Going on patrol alone probably wasn't in her best interest, considering everything that happened the last few times, but Hydra was determined to prove all those jerks wrong. She was part of something bigger that they couldn't understand and she wasn't wrong or broken just because she existed. She would show them, she would!

Besides, she had tried to reach out to the few people she knew in the Negaverse to patrol with her but the new school semester had just started and August was working and well, she didn't know if Pasi or Axton ran with youma or ran against them, which was so not something she was willing to risk.

So, the short senshi decided she would go it alone and convinced herself that she would be fine. She had magic, she could throw a decent punch and she'd brought her bag, which she'd slipped across her torso after she'd powered up, and it had the mace her dad required her to carry, a goodie bag that she'd save and kept remaking in hopes of seeing that handsome general again who made her feel wanted, useful, amazing.

The night was cold though and Hydra found herself shivering as she walked along the shopping district, streets mostly empty with a few stragglers hurrying to their cars or where ever they were headed.

hope this is okay!

Someone clearly hadn't been thinking of weather and the elements when they'd designed senshi garb, came the idle thought. Obsidian himself had been roaming the mostly empty streets, taking note of patrol routes, be they Negaverser, Knight, or Senshi. The familiar aura of corruption had caught his attention, and it was a most pleasant surprise to see a senshi he'd become acquainted with during Laurelite's glorious ascension.

His hands were tucked in his pockets, and the shaggy-haired general hummed a few off-key notes as he moved through the sparse patches of street light towards the girl. "Sailor Hydra," He called out, almost singsong as a grin let up his face. It didn't reach those green eyes, but that was hardly uncommon anymore. "I think you outta file a complaint to your manager. That outfit's hardly practical. How are you supposed to show off the latest winter trends?"

The redhead didn't quite crowd her space, but comfortably fell in at her side, matching his pace to hers. He had time to kill... and, if he recalled correctly, Hydra had caught his interest. Nothing wrong with keeping an eye out for those who might be persuaded to think outside of the box.

Hydra supposed that she out to be grateful for her long gloves and boots even if the rest of her uniform wasn't equipped for the winter chill, because at least most of her was covered. The material was thing, elastic like a dance unitard at best.

It was hard to miss the strong, oppressive energy signal of a nearby general and the girl found herself looking around, teal eyes wide as she stood a little straighter because she had no idea who might be approaching -

Hydra's entire demeanor seemed to light up when she saw red hair, green eyes, and that grin. "General Obsidian," she greeted, doing her best to keep her smile demure though it threatened to be wide anyway.

At the mention of her clothing, she looked down, then looked up at him, inwardly with her heart aflutter because he was joining her.

Stay cool Hydra, stay cool.

"You know, I thought about it but I thought it would detract from my threatening factor, to admit that something like the cold could do me in." Though shivering to death didn't seem like a great option either. "We could switch though, outfits. I think you said you liked my boots and I'm pretty sure that cape would look much better on me."

His grin twitched a little wider as she mentioned of appearing threatening, looking rather approving that she'd even considered such a thing. "Well, you aren't wrong." After a moment of thought, he swept the cape from his shoulders in a dramatic gesture to wrap it around her. "Viola," The general droned in a terrible impression of a French accent. "General Queen Hydra, your loyal servant awaits."

Obsidian swept into a bow, not quite willing to kneel in the snow, because that s**t was cold. It also gave him a fantastic opportunity to eye those beautiful boots of hers. "You've been surviving ,I see." He straightened to look her over more closely in general. No missing limbs, no despondent, broken spirit...

Generally, these things all pointed towards thriving, truth be told.

"I'm glad." He added, "Because a pretty face is so hard to find these days. You'd think we're looking to recruit the ugliest people in Destiny City or something."

Hydra knew that she was small, short and relatively petite, but she also knew that she could be a terror, if she tried. Still, she was startled when Obsidian pulled of his cape and draped it across her shoulders. Small hands gripped the red cape and she could feel the risidual body heat, chin tipping up to look at him and this time she made no effort to hide her grin, even though she rolled her eyes at him.

"A general-queen with a fearsome general by her side," Hydra chirped, trying not to sound like the giddy school girl she definitely was inside while he was doing those things for her. "Been warding off those pesky senshi," she said proudly, chest puffing with pride even as she reached up to brush turquoise strands behind her ear.

