Hello One and All and Welcome to Our New Year Event:
♀ ↔ GENDERBENDER ↔ ♂
Happy New Year, Everyone! Based on your votes, Gender Bender is Nevermore: A Tale of Knights' New Year and first Guild Event!
You're Invited! You've been invited by courier to the biggest party of the year and the best one to help kick it off! Maybe you have heard tales, rumors of such a bash existing but none on first-hand account. Now, despite all odds, you have received a hand-delivered invitation:
Hello, Precious Guest! You're invited to the largest, most sought-after celebration of the year! Held in the Penthouse Suite of Eldrin's grandest hotel, The Black Crane, will be the biggest party of your life! Enjoy drinking, dancing, mingling, and more as you spend the night taking some well-earned downtime from adventuring, fighting, and magic tuning. No-need to RSVP! Show up when you can or you'll be sorry for missing out! Cut-loose on the dance floor, fill your gullet at the bar, take a dip in the pool (or better yet, the hot tub), or take this as a chance to spread the latest gossip. Whatever it is, do as you please and make sure to enjoy yourself! Just be sure to try the punch!
The letter ends there with a date, one you just so happen to have free. Why not go? What could be the harm? When you get there, the place is packed with lots of people you may or may not know. You slowly realize that this is, indeed, a party you did not want to miss! After a few hours, however, something seems awry. You along with the rest of the party members begin to feel queasy, a sickening feeling overtaking you. When you finally think the worst has passed and you can enjoy the party again, something is strange. Something is different. The guests all seemed to have swapped genders, and upon looking into the mirror... you have as well. The clock is ticking. What caused this? Who sent the invites? Will there be a way to reverse these odd effects before the party is over or will you and the other guests remain like this forever?

Well, the bouncer was certainly not one for jokes. When he'd asked for her weapons, Ellie graciously handed over her and her brother's trench knives before asking if her fists counted as well. The man had glared at her with a huff before sending them through to the penthouse. You really did not expect him to take that any better, did you?
"Nope," the woman said answering her brother aloud. "Actually expected it to go a lot worse. Hahaha! I'm surprised 'e let us in anyway!" The place already had quite a few people, Ellie and Cesar only being a few minutes late. That part's your fault, by the way. We would've been 'ere on time if you didn't have to dress me. With that thought, the nereid looked down at her dress, a fitted silver deep-cut piece that resembled scales. She had planned on arriving in a less eye-drawing get up, but Cesar wouldn't have it. It would've been a travesty if she had arrived at the party in a casual outfit. They'd fought over it for a little while before she finally gave in, the best dress she had being her go-to for when she sang at the night club.
The most exclusive party in the kingdom, and you were just going to wear drab off-brand names. I really need to get you more clothes for things like this...
Yeah, it's not strange at some bloke just lookin' for ladies clothes in a store. Although there were many things to do here, Ellie was looking for one thing in particular: the bar. There were few things these two liked more than alcohol. When she caught sight of it past a group of people, the nereid made her way over before leaning on the counter and grinning at the bartender. "Shake me up a drink, dollface?"
Shien was standing outside on the balcony, looking out toward the city of Kaios. This place was totally foreign to her. It was far more advanced than her kingdom and...crowded. She couldn't decide if it was worse or better. It was definitely warmer, though the breeze high up was enjoyable. Her initial plan was to play it safe at this event and just enjoy herself. Thus, the woman had left her sniper back at home with a friend of hers, only bringing her pistol. Even that wasn't allowed in this place, though. No weapons? Perhaps tonight will be enjoyable. Just play it cool Shien, no worries. After all, you're a lady tonight, not an assassin. Relax and have fun. The aasimar took the final sip of the champagne she'd been working on before turning away from the view.
Since she was going back home after the night was over, she might as well get the full experience of this kingdom. Maybe it'll end up being better than home, and there were lots of good sniping positions with all these tall buildings. Shien chuckled and headed inside.

Remeil Flowers Knight of Flowers
Remeil made it to the party. it was the first time the flower had been invited to anything and it was a welcome surprised. New clothes were a must and shortly after the invitation was received the plant went and bought clothing. Now here at the party the little flower became shy and moved against the wall.
Remeil had yet to be around too many other people and was unaware of proper social protocol and etiquette. Maybe observation was a good way to start and data-collecting was the method for this flower.
