Kalli stood with her hands on her hips as she glared out at her son. Or at least one of them. The other one was hopefully with his dad like he was supposed to be. Just like Jax was supposed to be. "Jax! Do not make me get your dad! Get out of that tree. Now!" Having twin boys had been a surprise to her. A nice one but still a surprise. She had thought that she would end up with a cute, gentle little girl. Apparently Hatald thought it would be funny to give her two rough and tumble boys instead.

"Is your brother up there with you?" Kalliope needed to know if she had to yell her other son's name as well.

She moved closer to the tree, having to lean her head back so that she could look up at her young one. "I mean it, Jax. If I have to get your father you will be grounded." The Oban dancer huffed.

His small hands fit perfectly on the branch as he dangled from it and swung his body back and forth. Jax was laughing and having fun, that was until he heard his mother. There was a visible wince as he flinched just a little and looped his legs up over the branch so that he could hang upside-down from it. His silvery hair fell and he grinned at his mom. "Aww Mama, c'mon! Is jus' a tree." From the way he spoke it was clear he took after his father more so than his dancer mother.

When he was asked if his brother was with him he let go of the branch with his hands and hung purely by his legs, gaining a gasp from Kalli, and made a shrugging motion. "He a' sposed ta be." Or at least he had hoped his brother would have joined him for some fun but as it was he was alone in the tree now.

When she saw her son let go of the tree she felt her stomach bottom out as her heart went into her throat and she gasped. "JAX!" She would never get used to the boy doing that. She worried he wouldn't have the strength to keep hold and would fall to the ground.

Still, knowing that Djego wasn't in the tree with him made it a little easier on her heart. So she pointed at the ground near her feet. "You get down here right now. Since you didn't want to stay with your dad you can get a bath." Kalli nodded her head as though that were a fitting punishment for the boy.

A loud groan came from him as he reached up and took hold of the branch. Once he was sure his grip would last he released his legs and swung down so that he could drop to a lower branch. Jax knew his mother hated it when he swung around in the trees but it was always so fun! As he reached a low enough branch he simply leaped to the ground, bending his knees when he landed, and had to put his hands out to keep from face planting into the dirt. "Da's not doin' anya thing. Climbin' in a tree ain't hurtin' nothin'." He fussed as he stood and dusted his hands off on his knees.

With a look from his mom he rolled his eyes but walked over to her. "Yess'm." He knew that look. If he kept arguing then he'd not get dessert.

With Jax on the ground, though not in the manner of which she had been hoping for, she relaxed a little. Of course his arguing only made her give a stern look. Kalliope might let him speak like Ouen but she wouldn't have him give her sass. As he drew closer she noticed that he had a streak of dirt going across one cheek. "Did you roll in the dirt before you got in the tree too?" There was a sigh and shake of her head before she brought her hand up and licked the pad of her thumb.

Before Jax could avoid it she swiped the wet digit across his cheek to try and erase the dirt that was there. Her other hand came around to hold his head in place so that she could apply just a little bit of force. "Yeah, you need a bath."

"Mamaaaa!" Jax whined. It was embarrassing to have her do that type of thing. It was okay when he was a baby but now he was bigger. He didn't need that. Besides, dirt never hurt anyone. Jax never did understand how his mother stayed so tidy he practically attracted dirt as soon as he walked outside.

He pulled away but was caught by her other hand and when he tried to turn his head that didn't work either. "A'right! Stop. I'll get me a bath." His hands came up then to try and shoo hers away.

A small smirk found it's way onto her face as she watched her son's reaction. Kalli had to admit she did enjoy the little moments. "Good. Then you can help me with Lissa." She was still wary of her own familiar but since she had two boys, and Ouen, she frequently had them handle her or feed her so she wouldn't have to.

She patted Jax's shoulder and nodded toward the tent. "Inside so you can get washed up." She had water warming up for them to use even now.

