take stock of herself, it seemed that she had bit her cheek, hard. Not the worst thing that could have happened, but still a pain.
Her spear was summoned to her hand after she got her wits back about her and she turned to look at the idiot who had the audacity to hit her.
“Oh. It’s you. Earth Knight. Didn’t I tell you what I would do to you the next time I saw you? I thought you would have had the sense not to approach me again, and yet here you are…” She spat out another mouthful of blood and wiped at her lips.
“…Punching me.” The words were said dryly and she glared at the brunette. “And, pray tell, why did you do that?”

Newgrange's face was impassive, but there was an anger that radiated from him. He didn't seem afraid of her--or her spear, despite his lack of similar weapon.
"I don't think you need me to explain that to you. You've got quite an extensive history of causing trouble. I'm tired of it."
He doubted she was the sort to be intimidated--but then, he wasn't the sort to get angry and lash out. Usually.
"I don't think asking nicely is going to change your mind so I won't bother. So I'll keep this short: Reassess your behavior. Any time I hear another Knight, another Senshi, utter your name and deeds, I will hunt you down, and I will remind you that there are people in this world that will not stand for your evil."
He was prepared to strike again, but there was a small part of him that wanted to see her fold, that wanted to see her apologize, or tell him how much she desperately wanted out of the Negaverse.
He wanted, but did not expect.
He expected this to end in blood.

Spitting out another mouthful of blood, Cavansite sneered, the sight a gruesome one. He wasn’t bluffing. What had changed with this stupid, timid cowardly knight to suddenly make him full of such bravado and calm and authority? She didn’t know, but she wasn’t a fan of whatever it was.
It wasn’t easy to hold on to her own bravado while others weren’t cowering in fear, or blustering themselves to three times their size, even then…it was just bluster. This…this was different.
This was strength.
Her eyes narrowed and she stood up straighter, holding her spear just slightly angled towards him—more of a warning than anything. “And what, little knight, prompted this change in you? Have I attacked someone dear to you, because if I recall, the last time we fought, there was nothing but fear in your eyes, and now, well. Now that fear has turned to contempt, and I for one, am not a fan of contempt.”
Her mind whirled, trying to figure out what his weakness could have been, for nothing but her targeting someone important could make him this focused. Perhaps one of the civilians she had taken the starseed from was his sweetheart? Or something along those lines. Regardless, she knew she would find out.
And next time, if this weakness was something that she hadn’t already taken care of…well. She would make sure to take care of it.
And him.

His eyes narrowed and darted to the spear and then her face. He was stoic and full of disdain for her and her weapon, but he did not flinch as she pushed it nearer to hi.
"Are you listening to me?" he asked, instead of answering her question. "What changed in me is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is that you change. Do you expect to attack me with that?" he asked, finally addressing her weapon. "Stop waving it in my face if you don't want me to attack you again."
There was no teasing. Newgrange was overprotective, and Cavansite was a danger. Agents like Cavansite were dangerous to everyone he cared about. If he could do anything to get her to reconsider her actions, he would.
Even if that meant hurting her.
She had given Carlee nightmares.
He could do the same.

Cavansite’s eyebrows shot up, and were nearly obscured by her bangs. She gave a grin, trying to keep up her level of confidence. But, she knew that he wasn’t kidding, and she would have to get out of her…but she had to shake him a little, at least…she couldn’t leave without doing at least that much. So, clearly she needed a plan…though, clearly she did have the edge.
Scare him and get the hell out of there. It wouldn’t be too hard.
“And why would I ever change? That’s silly. A leopard can’t change its spots, why would I want to change who I am, what I like to do. I like hurting, I like killing, I like scaring people out of their wits. It’s fun, little knight. And I won’t ever stop, and I assure you, that you will never be able to stop me either, you won’t be able to stop any of us.”
She grinned again, feeling herself grow more impassioned at her words. “It’s stupid to try.”
The captain lunged then, kicking herself off from the ground, her hand aimed at his chest, grabbing for the shiny piece of metal that was there. She wasn’t after a starseed, honestly she wasn’t quite sure she’d ever have made it that far without him punching her again, but she hadn’t stolen anything personal in a while, and this seemed like a good thing to take, so take she did.
And teleport she did. There was no way she was going to stick around for any longer, she had spent enough time with his fist, thank you very much.

The shadow of a sneer appeared on Newgrane's face, but it was fleeting and gone in a blink. Instinctively, his hand rose to race over the now bare fabric. He didn't spend enough time in front of the mirror to be particularly affected by the thievery, but it was the principle of it.
She was gone before he had the time to strike again, for which he was secretly grateful. He didn't want to hurt her. He only wanted her to learn her lesson--and clean up her act.
It didn't seem like she had any intention of that, though.
Newgrange grimaced and stood a little straighter.
He didn't feel like he'd have any choice but to keep pursuing her.
And he was going to do anything he could to keep his sister--and Destiny City--safe.