Sometimes it's hard to be nice, I understand that perfectly, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't try.
┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓
Rosé politely bowed, greeting the bouncer with a sweet smile, her best dress on that would normally be considered a little to provocative to her brother but tonight was a grand night wasn't it. She tilted her head as the bouncer asked for her weapon, a slight look of confusion as she giggled pressing forward, her reaction a clear sign she didn't use weapons.
Entering the penthouse suite was what you'd expect of a fancy establishment. It was pretty and she felt slightly out of place, her looks decent but nothing extraordinary or what you'd assume of someone who would venture here. 'This place is a lot nicer than I would have first thought' her mind beckoned to her. It was something she hadn't experienced, the lavish life was something she longed for but it wasn't something she needed.
Looking around she headed towards the bar, sitting on a stool, her right leg crossing over her left as her bare skin showed through the slight up the side. "Perhaps I can have fun tonight" she ushered, taking a cup of punch in her hand as she looked around.
Rei stepped into the designated venue, admittedly impressed by the luxurious setting. It had a shimmering effect in her eyes, as if everything were shiny and fancy and freshly polished. As expected of the place which held the "most sought after" party of the year. The already frustrated bouncer at the door asking for weapons not attached to one's person made Rei glad she hadn't brought anything but her medication, which she couldn't go anywhere without. She momentarily wondered who had made the bouncer angry so early in the night, but it soon dispersed as she looked around, not sure where to start. Snack table? Bar? The people scattered in clumps that would possibly listen to her jabber? Seeing as her main reason for showing up was the chance of trying fancy food, she aimed herself toward the table lined with tiny finger foods. At times like this, dressed up in nice clothes and strutting in heels that at least made her a little taller, she felt the elegance of elvish blood within her. Her floor-length hair swayed softly with her graceful movements as she approached where she would quite possibly spend the rest of the evening. Picking a small plate, she began filling it with a little bit of everything on the table. And, of course, she made sure to grab a cup of punch.
Ellie had already gotten partway through her drink when someone else at the bar caught her. This girl didn't look like she was from Eldrin. She reminded the nereid of someone they'd met before. This girl is cute...in that plain kind of way.
Cesar, you're the worst! She is super pretty! Your standards are just ridiculous.
Even my own sister cannot live up to them... The line only made her imagine her brother running his hands over the fins on his head while looking away with disdain.
You're truly the worst. The woman moved to the seat next to the dark-haired girl and smiled. "'Ey, there! Likin' the party?" she asked. The drink in the young lady's hand snagged her attention. At first, it looked like it was something mixed, making Ellie exponentially excited "Ah, that looks great!" Even though she'd yet to finish her beverage she had ordered before, the fish reached to the glasses of punch present at the bar. Since they'd already been made, she could only assume that they weren't alcoholic. It made her a little sad, but she'd drink it all the same.
I know you can hold your own, dear, but do not drink yourself under the table before we have had any fun."Anyway, darlin', don't mean to pry, but do ya travel to Eldrin often?"

Rosé Chihana
Sometimes it's hard to be nice, I understand that perfectly, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't try.
┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓
Rosé pouted to herself as she watched people chatter amongst themselves, smiles or frowns, it seemed exciting. As she was about to move she heard someone speak to her, a quick glace at the female calling her 'darlin'. She softly smiled, a sense of hope forming on the tips of her lips as she was finally approached. "Yeah its so chic and extravagant.. I kind of stick out like a sore thumb don't I?" she laughed, questioning the poor women who had decided to talk to her. "I just got the drink, it looks sooo good. It doesn't smell alcoholic though.. what a shame" she uttered, a slight hint of joy in her voice.
'She's a little strange isn't she?' Rosé thought to herself smiling ever so sweetly. "This would be the first time I've been here. You?" she asked, her eyes opening a little more as she tilted her head a little, locks of auburn hair framing her face.
Maybe this was a bad idea.Sure, this was the party of the year, or at least that's what the courier kept promising. Blake wasn't one to get invited to things...ever, so this came as both a shock and suspicion. The event didn't even necessarily relate to anything she'd ever participated in before. Either way, the half-elf couldn't help going. Rowan had even gotten his own invitation as well, but he'd seemed disinterested. So here Blake was without her Knight, dressed to the nines and smiling nervously up at a grumpy-looking bouncer with open hands. Armed guests would certainly pose as a problem; she understood that much. Luckily, the young woman didn't have to worry about leaving any of hers at the door, however. What would be the point in bringing one? She flashed another smile at the man as he let her in to the party.
