Pod duty was, by far, Tommy's absolute least favorite duty that the island offered. He'd even prefer cleaning minipet cages of feces, because at least than, he'd be active and not stuck sitting at a table with a clipboard in front of him. Ten minutes had gone by, and he was busy drumming out a beat with his knuckles, puffing out a deep breath, and his legs jittered. This was boring. Too boring, for him, and he needed to be doing something, anything else. So, he removed himself from his seat that the table, and started doing push ups, pushing himself up rapidly enough to do a little hop and clap his hands after each one, muscles taut, nose going down to just barely touch the floor with each one. He lost count after the first 50 or so, and sweat was beading on his forehead, but he didn't stop until his muscles screamed in agony and he could no longer do it anymore. He collapsed to the cool floor, and just laid there, breathing heavily and feeling much better than he had been before, when an alarm suddenly went off, indicating that somebody was waking up, followed by the telltale hiss of a pod door opening. "Ah, merda." He muttered, and pushed himself to his feet, wiping at his brow with the sleeve of his shirt, before stopping at the table to grab the clipboard on his way to figuring out which pod had opened.

His head hurt and his body felt way too stiff, limbs refusing to move the way he wanted them to as consciousness began to flood him. Groggy, that was a good way to describe how he felt, trying too hard to move out of whatever he was laying on.
Wait was he laying? Zane wasn't sure.
Slowly, green eyes fluttered open, a low groan leaving him and his throat felt scratching, mouth dry like he'd been asleep for too long. He didn't know where he was, vision a bit fuzzy as he tried to sit up, pale hands reaching for the edge of his stasis pod to try and pull himself up. It didn't work so well and instead, Zane found himself falling forward, hands shooting out before him in a poor attempt to stop him from falling.
Everything felt like dead weight when his knees hit the ground and sent a jarring reverberation through his frame. Arms buckled when he caught himself and he nearly smacked face first into the ground.
Unfortunately, Zane managed to knock off his glasses when he tried to push himself up. "Ah, crap."
He could hear them skittering across the floor. Great, exactly what he needed. He reached forward blindly, scooting across the floor slowly as he tried to find his glasses.

It didn't take Tommy long to find the pod in question, a quick glance down each row all that was necessary before he caught sight of one with it's door wide open, and a man who crawled around on the floor. The tall Italian remembered his own awakening, and felt a surge of pity for the poor man. It was a jarring and confusing experience, that was for certain! He turned, and made his way down towards the man, clipboard held tight in one hand, soft leather boots making barely a sound on the floor. "Hello there~" He said, cheerfully, coming to a stop and crouching down, his arms resting on his knee's. "Did you fall, are you injured?" He asked, with only a hint of concern in his upbeat tone. "Can I help you to your feet?"

Zane's head jerked up sharply, hitting it on something metal and he cursed, holding the back of his head. "Owwwwww." He was a hot mess, who couldn't see. Lovely.
"I'm - sugar biscuits! Fine," he hissed between teeth, rubbing his palm across his face. "I just can't - I can't find my glasses!" He huffed, slapping both palms against the ground in frustration. "I can't see without my glasses," he mumbled quietly, embarrassed when he sat back on his calves.
Zane's head tipped up towards the fuzzy outline of the person who was talking to him. Green eyes were narrowed in a squint, like it would help bring the figure into sharper focus but all it did was annoy Zane further.
"No. I can get up." He didn't know but he sounded confident and was sure gonna try. "Just - find my glasses. Please."

"You're...Sugar Biscuits?" Tommy sounded confused for a few moments, and he looked up at the pod, reading it's serial number before glancing down to his clipboard. "Says here that your name is Zane. Is Sugar Biscuits your preferred name?" He asked, as if not fully aware that sugar biscuits had been meant as a curse and nothing more, a grin on his lightly tanned face. "Ah, I see. I will find them, then, you do not need to worry!" He straightened, and had a look around. He looks like an idiot, but at least he hasn't broken his hand like you did. Jaina's cool voice sounded in Tommy's head as he searched for the wayward lenses. As usual, he ignored her, and caught a glimpse of something flashing from the floor. "Found them!" He said, cheerfully, while stooping to pick them up. Turning, he held them out towards Zane, assuming, by then, he had actually gotten up off of the floor.

"What?" Zane sounded horrified that the man thought his name was sugar biscuits. "No. What - why - ugh." He threw his hands up and tried to glare at Tommy but couldn't tell if he was even looking his way. "Zane, call me Zane. Or Z I guess."
He shook his head, a little flabbergasted by it all.
Relief and gratefulness flooded his system when Tommy went looking for his frames. At this point, his legs were still a little wobbly and he swore he could feel the pinprick of needles in his toes as he turned back to the pod and tried to use it to hoist himself to his feet.
When Tommy returned to him, Zane would be half on his feet, clutching the door of his pod like it was the only thing keeping him upright, which was probably true.
"Oh thank ginger," he breathed, arm thrusting out and hand making grabby hands at his glasses.