Hydra continue to move forward, heels clicking against the pavement and she let herself shift a little closer to the general, cheeks flushed faintly when he complimented her. "I think the Negaverse does quite well when it comes to 'pretty' faces." She was looking at a handsome one anyway.

"As you command, my lady." He purred, prowling beside her with such a cheeky grin on his face. This felt familiar. Like the old days, almost, back when everything had been so much more simple. It was easier for him to set aside his feelings when he wasn't muddled by starseed addiction. He'd never be normal again... but he was better. Stronger, he'd like to think. He'd learned from his mistakes and failings.

He'd learned that he was much better than most of the Negaverse's other mistakes and failings by far.

"You think?" Obsidian snorted. "I could grow out a unibrow. Maybe ask someone to break my nose. You know. Lessen up that pretty a touch." He stroked his jaw as though contemplating, but ruined it with a cackle.

A nearby cafe caught his eye, and he jerked his chin at it, sweeping Hydra along with him as they stepped inside. The wonderful smells of coffee and hot chocolate washed over them, and general inhaled blissfully. It was late enough at night that he didn't really care who saw them powered up.

"A drink for the lady and me." He said almost lazily, glancing at Hydra. "Whatever you want, sweets. This one's on me."

Oh, Obsidian did funny things to little Hydra's heart and she tried not to show how much his presence or the things he did for her effected her. The corrupt's confidence had been shaken a little, after a stream of not-so fun fights with the other side and the mean words lobbed in her face, but here was this man who looked at her with interest and made her feel special.

Surely there were others, more confident and capable, that he could have spent time with or on but here he was, paying attention to her.

"Now, I'd like to see someone try and break your nose," Hydra commented in a way that implied she didn't think that was something that would happen. The general carried himself like a man with quite a bit of experience. In truth, the girl wondered what he could teach her so that she could carry herself like he did.

Hydra stood a little straighter in his presence even though he was still, much, taller than her. She nearly reached for his hand, because Hydra was a hand holder when she was allowed to be, but hesitated halfway toward his hand and dropped it back to her side.

"Ah, general. You're too kind," she tried to speak with like she thought a queen might. Her interactions with their own queen had been minimal and she didn't watch much TV. "Hot chocolate is suitable," she decided with a nod as she was swept up by him.

Oh, but she was special. Her potential usefulness was still untapped, and Obsidian saw a tool--a weapon--that had yet to be shaped. The more young, strong hearts and minds he could sway under his influence, he better.

There was a rough bark of laughter at her words, and Obsidian waggled a finger playfully with a grin. "Oh, you'd be surprised, your majesty. A real bloody beat down on both sides gives you an adrenaline rush like none other." But not everyone could fight like that. No, he didn't ignore pain. He embraced it. Once you did that, it was easy to shrug it off after it was all said and done.

"Two hot chocolates, then." He noticed that flicker of movement from the corner of his eye, and with a slow smile, extended his hand, palm up. He hadn't quite decided what he was doing with the idiots behind the counter. Kill them and be done with it? Or let them live? There was time to decide, he supposed.

For now, he'd guide Hydra over to a seat in the corner of the cafe, still watching her. "Tell me more about you." He prompted gently, settling back to get comfortable. "Besides the fact that you have fabulous tastes in fashion."

Dem boots tho.

Hydra didn't know how to respond to the bark of laughter except to smile in response, hoping that her confusion wasn't to evident on her features. "You should," she started, eyes widening in surprise at herself, the words spilling from her mouth before she could even think twice, "teach me." She blinked several times, suddenly distracted by his upturned palm that she slid the tips of her fingers across before taking his hand.

"I have...magic," she glanced at the people behind the counter, wondering if they thought the pair was crazy, or if they were terrified into awe. "But actual combat is outside of my skill set currently." She barely knew how to fight without her wave and she had no idea how many times she could use it. "I'd like to change that." Her voice shook a little, but her overall resolve was strong.

She slid into the seat easily, chin tipped up as she watched to see where her dashing companion would choose to settle. It was hard not to wonder if he would sit beside her or across from her and she was reluctant to let go but instead settled her hands on the table. "I'm not very interesting," she protested, because she wanted to hear more about him and worried that if she talked too much about herself, her real self, then he'd get bored and leave.

That would break her heart.

