Guitar strummed through Emily Wren's radio, and she sat, holding the infant in her arms with a studious expression, quiet, calm.
Rosie was a sleeping baby, and both Albert and Flynn had gone out for errands, leaving the girl alone with her for... Was this the second or third time? Hell if Emily Wren knew. Her aunt, uncle, cousins -- all out, and Emily really hoped her niece didn't wake any time soon and scream, or poop, or... Well, anything but stare.
Emily Wren Wiley was clueless about infants. She'd even warned as such, but, the baby still ended up in her care, and Emily Wren sighed, studying her, Rosie was but a few months olf and blonde curls were growing in. She had strong lungs and was often napping on a blanket or in her crib -- or being spoilt by some adult, but Emily Wren was normally holed up working in her room, or patrolling, though lately powering was a less common occurence, and her pause had let open the door for bonding she suspected was enforced to 'reconnect' or something equally rediculous. The only one who knew she was magic was Albert, and her father didn't particularly like it. Emily sighed and rose slowly, carrying Rosie for her cradle with a bored expression, frowning faintly to herself. Being powered was getting hairy, and Elpis wasn't keen on being attacked by corrupts again. At the same time, it was an inevitability, and by the time she entered Rosie's room, she was looking quite put out, walking to her cradle to put the infant to bed.
Rosie made no sound, no disruption, and after a moment, Wren set her lullaby CD to play, snickering at Metallica in Lullaby form as she slipped back out, and leaned, looking out a window overlooking the city. The guitar was upbeat and pleasant, but not as active as normal, and Emily Wren studied each light in thought. Magically, she had to defend these people -- to help them survive until the next move. Her responsibility was due to being magic, and for a moment, she resented Sailor Elpis. She resented the responsibility,
Emily Wren sighed, closing her eyes and moving to check on Rosie, when a scream outside made her jump, standing straight up.
It was her aunt outside, and Emily Wren bolted outside to see her aunt trying to take a youma down with her purse. Emily Wren blinked, before her blood went pale, eyes going wide, and she moved, rushing for her aunt as a bear-like youma swiped at her, and her aunt went down, unconcious. Emily Wren scowled from the garage, making sure she wasn't seem before flicking her pen out, instinct taking over as she henshined, and swallowed. It was too close to her nightmares over a year ago. Too close; too real -- but this time... This time the baby was inside, and her henshin pen in hand -- Elpis wasn't a helpless civilian watching....
The youma interrupted her thoughts with a roar and Sailor Elpis snarled back, pointing furiously.
"Oh HELL no Nightmare Bear!" She snarled, baring teeth. "Steep away from the lady right ******** now!"
Her anxiety was dropped as she snarled, eyes flashing protectively as the youma turned, rearing on hind legs as it studied the senshi before it, and roared, lumbering for her rapidly. Sailor Elpis hissed, then moved. She could attack, but first to move to shield her aunt from the shrapnel. Once so positioned, Elpis braced, raising a hand as the youma charged.
She didn't waste time calling her attack -- the scraps of metal flew to her hand at her mental command, and she breathed, throwing the sphere. Everything seemed to slow down -- the youma, her surroundings -- everything -- and the senshi tensed as she watched the ore ball fly -- and strike the youma at the chest.
Suddenly, so suddenly, everything caught up, the youma falling backwards with a yeowl, lights beginning to flick on in houses, and Elpis moved, spinning as the youma began turning to dust, and carried her aunt inside rapidly, closing the house door.
Sailor Elpis lay her aunt on the couch, before dehenshining, and moved out to play frantic. The dust was dispersing in the breeze and from commotion, nobody had seen Sailor Elpis -- a good fortune, letting Emily Wren play the frantic confused civilian. It was a mess, and soon Emily Wren volunteered to 'clear' inside, going in. Her aunt remained out on the couch, and Emily Wren felt she may call paramedics soon -- but the cry of Rosie waking up from her sleep made Emily Wren flinch, moving to catch her niece and return outside, affirming her aunt was in but her rescuer was missing She noted her aunt's condition in panic a bit, before the crying of Rosie caused her to hum, shushing the baby gently as she crooned, rocking her. Someone went in to check on her aunt, as someone else called paramedics, and Emily Wren breathed, slowly rocking Rosie as she absently hummed. She was anxious and worried about her aunt, and looked back towards the door before sthe person checking her signalled she was alright. Emily Wren breathed, relaxing, as she rocked the baby and swallowed. Everything... Was not like her nightmare. It was still a random attack, but her aunt survived.
Her aunt survived.