"Tommy, actually, not Ginger." He said, continuing with his previous joke theme and chuckling to himself because he felt so damn clever at that moment. The glasses were pressed into Zane's groping hand, and Tommy tapped the clipboard against his leg, waiting for the other man to right himself fully and get himself all sorted out. "Soooooo...." He said, glancing down at his clipboard again, "You haven't actually been asleep for long." What constituted as long, though, he didn't specify. "What do you remember?" He asked, and glanced back up.

Green eyes snapped and he looked at purple-haired Tommy skeptically. It was unclear if he found him funny at all but he took his frames back carefully, sliding them onto his face only to frown and pull them off again, holding them to his mouth to fog them up and then down to his shirt to clean them.
The second time he put them on, he wrinkled his nose to adjust them just right and blinked at his companion. There, that was better. He could actually see this helpful and funny-but-not-really dude.
It took more effort than he was prepared for, because really Zane was exhausted and ready for bed, but he stood none-the-less and grinned weakly at the other man. "See, I'm golden. Uh," he paused, swayed a little and shook his head like he was still trying to shake some fog.
"Nothing really? Lots of fog up here," he tapped his head, looking expectantly. "What kind of thing am I supposed to remember? Where are we?"

Tommy didn't believe for even a moment that his man was golden, and had to bite his tongue from making yet another joke about how he thought he was Zane, as it didn't really appear that the man was all that impressed with Tommy's sense of humor thus far. He would put it down to the fact that the guy had just woken up, because come on, these jokes were great. "Mmmmhmmmm..." He intoned, skepticism clear, gaze flicking over the man, body ready to move and grab him should he begin to topple. He seemed to not be doing too badly, though, and Tommy raised his clipboard, slid a pen out of the top, and clicked it sharply before jotting down a couple of notes. "Ah, that is difficult to say. The remembering, I mean. You may recall having been approached by a hooded figure? Somebody who made you an offer, told you that you were a rare individual, and one that could help all of humanity." He paused, and lowered his clipboard again. "You are on a military base, a very special kind of military base."

It was a shame Zane wasn't blonde, because think of the gold mine of jokes there could be.
Still, Zane almost scowled at Tommy when he got that look. "I feel great," he said this time, even though he knew he didn't sound nor look as such. He just needed a few more minutes to get over having been asleep for however long that had been.
The ginger man did squint when the purple-haired giant jotted things down. "That sounds right? I guess." Zane didn't offer any more details, preferring to let his strange companion fill in the blanks for him. Trying to remember sounded like too much effort.
"Wait. Military base?" Had he agreed to go into service? Ugh, that sounded like work. Well, he must've because he was here now and he had a feeling that there was no going back. "Oh - yeah. I signed up for this." Of course, Zane hadn't understood exactly what that meant, it just sounded interesting and it wasn't like he was doing much with his life otherwise.
He tried to take a step forward, which proved to be a terrible mistake because his legs didn't want to work right just yet and he went toppling over.

"You look great. Very handsome, I assure you." Tommy said with a grin, "I can hardly even notice the way your legs wobble." He continued, and flipped over the page on his clipboard, scanned over it, and jotted down another little note. "You'll remember more, later." The mist hunter hand waved, as if it really weren't all that important, while he continued to scan over the paperwork, a couple of scrutinizing glances given. "Yes, a military base." He lowered the chart again. " Of sorts. It is very special, very top secret~ Only the most special of people are recruited." He paused, making sure that Zane was still listening. "People who can see things that other people can n--" Tommy had to cut himself off there, because it looked like...yep, like Zane was going to fall, and since he couldn't have that happening, he dropped the clipboard to the floor with a clatter and moved in to grab him and haul him with an extraordinary amount of strength back to his feet before he could hit the floor. Being a hunter did have it's benefits. "Ah, please do not fall over. Here, just hold on to me. We should walk, and get your muscles working."

Zane eyed Tommy cautiously, unsure of what to make of the 'handsome' comment. The ginger definitely thought himself to be a look, in some form, but mostly talked about it himself and didn't hear it from others. In the end, he decided to brush it aside, over-thinking while he wasn't quite fully himself was probably a bad idea.
"Riiiight," he said dryly, brow arched in a way that said he didn't believe the other man. "Course I was recruited, I'm the best," he said as proudly as he could, despite the fact that he was quite literally clutching to the other man just to remain upright. One hand clutched the front of Tommy's shirt and the other grasped at the back of his coat, Zane's body swaying a little as he willed his limbs to work properly so he would stop looking like an idiot.
"Walk, right," Zane mumbled though his brain was going, ugh, effort.
One foot in front of the other was harder said than done but the more he tried, with his companion's aid, the easier it got. "Something about shadows and blah, blah, blah. Right. I remember that. What happens now?"
