Name: E'ion
(Pronounced: Ehy-ohn || Formerly Echion)
Age:
30
Sex:
Male
Sexual Orientation:
Pansexual
Weyr:
High Reaches Weyr (Formerly Western)
Rider Rank:
Wingrider || Assistant Candidatemaster
Previous Rank/Craft:
Healercraft Journeyman
Physical Description:
E'ion is a lithe man, built rather like he might have grown swimming, rather than the more bulky builds of other men. Standing at 5'8" tall, he's on the smaller side, with hair allowed to grow long about his shoulders. The strands are a deep brown, almost chocolate, with strands of black inside, slightly rough, and thick. It's difficult for him to pull it back, and so he rarely does. Eyes of glittering honey are almond-shaped, though wider than one might think for a boy, lending E'ion an almost androgynous appearance. His skin is tanned, as though he has spent much time in the sun....which with Araeth, and how long he's been around, it is not so strange a thought that the two have taken to the skies and darkened his tone. He has long fingers, and a very deft touch, as well as long legs and a lean torso. Despite the fair looks, he always seems serious, with a rather calm, even gaze, and lips that near never smile. He is indeed the strange one, isn't he?
Personality:
Healercraft taught him much as he grew, but from the beginning, E'ion was willing to work with others. No matter how stubborn and irritating they were, he gently offered guidance and gentle hands. He seems to have a natural tolerance for almost anything you throw at him, good at working people through struggles and strife with little pushes in the right direction. Accompanying this, the man almost never angers. Instead of getting sharp or snappish, his voice is always soothing, offering a level-headed sound. It extends even in to his physical action, every move slow, careful, and graceful.

He never would lie to anyone, and never be false. Every emotion, every word, shines with a genuine nature that might be unusual to some. If he does not mean it, E'ion will not say it, so completely OPEN to letting everyone see what goes on in his mind. There is no point in being deceptive. One of his distinct flaws, though is that he tends to be more passive in his approach to things. He would sooner have a calm discourse than get tough, unless he absolutely has to. He tends to put things as nicely as possible, to carefully urge people in the right direction, instead of immediately making the tough calls that need to be made. He tends to get overly physical sometimes, not meaning to make others uncomfortable. Generally, when he is talking, he prefers to put a hand on someone's shoulder, or be constantly gesturing, physically near his people. He wants to hug those that are crying, to be able to keep someone close when they're having serious talks. The worst part about it all is that when it comes to his own nature, E'ion can be a bit insecure. He likes being an assistant because it lends structure to his traits, and it means that he does not have to worry. If left to his own devices, he will often come to doubt his own ability.

Positive Trait List Patient, Gentle, Genuine

Negative Trait List Passive, Physical, Insecure

History:
It began with a boy born in a family of Harpers. His mother was a beautiful singer, his father talented with his flute and whistles, and Echion? Echion was a bright, energetic child who was always happier leading his peers than sitting with them. It was a morning in the winter that someone slipped and he helped wrap their injury. Steady hands, a surety with his way, and a calm demeanor that screamed of where the boy was truly meant to be. It did not take long for Echion, at age 9, to be allowed to train in Healercraft. Echion began to dive in head first, excited and happy to roll with the punches that came with being a Healer.

Devoted to his work, the boy's hand was steady and comfortable, with a bedside manner that might make an accomplished Healer stare. He was always patient, even with difficult people and found himself able to handle complicated requests without a sweat, shadowing people willingly. It was hard work, required high dedication...but it came to a halt only 6 turns in to it. There was a sound, a blue dragon barging up to him that startled the boy in the middle of his work. Echion watched the creature circling, and when it landed, was one of many boys and girls that ran to look. At the tender age of 15, the boy was selected by the Blue and His to go to Western Weyr as a candidate.

Candidacy, he found, was the same type of routine he’d had in Healercraft. While he missed his craft terribly, there was something unique and exciting about the way their tasks worked, and about knowing that he would get the chance to Stand for a clutch one day. It was shortly after he turned 16 that a clutch was born, and he was on the sands for it. From the beginning, it was a usual clutch...at least until a Green launched herself from the shell. She was whirling about, angry and screeching, unable to be soothed. A few candidates ended up with injuries, until the angry female barreled her way in to Echion. She called him Hers, and from that day, his life would never be the same. Araeth was a demanding Hatchling, that gave him no quarter to do anything besides what she wanted.

