"Is he your son?" Tethys asked as the almost lion-like feline moved towards them. He was still in a great deal of pain, but the herbs he had been given had ensured that most of it had been suppressed.
"He is not," the leopard responded simply, though he did offer a small smile.
The Captain could only assume that it was a mistake that had been made more often than not, and as the hybrid drew nearer, he did have to concede that there were some slight differences. Nevertheless that didn't necessarily explain why he was here and the pale lion could do nothing more than cast his gaze towards Raja for further explanation.
"He's here to assist you in returning home," he offered softly. "He's aware of the risks," he added.
There was a pause as the leopard rose to his paws and Tethys made to do the same, though even as he took a small number of steps forward, he realised that the process of returning home was going to be a very, very slow one. Regardless of whether he aimed to reach the forward camps, or the Stormborn borders, both were going to require a large amount of strength.
"Onesimos, this is Captain Tethys," the leopard introduced the pair. Words: 212

"He looks incredibly unwell," Onesimos observed as he drew nearer. His words were difficult to hear, scarcely above a whisper as he closed the gap between himself and the two males. However, from his tone and his demeanour it was clear that he meant no harm or offence. He was quite literally stating the obvious in the sense that Tethys did not appear to be fit to travel...suffice it to say that it made sense that he had been called for assistance.
"Apologies," he turned to Tethys and bowed his head in greeting. "You do look incredibly unwell," he clarified, indicating that he knew that manners required he talk to him rather than about him. Nevertheless, rather than waste too much time, the hybrid waited expectantly for Raja to provide him with the necessary supplies to make the trip...including the bag that was to be used for research purposes only.
"Keep him hydrated, rest regularly," Raja paused for a moment and frowned.
"Sleep in the light," he said without much clarification and motioned to Tethys again.
"Noted," Onesimos raised a brow and swept towards Tethys, nudging him just a touch. "Might I suggest we select a suitably pride to rest at rather than attempting to make the long trek back to each of your chosen locations," he suggested and shook his head.
"Both your camp and your pride are a significant distance away and you will need more than just field medic assistance the longer we travel," he pointed out.Words: 250

"I'm aware of how grim my prospects are," Tethys replied with a pained smile, steadying himself beside the hybrid who was surprisingly tall. All things considered, Tethys hadn't been aware that they attained such a size. Credit where it was due, the hybrid clearly took care of himself and in the given circumstances Tethys had to acknowledge that he would prove to be a valuable ally.
If the Captain couldn't walk, then perhaps he could be dragged.
Nevertheless at Onesimos's suggestion he narrowed his eyes in thought. He had limited options depending on where they currently were, he knew of prides nearby but he had yet to strike a truce with any of them... and the nearest prides beyond that were - ah, perhaps he did know where he might be able to go. truthfully, it might very well have been where Raja had been intending to go all along. They might be surprised to see him but they would at least allow him to receive sanctuary, if there was anything he knew about those coastal lions it was that they were hospitable.
"...The Bahari," he said finally. "They have a variety of healers and I need to speak with them, as well as some of their neighbours, as soon as I can," he said and sucked in a breath. "We can go there first and I can deliver what I need to; I imagine that after some time in their care I should be able to proceed on my own."Words: 250

"I know them," Onesimos confirmed. He had been there after all, on more than one occasion he had wandered their shores and enjoyed the sand between his toes. They had always been pleasant to him, and he could vouch for their hospitality... While the journey would still be a long one, it was one that Onesimos was confident he would be able to make even if he had to drag the lion the last part of the way. It was what he was built for after all, to lift that much weight, to be a beast of 'burden' for want of a better description.
All in all, his physique and skill set made him rather good at his profession.
"However I have my instructions and I will not be allowing you to continue on your own," he raised both eyebrows as he began to nudge the lion forward in the direction they needed to go. It would be a long trip, one they would have to stop on more regularly than either of them probably wanted, but it would take less time than the other two directions. "You would be wise to assume I know what it is that you face at this time," he murmured in his ever gentle lull.
...it was a phrase that caused Tethys to glance at him in surprise.
"Never assume you are alone, Captain," Onesimos's smile deepened as he moved on at a very careful pace. No doubt Tethys would have questions, but Onesimos would not be inclined to answer them just yet. When it was time, he had no doubt Tethys would be told everything.

"This is starting to feel a lot less coincidental the longer I tread down this path," Tethys muttered as he eyed the hybrid suspiciously. Though Onesimos hadn't said much, he wasn't the first to know more than should be realistically possible. The more that Tethys had been exploring the various avenues, the more he had attempted to gather information on his prey, the more individuals he had met who seemed to know an absurd amount and yet they all seemed to remain vague.
...It was almost as if they didn't want him to figure it out.
"If you come with me any further than the Bahari'mtoto the expectation will be that you will no longer walk freely," Tethys stated bluntly and shook his head. While he was not adverse to thralls, he never took them by force or unexpectedly, it just wasn't his style.
"That is the plan."
Onesimos's response caused him to raise his brow again and he simply heaved a sigh. In those moments it appeared that Tethys had received the aid whether he liked it or not. Was this a declaration of loyalty to him, someone else, or both?
"If that's the case, then you can expect several questions when we are at a more safe location..." Tethys muttered as he fell into step and drifted in to silence.
