While Wolfeite did not spend every waking hour in the Rift, he did tend to spend more time there than usual these days. It kept him occupied, the vast, unknown, untouchable place; he could have taken days, weeks, months, years to explore it all; and he was never without a fight, the youma infesting every scrap of every inch of it, a fight for his life as well as theirs.

It was an exhilarating rush, and he loved it - as much as someone like him could love anything - but there was something to be said about being able to fight someone who could talk back to you. Fighting Aue had been - well, enlightening, to say the least. Wolfeite needed the contact with others as much as he could, even if he wasn't nearly fool enough to think that any of them would be as worthwhile his time as others.

He called Tourmaline, because she was less annoying than the Corrupt, and slightly more aggravating than the others, Wolfeite waiting in an abandoned building on the edge of the city, lounging on a windowsill with shattered glass panes.

When he sent her the address she had pondered teleporting there. It was an abandoned building that she'd been to once or twice before on her own-- Once or twice just for a quiet place to contemplate and another two or three times to be reckless and destructive. A handful of the windows were broken from her tantrums and there were tire marks around the building where she had practiced taking turns far sharper than one should on a motor bike.

She didn't arrive by teleportation because she didn't know what to expect of an invitation from Wolfeite. If she was in for trouble she wanted to be at full capacity and not partially drained from having expended energy to reach the destination faster. Even without teleporting she had a few energy orbs stashed in her subspace pocket along with a starseed, for emergencies. Without his lease she didn't know if the wolf could be trusted...

Can you?

"Shut up," she growled softly, teeth gritted as she got off her bike, tucking it into a safe location before scouting the area for a trace of his presence. She caught the energy signature somewhere up above her, tilting her head to the sky before calling out clearly. "Not in the mood to play hide and seek! Come out, come out wherever you are... Or I'll huff and puff and blow your house down."

He was hungry, of course; but the hunger extended mostly to violence when it came to people like Tourmaline or Dia. Possibly he could ask for more from them, but it seemed unlikely, and he had extraordinarily little desire to deal with the two pink twins and all of their dramas.

Not that he'd even heard of any dramas, but they seemed the sort to be involved in drama as it was.

Wolfeite had gotten up to prowl through the building, ears up and alert, the tattered hem of his uniform brushing against his legs as he walked. He hadn't seen or heard Tourmaline teleport in, but the wolf in him allowed for heightened senses as it was, which meant that he could hear the bike as it rumbled to a stop outside. One ear swiveled in the direction of the sound, and Wolfeite straightened, coming to a halt at a nearby window ledge.

He went back to the windowsill he'd been lounging in and leaned out, golden eyes flashing as he caught sight of the captain down below.

"Get up here already," Wolfeite growled.

"So impatient," Tourmaline huffed, staring at the window for a moment before taking a running leap towards the metal scaffolding of a fire escape. She pulled herself up with a grunt, using a bit of her super strength to make the acrobatics easier. She needed to limber up and hone her skills, even if it meant growing up and using some of her extra money for things other than her bike and car-- Tumble classes, flexibility and fighting. Strength. She needed to be stronger, mentally and physically.

"If you'd told me you were bringing me to such a romantic location I might have brought us dinner." Her words came as she pulled herself up onto the ledge beside him, sitting comfortably for a moment to catch her breath with her legs dangling out over the side. "Are you hungry, Wolfeite?"

A dark brow rose as Tourmaline leapt up into the windowsill, Wolfeite taking just enough of a step back so that she wouldn't run into him in the process. He looked as he always did whenever he was around other people - in other words, thoroughly unimpressed with anything and everything. Even Tourmaline, who was a part of their little group, received no special treatment, and neither did the others.

Mostly because Wolfeite didn't care.

"Don't be vile," he said now, lip curling in disgust. The mask had been pulled down, and was now tangled around his neck, leaving his blackened face fully visible, teeth sharp in the silvery moonlight, glinting every time that he spoke. "Romance is a shitty thing that people make up. And if I wanted to ********, then I would be doing exactly that now, instead of playing games."

He was deliberately crude, because he was impatient, and Wolfeite's eyes flickered towards the Captain -

- as without a word, he threw himself towards her, fist swinging in the direction of her stomach.

He went straight for the stomach as everyone always did-- It was becoming laughably predictable, really, and she wanted to let Captain Wolfeite know that. Fortunately for him, she also wanted to defend herself.

Tourmaline sprang back, putting just a bit of distance between them again. She would have to close the space in order to fight him properly, of course, but she wasn't ready for that just yet. Neither of them were ranged fighters so it gave her a chance to taunt the wolf just a bit more, eyes gleaming at the delightful prospect of the danger she was in.

"You're right. Romance is a shitty thing. But the chase? The hunt? The trap... I thought you knew how to hunt."

The stomach was easy, really; a tender part of the body that caused a great deal of distress and pain when hit properly - although Tourmaline was right in that it was a default move for him. How many times had he been told not to be predictable, after all?

She had leapt out of the way, and Wolfeite kept going, stalking forward towards her, gold eyes glinting in the silvery moonlight wafting in through the window. A feral, toothy grin spread manically across his face, a low snarl resonating from deep within his chest.