Something flickered in his gaze at that, and his mirthful expression slid into something more of a thoughtful frown. "I could." He said after a pause, stewing it over. "But my teaching methods tend to be... aggressive. Hands on." Meaning he usually tended to beat the s**t out of his trainees until they learned how to move quickly enough to counterattack. He gave her hand a slight squeeze, but fell silent to better listen to her speak.

Hm. It was an admirable goal though, choosing to rely on something more than just her senshi abilities alone. He temporarily abandoned his thoughts on how to use her in order to give it serious though, his tongue rubbing against one canine. "I can teach you." He finally said, and Obsidian stared her down without blinking. "But it will be hard. I'm going to push you, force you to get better. If people are going to take you on, they're going to know that you're one of mine."

It was a hint of possessiveness, but he meant every word. He'd be damned if someone he trained was going to be weak, easy prey. No, they'd be a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.

When she was sitting and he was not, Hydra felt even smaller. She struggled to keep from hunching into herself and hiding behind the too long hair that fell around her in rippling waves. "I can handle aggressive," she blurted out, surprising herself. Turquoise brows lifted in surprise at herself, then knitted together in firm resolve. "And if I can't, then I'll learn how to."

Hydra had to start somewhere and she knew that her desire to impress the general would only encourage her to push harder than she might have otherwise.

His gaze was unwavering and the girl did her best to meet it, staring up at him with her teeth clenched together and her rapid-fire heart in her throat. She felt like she could melt under the weight of his gaze. "Then push me," she insisted, twisting in her seat so she could push up on her knee and be a little more his height. "Make me yours - one of yours. I want to be a force to be reckoned with." She was being stupid and foolish, stumbling over her words but she looked at him, determination apparent in her eyes.

"Come on general, wouldn't you like to make me a formidable queen?"

he's such a bad influence but I love it.

Obsidian stared in silence down at the corrupted senshi, weighing her words as if to judge them worthy. She believed in what she was saying, but he still didn't think she really knew just what she was getting herself into. How could she? She was soft and delicate, not knowing the true horrors of war.

And yet, she was willing to throw herself into the jaws of the unknown, her eyes sparking with the passion of what she was saying.

The general wordlessly dropped himself into the seat across from her, tilting his head almost imperceptibly. "You're going to hate me," He told her frankly, "But by the time I'm done, you'll be ready to crush the Order underneath your fabulous heels."

And after his claws were sunk in, he had no intention of letting her go.

She knew what she looked like, it was how she managed to get people invested in her causes or how she got her older brother figures to do things for her. She looked her age, maybe even younger, and she looked like someone who couldn't understand the dangers of the world.

And Hydra thought that maybe that's who Obsidian looked at her and she hated it.

"I could - " She cut herself off, shook her head. "I doubt it." He'd probably make her angry and she'd probably get her butt handed to her, with more things to hide from her father, but if it made her better then it was worth it.

And she was a little desperate for the man's approval, so even if she couldn't handle it, she'd figure out a way to.

Settling back into the seat now that he was across from her, she turned to face him, sitting with her back straight and heart rattling in her chest.

"I'm not afraid." She was. "I want this, that." You.

Those words brought a smile to his face, a slow, almost sinuous thing. Still, Obsidian was pleased. Back and already getting his feet wet. Well, he'd make good on his promise. Hydra would become something worth fearing and find herself securely under his thumb.

"Tomorrow night, the track field by Hillsworth." He said, even as one of the girls behind the counter brought over their hot chocolates. He reached out, a gloved thumb gently brushing itself against her jawline before he grasped one of the cups and got to his feet.

"Be good, Hydra." Obsidian all but crooned, offering a wink before he strode out into the night, leaving his cape still wrapped around her shoulders.

Things had just gotten much more interesting.

The smile nearly made her flush, but she tamped back the giddiness that tried to bubble within her. She failed, quite spectacularly, when his thumb moved across her jaw, heart stopping then stuttering to beat again while her brain blanked.

"Yes, general," she managed to get out, surprising herself with the easy, confident way the words left her mouth.

Hydra's face was likely bright red when she swallowed, head nodding slightly, bright eyes following him as he grabbed a cup and slid out of his seat. She desperately wanted to go, don't leave, but she clamped her mouth shut and resigned herself to watching.

She'd been lucky enough that he'd deemed her worth spending time with at all, she didn't need to push her boundaries yet. Besides, she was going to see him tomorrow. She was going to see him tomorrow. It was impossible to hide her grin as she grasped the edges of his cape and burrowed herself into it.