The penthouse was significantly nicer than she initially imagined...and full of people. Blake chuckled a bit before running a hand through her green hair."Well, at least it looks like there's plenty to do here. Oh! Th-thank you." A waiter with a tray full of glasses had offered her one of the beverages. The young woman took one of them before moving further into the penthouse. It would probably be strange just to hang out around the entrance, but it wasn't as though she really knew what to do with herself at this point. The music playing was calling her to the dance floor before she knew it, so Blake downed her punch and headed that way.
Unfortunately for her, the snack table was en route to the dance floor, and a couple items caught her eye. It was probably a bad idea to snack before dancing, but getting a look at the spread wouldn't hurt. There was a dark-haired woman there filling up her own plate, so this would be the perfect time for food recon. The night would end in travesty for her if any nutty snack made its way down her esophagus."Sorry to bother you, but have you tried any of this stuff yet? It all looks great, but looks can be deceiving! Is it any good?"Depending on how this conversation went, Blake's next move would be to the dance floor, but it'd be better to stake out the food first, especially with waiters handing it out like candy.
"No, not at all! I feel like if it's anyone that's stickin' out, it's most certainly me," Ellie said with a smile. She sighed. "But, that's what I get for lettin' my brother pick out my clothes." The punch tasted pretty good, but since free upscale alcohol was available, the woman downed the glass rather quickly, not entirely interested in staying too sober. Once that was finished, it was back to sipping on her martini. "Agreed! It's pretty good, but this is what I'm after tonight." She twirled her glass a little, watching the clear liquid move within it. Ellie and Cesar weren't alcoholics, of course, but they'd become quite fond of more expensive brands, so venues like this were sought after. The nereid gave the girl next to her a wink.
"I actually live 'ere in Kaios. Been wantin' to travel for some time, though. It's been awhile since I've left the city let alone the kingdom. Ah, sorry! My name's Ellie, by the way," she said holding out a gloved hand. Are you trying to tell me something, dear sister?
Hmm? Of course not! We've been makin' bank lately, so it's not like we should leave. We should hit up a match soon, though. Could really go for some action.
Rei had just popped what looked like a type of small prawn skewered to piece of cheese and cracker when a very lovely woman approached her. Suddenly a bit embarrassed about how she must have looked shoving the entire cracker in her mouth without thinking, her cheeks lit up with a faint blush. She put her free hand up to cover her mouth as she quickly worked to chew up the food in order to reply to the woman. Once swallowed, Rei motioned with the same hand to the platter of prawn-cheese-crackers.
"Just that, so far," Rei responded then added, "It was really good." She had never thought that something would possibly be iffy with the food, and even after the women mentioning 'looks can be deceiving', Rei planned to try everything offered. "It's not everyday I get to try fancy and expensive food!" Rei smiled as she said this before offering her hand to the other woman as well as a greeting, hoping to at least meet a few new people while she was here. "My name is Rei Kazue. Are you a guest here as well?" Her eyes studied the woman's face, noting the pointed ears, fair skin, and coloured hair and wondered if by any chance this woman was elvish, or at least part.
"There used to be a point to everything, but since that day I can't seem to find myself caring about anything anymore. It's not because I don't want to, but because it's best if I don't."
Rowan was not into parties... and he definitely was not here for the social aspect of things. Having received an invitation, he had merely crumpled it up and thrown it into the trash. While everyone else may seem eager to attend something like this... he was not due to its location. That was right... it was in Eldrin of all places, home to dark fae and demons alike. Such a place like this was rather lax and less hierarchical, unlike Carmillion. What Rowan did not like about it, however, was all the attention he got from most of the inhabitants of this kingdom. Unlike in Carmillion, people followed him around here and wanted to inspect Gram at a moment's notice, fascinated with the demonic arm. Being a zombie as well, it was natural for them to become curious. What he detested most, however, were all of the dark fae that stalked him around constantly asking him to break his pact with his current Mage. The creatures, as he called them, were horribly irritating, and their requests were merely met with great disdain from Rowan. Even today, he had already been approached by several who were interested in Gram.