At hearing that he could help feed his mother's keldari he perked up. Jax always had fun with the slithery thing. Though he quickly had a confused look on his face. "Mama, if I'm gonna feed 'er shouldn' we do tha' before I wash?" Jax looked up at his Oban parent. "I can get 'er a big 'ol fat rat ta eat." He emphasized fat by bringing his hands up to show his mother.

Grinning from ear to ear he waited to get the okay from her. If he was allowed then he could go catch one of the rats that hung out near the grain tent. They were too fat to be faster than him.

A slight look of disgust appeared on her face as her son described the type of rat he could get for Lissa. Kalli leaned away and waved her hands in front of her. "Okay, okay. You can go catch a rat for her." A shiver ran down her spine at the thought. Rats. Snakes. They all made her uneasy. It was just her luck that a snake-like creature would pick her as an owner and would in turn eat rats.

Before Jax could escape, however, she grabbed hold of his arm. "Ah ah, use the bin to carry it." And keep it contained. Last thing she wanted was a rat loose in their tent. Kalli pointed toward the woven basket by the opening that was used to carry and store things.

"Yes! To say he was excited about the task was an understatement. Mostly Jax just thought it was cool how the keldari ate. As his mother told him to use a basket to carry the rodent he rolled his eyes but nodded all the same. When he was let go he went to get the basket then headed over to the grain tent to look for a good one to feed Lissa.

In no time at all he spotted the one he wanted and pounced on it. Jax snatched it up by it's tail then tossed it into the basket. He thought about going for another but knew his mother would freak out. Placing the thin lid over the bin picked it up and started to walk back over to his mom.

She watched her little boy go off to get a rat and cringed. Kalliope would have to make sure to scrub his hands extra good. Especially before he ate anything. In a matter of minutes he was walking back toward her with the bin and looking very proud. It was a look that she couldn't help but laugh at. "My little rat catcher." When Jax was close she gently patted him on the head and smiled. "We'll have to see about getting you a perzi." She thought her boy might like that.

He chuckled when his mother patted his head and called him her little rat catcher. As she mentioned something about getting him a perzi a grin formed. Jax had never thought about it but maybe he could have a pet of his own. After all, both of his parents had one. "Wha' 'bout Djego? Think he'd want one?" Maybe he could ask his twin to see what it was that he wanted.

Would be cool if they both had perzi but if his darker skinned brother wanted something else that was fine. Jax moved inside the tent and blinked as his eyes adjusted to the light change. "Lissa. C'mon girl. Time ta eat."

As they entered into their tent she thought about it. Would her other precious boy want a perzi? Or would he want something else? "We'll have to ask him when he gets home." She nodded her head.

Her eyes didn't need as long to adjust since she was used to the dimmer lighting, ironically. So she moved over to the water that was warming and tested the temperature so that she could determine if it was ready or not. Kalliope wanted to make sure it was warm and not cold but she didn't want it to be hot. When she was sure it was safe she pulled it away from the heat of the hot rock she was using to warm it and poured it into the small tub that she used for her boys. "Feed Lissa then into the bath you go."

So his mother was still set on giving him a bath. Ugh. Jax groaned and leaned his head back before moving over to where his mother's familiar usually hung out. When he found her he opened the bin and showed her the rat within. Instantly he had the keldari's attention. The hybrid boy watched as the creature slithered into the basket with her prey then moved away so that he could get washed up.

He wanted to watch the rodent be consumed but if he did then his mom would say he was stalling. Which wouldn't be a lie honestly. He took off what little clothes he had on and stepped into the tub of warm water before he sat down and resigned himself to his mother's grooming.

Even though she thought it was a little too easy to get Jax into the water she wasn't going to question it. Why ruin a good thing? Once he was sitting she set to task on rinsing him off and getting his silvery hair wet. It amazed her that the boys had taken after Ouen so much. Likely a good thing too. "Hm, I guess I did get my wish there." She said out loud.

When Jax's hair was soaked she reached for the natural lye that she used for the boys. Kalli didn't bother with the more smelly soaps since they complained it was too girly. After sudsing up her hands she set to work on washing her son's hair.