Weyrling training was a struggle, the boy with the furious Green having to fight day by day to get through the task without her demanding absolute perfection from him. E’ion now had to handle His on a day to day basis as they worked through Weyrling training, staying barely abreast of her demands. Practice, feed her, be the best, the absolute best. The good things was that he balanced her out well, and she tended to eventually cave beneath the gentle hand of her Rider….sort of. With time. Graduation, E’ion thought, was the best thing to happen to them, he having thought that there was a likelyhood that he would never make it past. It freed him to go back to his studies in Healercraft. Despite Araeth’s squalls of protest, he dove back in to the thing that he loved with gusto.

It was through his Healercraft training that he met Leira, a girl from High Reaches that took his heart sooner than he would care to admit. She was lovely, and E’ion compared her to the stars themselves, and it took little time at all before he was trying to do anything and everything to impress her. Day and day again, he professed his feelings, took her on dates, flew to see her, hopelessly in love. Once his Journeyman status was made at 25, he decided, at last, to move himself to High Reaches to be with her. Why not? He was in love, and he thought she was too. Two years he had with her, blessedly happy with someone at his side. Even with Araeth warning him that this girl might not be all she seemed, E’ion was blind. Age 27, Leira found someone else. When she left him, it left the Rider in a place that he hardly understood, in a Weyr that he almost did not feel like was his own. He and Araeth were a good pair, true, but what was he here? Who was he here? He had a place in Western, and he’d given it up, all for her. All for that lovely Greenrider.

It was his Dragon that decided his moping would not do. With a grumble of irritation, Araeth pushed hers back in to training. Back in to working with her, Flying, learning themselves all over again. It was annoying, after all, to have a Rider with his head stuck in something that was not Her. A year of this, and once he was back on his feet, Araeth talked him in to, once again, reaching out to do something more, to carve himself a niche in this new Weyr. Assistant Candidatemaster. She told him that with his fondness for the little squishy ones, he would do well. Teaching was a suit of his that worked. It was not without quiet protest that E’ion applied for the position, and he was not without shock when he got it. Two years now, he has been the Asst. Candidatemaster. While his dragon is known for her temper and her selfish nature, he is known for a fair and gentle hand, carefully working to ensure that things run smoothly, working in hand with the Candidatemaster.

Name:
Araeth
Age:
11 turns
Color:
Green
Size:
25'
Physical Description:
To the eye, Araeth is beautiful. She is twenty-five feet long, lithe and elegant with the bulk of her muscle in chest, tail, and neck. To the eyes of others, eyes that are constantly swirling between red and orange are a deterrent, if her larger size did not warn you away before. With age, she's only grown larger, with a rough hide and long claws that are more than ready to rend when necessary. Her hide is a mix between a bright green fading in to deep emerald, a tonal quality that her Rider seems to think is rather endearing. In the skies, she's a powerful flier thanks to larger wingspan, and well-developed muscles.
Personality:
Watch out, Hers, for Araeth is a force of nature. From the moment she burst from her shell, she was a whirling dervish of claws and fangs, demanding and furious. There is never a moment that the Green will take a break to listen to anyone but herself...or maybe Hers if he is good enough to keep her attentions. Everything should get out of her way, and a good day for the dragon comes in the form of grumbling instead of loud trumpets of displeasure. Believe her, there will never be a moment where you don't know exactly how she's feeling at any given point in time, and displeasure and fury seem to be the tones that often seem to gain voice. She is quick to bite and scratch when even the most minor irritation comes to her attention, and she thinks that Hers could stand to grow a bit of a spine. Not only will you know her emotions, but her thoughts. Rude or not, Araeth gives little care for the opinions of others, for as far as she's concern, they should be aware that her mind is the sharpest. Her honesty can often be seen as too much, even by the one that Impressed her, for she will be perfectly frank...even to Golds at times. While she might not be as bad a she was in her youth, this Green is not afraid to speak up for herself, and for Hers when the need arises!

Nothing seems to ever quite please her. Even the fattest heardbeast wouldn't be enough to satisfy her ever gloomy outlook on life. She doesn't understand the pleasant outlooks of others, for what is so great about a world in which Theirs constantly get hurt, and are far too squishy for their own good? Some might call them the protectors, but Araeth sees it as realistic to realize that there is no way that they can always keep Theirs safe. She has her reasons, but she is not much fun for other Dragons to be around, for she will always point out EXACTLY why you shouldn't be prancing about like a tiny foal who just learned how to walk. It's simply silly. There will never be a moment that Araeth will not strive to outlast even the larger dragons, fighting to keep up. No matter what, she is sure to take on the most dreary tasks with a single-minded determination that could terrify another. There is no hesitation or question in her mind that she and Hers will be the best at it. They must be, for if they are not, then she has failed. Araeth can not stand to fail. She takes to even instruction with this same drive, intent that whoever is under her wing will understand that there is no distraction. No stopping. No slowing.