No, he did not come to this party because he was invited. The reason he came here... was for the food of all things. Rowan and Blake were naturally rather... humble with how they lived and ate. As such, it was an incredibly rare opportunity to have any type of food that cost more than five gold. So, after taking food into consideration, Rowan decided that this party was not going to be the worst idea in the world. The man wanted to taste something exquisite before he died, and this was his best opportunity to eat food like he was some rich person. It may be rather vain... and gluttonous... but it's not like any of that stuff has ever stopped me from doing anything before. Even if it's such a ridiculous reason... I'll deal with all of these irritating people if it means eating some good food for once. Rowan though, giving a slight insult to Blake in his mind of all places. After all, he needed to make sure she did not think he was becoming nicer... even if she could not hear the insult. Taking a bit of food from the platter of a waiter walking by, Rowan began to eat and eat food like there was no tomorrow.
After about five minutes, however, he was interrupted by a dark fae woman that had noticed Gram. Before she could even speak a word, Rowan simply held up his hand and spoke in a rather mean-spirited way. "Not interested." He stated to her rather bluntly, sending her away without the woman ever asking if he would be her Knight. He was making a shooing gesture with his hand as well, treating her like some sort of needy pet rather than an actual person. If there were any creatures in this world other than dragons that he disliked... it would be the dark fae. Needy, greedy, and adamant with their desires, they would do anything to get what they wanted. They were also incredibly persistent and irritating with how they went about getting what they want. The only thing that's needier than them is Blake... although I guess it's not so bad when it's her. At least she's capable of healing me and has some sort of grasp of what space means. I couldn't stand someone constantly eyeing Gram like it's some sort of toy. Rowan thought to himself, further cementing his dislike for the slightly more demonic race of elves.
"Even if you tell me that there was a point to bringing me back, that still doesn't seem to mean anything to me. All I am is a weapon, and that was all I was trained to be, since the beginning."

The plate of crackers Rei had motioned toward definitely looked really good. "Same here! I don't usually go crazy with my food budget, so getting to try things like this for nothing is pretty enticing!"At least this girl seemed pretty nice. Blake had silently been dreading the possibility of no one conversing with her. Now that someone actually was, she considered ditching dancing for snacks for the sake of having someone to talk to. "So says my invitation, although I still think it was a mistake. I don't often get invited to things like this,"the half-elf joked taking the young woman's hand in greeting. Rei Kazue...the name reminded Blake a little of Yuki no Okoku. Was she from that kingdom?"My name's Blake, ah, Blake Trinity. It's nice to meet you!"Her hand fell before reaching out to fill her own plate of food. Rei had the right idea after all, indulge in fancy food while you can, just had to keep an eye out for things she couldn't eat.
"Did you really see it?!"an interested voice asked from behind them. It was obviously some level of catty gossip, something Blake wasn't normally interested in. The response to the question, however, caused her eye to twitch.
"You think I would lie something like that? There is no mistaking the Demonic Arm. Would it not be..."The conversation faded as the two women walked past the table. I must have heard them wrong. Yeah, I definitely heard them wrong. There's only one of those, and it's most certainly not here.Curiosity beckoned her to cast the spell that allowed her to detect undead. Blake acted against it, however, snatching a couple of the prawn and cheese crackers that Rei had pointed out and something that resembled a mini cream and fruit tart.
"Rei would you like to eat with me? It looks like there's an open couch over there,"she explained, tilting her head in the direction of a sitting area with white furniture."I can't promise I won't ramble, but it'd be nice to have someone to talk to, not that you're obligated." The woman scratched the back of her head nervously with a smile.Right. You definitely heard them wrong. Why would Rowan even be here anyway?
"It's my first time at a party of this caliber of wealth." Rei smiled again. "It's nice to meet you, as well, Blake." She was glad she wouldn't be spending at least part of this event without a single person to talk to. She stuck another item off her plate into her mouth before another bout of conversation started up. As much as she enjoyed talking and company of another, this luxurious food could compete for her attention any day. Chewing the food, somewhat quickly, Rei thought she saw a brief moment of irritation cross Blake's face. She wondered if it was because of the women near them chatting about demon arms. Rei, not knowing what a demon arm was (except maybe a demon's literal arms), figured that maybe Blake wasn't a fan of such things.