"I know how to hunt better than all of you," Wolfeite growled, and lunged.

"Then teach me." She snapped back at him as she braced herself to catch him as he lunged at her, striking out with a slashing swipe of her own. Fighting against him was different than facing off against any of the others she had crossed paths with lately. She had to stay alert, knowing that he would take advantage of every misstep.

Tourmaline should have been afraid as he snarled and growled. His teeth could tear her apart if she so much as stumbled. Curling her other hand into a fist she took a swing at him, aiming to knock the toothy grin from his face and fully expecting him to catch her by the wrist instead.

He couldn't help the faint flicker of mingled surprise and amusement that came across his face just before he almost collided with her. Tourmaline's hand streaked out, slashing, and her claws tore strips out of the front of his uniform, Wolfeite giving a snarl, grinding his teeth together, tail flicking back and forth behind him.

Her punch narrowly missed his face, but it landed on his shoulder as he twisted away from it, propelling him sideways. Wolfeite staggered, sliding, and relished the pain of impact, pivoting back onto his feet and swinging his leg up abruptly in an attempt to roundhouse kick her.

"You want me to teach you to hunt?"

There was no way for Tourmaline to avoid the kick. She'd gotten too close and that was something that she was going to have to simply deal with. As she skidded across the concrete floor she was immensely grateful for the long duster protecting her legs from scrapes and cuts from the debris littering the ground.

She pushed herself up on her palms, still fiercely glaring at the wolf as she shifted back to her feet, staying in a low crouch so that she could both protect the side he'd caught with the kick and be ready to move again. She hoped she had his interest enough that he couldn't come immediately after her again, giving her a chance to get words out.

"Yes. ********, isn't it obvious? I'm not built the way the others are. My claws aren't suddenly going to transform into a massive ******** sword. I need to learn to fight like you-- Like the deadly, talented wolf you are." She was stretching, trying to appeal to him. "Beware the Jabberwock, my son. The jaws that bite, the claws that catch." Her voice took on a singsong quality at the recitation of the poem, a grin curving her lips. "Teach me to be the claws to your jaws, Wolfeite. Think of what we could do."

He felt a savage, vindictive pleasure at the sound of his foot connecting with her side, Wolfeite snarling in response to the crash of Tourmaline's body onto the floor. He straightened and slid back, feet apart to balance himself properly, his entire body tensed and ready to continue.

He knew flattery when he heard it, but that did not mean that it wasn't effective. Wolfeite's lips drew back into a sneering sort of smile, dark eyes glinting as he hovered there, bent over slightly, clawed hands careful at his sides in order to be ready to pounce at any second.

It was not an unappealing prospect. Wolfeite enjoyed the idea of people beneath him, after all; and while Tourmaline was, for the most part, apparently at his own level of Captaincy, he had something she did not.

A rough sound escaped.

"What will you give me in return?"

Her eyes narrowed as she watched him, slowly pushing herself up out of her own crouched position so that she could stand, crossing her arms over her chest. "I'm sure as hell not going to sleep with you," she snorted, uncrossing her arms before slowly stalking towards him.

"Teach me-- Train me and I'll deliver one starseed a month directly into your hand. If you can help me learn how to fight like a youma without becoming one we could do incredible things together. On top of the starseeds I would also owe you, personally. Wolfeite, please. Do you really think I would ask this of someone like you if there was anyone else I thought was capable of helping me?"

He was still tensed, as though preparing for more, tail flicking back and forth slowly behind him, ears flat back against his wild head of hair. Tourmaline had straightened, less of a fighting stance, but Wolfeite was as wary and hungry as ever, his gaze narrowing slightly.

Her offer was extraordinarily tempting, he couldn't deny that. Wolfeite slowly unfolded himself from the rigid posture of battle and eased into something a little more relaxed, though no less prepared in case she was setting out to fool him. After a few moments of contemplation, his ears rose back into their upright position.

"....all right," said Wolfeite at last. "If you give me a starseed every month, I will teach you how to hunt like me."

His mouth stretched wide into a savage grin, all sharp teeth and greed.

"And when you manage to break down those Order brats, it will be extremely satisfying."

"I look forward to it." She spoke plainly, lips curving into the slightest of smiles while her eyes watched him, bright and steady. "Tomorrow. Here. Same time. I'll come properly prepared for our first round." A first aide kit would be a necessity, and she would have to consider bringing someone else who would have enough interested in watching without interfering to make sure neither of them went too far until she'd built her strength up to where it should be for keeping paces with someone like Wolfeite.

"Here's your first one." She reached into the subspace pocket that she used for storing energy, mostly, drawing out a shimmering starseed. She let it glitter in her hand for a moment, ignoring the way it called to her as though popping it into her own mouth would somehow soothe all of her problems. Her nose wrinkled at the glistening gem before she tossed it to the wolf, knowing well that her throw was good and he wouldn't let it fall-- It was too precious to waste.

"Tomorrow, Wolfeite! I'll see you then."

With that she teleported back out to her bike, starting up quickly so that she could be on her way before either one of them had a chance to change their mind about their deal. It was going to hurt, certainly, but it would be so worth it in the end.