"Ah, I would love to! And I'd love to keep talking with you!" Rei quickly responded to Blake's offer, unintentionally raised her voice slightly in saying this, before it dawned on her that she may have said something weird too loudly. She put her hand to her lips, as if to quiet her already said words. "Sorry," she apologized quietly, then in a normal volume repeated, "I would love to keep talking."
"There used to be a point to everything, but since that day I can't seem to find myself caring about anything anymore. It's not because I don't want to, but because it's best if I don't."
In all honesty, it was probably really difficult to tell that Rowan was... well Rowan. The man had taken at least some consideration in regards to how he dressed for this occasion, and he made sure to use a suit that he had been storing in a closet at the apartment. As such, he looked pretty decent... albeit he really seemed to look like a Knight, a fancy one at that. With the fur on the collar of the coat, he gave off the appearance of someone native to Yuki no Okoku, although anyone who actually saw him up close could tell that he was not. This thing's pretty irritating... and it's a little stuffy. Not sure how much longer I can wear it without going off on someone. Rowan thought to himself, tugging at the collar of his shirt a bit to give himself some room to breath. Why did he even bother trying to dress up for this event at all? It made no sense, and the young man was obviously not content with his attire at all. Is free food really worth all of this trouble? I know that it's not often a chance like this comes up... but this is just a bit too much for me to deal with. Rowan thought to himself and sighed a little bit, walking over to another platter and picking of some food real quick.
As Rowan began to walk around the room, mainly staking out the various different platters that the waiters were carrying, he heard more talk from the people in it. "Gram? Really? I can't believe they'd let him in wearing something like that." He heard an elf woman say to one of her friends, an aasimar. "Right? I figured that would count as a weapon! It's dangerous for something like that to be in here. This is Eldrin though. They put Knights on a pedestal." Her friend stated back, causing Rowan to simply close his eyes and walk a little ways away from them. The man did not want to deal with this kind of attention, nor did he like the idea of people talking about Gram. "I wonder how they'd get him to disarm himself if they actually cared about our safety. If this was in Carmillion then I bet they'd take his arm off one way or another before letting him in here." The elf woman joked, laughing with her aasimar friend at the thought of a one-armed man walking around a ballroom. At that point, however, Rowan had managed to get far enough away from them that he could not hear their horrible banter.
"I guess the wealthy residents of Carmillion have nothing better to do than look down on us poor, lowly Knights at such a grand party. This is probably just another day in the life of being them." Rowan muttered to himself, looking down at Gram for a few moments before someone put their hand on his arm. At this point... he had finally drawn a very clear line. While it irritated him that he was constantly bothered by these dark elves... it was another thing for them to get touchy with him. Turning, he was about to get very violent with whoever had grabbed him before he realized that it was a dwarf. He looked at the dwarf rather angrily until they spoke to him. "We know you Knights are the only reason we're capable of doing our business. I don't know how things are in Carmillion, but know that it's not just them that are here. You're perfectly welcome to enjoy this party just as much as they are. Just... don't take their words to heart." The old dwarf stated before walking off in a random direction into the crowd. Like I need to be consoled by anyone.... He thought to himself, gritting his teeth slightly as the irritation began to set in more and more.
With a sigh, he began to walk around the room once again and grab random bits of food off of platters as he walked by, making sure people were not paying too much attention to him. ''As irritating as this place is... at least they have some pretty.... good food. I could.... get used to this type of living." Rowan mumbled to himself in-between eating various types of food. Maybe it had just been a bad start to the party for him... but now he was hearing some other people talk. "I heard that Gram doesn't even really exist. It's just a name they gave to this guy with a solid black arm." This one person was saying to a friend. "You're so wrong. I've seen it for myself. It's this gauntlet thing, and it's like a second skin from what I hear. I asked the Mage of the Knight who owns it. She told me that was her best guess. That was a couple months ago though." The woman responded to her friend. They were both wrong, however, because Gram was neither his arm nor was it a gauntlet. The best way to describe Gram was... an arm that he could control that was not his. It felt like a different entity, a parasite living in place of what used to be his arm. It was, however, still letting him control it as such. It's better they remain oblivious to such things. He thought to himself, not feeling up to correcting the two of them.
"Even if you tell me that there was a point to bringing me back, that still doesn't seem to mean anything to me. All I am is a weapon, and that was all I was trained to be, since the beginning."
