Math normally was a fun class! Asimov typically sat at the front, but today he came in late and well... that meant sitting towards the back. But that would be fine. Most of the time they had sheets to work off of, so he could look as close as he needed.
... And then there were times like this, where everything was written on the whiteboard at the front.
It was hazy, but between the smear of white there were flecks of black and blue from the dry-erase markers. As it was, Asimov had to squint and try his hardest to make out even a single number... Even then it was impossible. It was pure torment to keep trying to see anything so far away while the sound of his fellow classmates pencils tapped and scraped at their paper. Some were even turning in their work. Overwhelming feelings of disappointment and failure began to rest heavily on his shoulders as he pondered what to do.
Asking for help wasn't something he liked to do. He was just bothering someone else with his problem. Shifting from side to side in his seat, the small bakeneko continued to frown at the board. If he had heat vision, the thing would have been engulfed in flames four times over from the intensity of his stare.
"I... I can't." He whispered to himself and dropped his gaze back at the sheet in front of him. To be stuck in this position was so embarrasing. Tears stung his eyes. They were roughly wiped off with the sleeve of his sweater.

Bailey enjoyed Math for the most part, of course there were times that he could find it to be a bit boring. A little too easy, he always preferred the more hard-ball questions that came at the very end of their homework. Something to really keep him engaged. As long as you actually listened to the teacher, it was usually easy.
He usually sat in the back though, preferring to let the shorter kids and more interested kids stay up front. Because well, some days he just liked to stay in the back and doodle all over his notebook until he finally had to work on the actual assignment. Today he had decided to pay attention though, scribbling notes, as well as a couple doodles when the teacher started to drag on or students kept asking question after question after he'd already figured it out.
They were all mostly just working on their own assignments now and Bailey caught the sound of the student beside him whispering something. He was nothing short of a curious soul and so he turned his head to see what they could possible be pondering. He caught the sight of the student wiping away what he could only assume was a tear.
"Do...you need some help? I don't mind. I took some notes!" Bailey offered his notebook to the other student with a small smile.

Did he tell the teacher? Or just sit quietly and fail the assignment? What would they do if they found out he couldn't see well? Would he be sent away? Or was there something they could do? Asimov worried his lower lip, lost in a multitude of thoughts and worries that continued to plague his mind.
Lost as he was in his own world, he was startled when a voice came from his side. .. Right. He was in class and of course there was someone sitting near him. Part of the bakeneko expected to be teased or asked to stop sniffling. Wait, the chimera was... offering him something? His eyes widened as he nodded, mouth slightly open.
"T-Thank you I...... Just can't get this..." Though he mumbled the last part, he took the notebook with a small, sheepish smile. Bailey's writing was much closer than the board, and suddenly the questions popped into focus. Ah!
"Oh thank the nine! I can read this. Uhm, thank you." Asimov began to furiously scribble in his notebook, "M-my name is Asimov..." He said as he continued to write, working out the problems as fast as he could lest he keep the other's notebook for too long.

Bailey was watching the other kid carefully, not that he had much else to do without his notebook. It didn't look like he was having too much trouble with the questions, so why was he struggling in the first place? He hoped he wasn't just working fast to hide the fact he was struggling with the work to begin with.
"It's no trouble really...." Bailey was definitely curious now, maybe he should offer more help? He didn't want to see the kid make a bad grade because he was too embarrassed to ask questions. That was something Bailey could understand at least, he hated having to ask questions in class. All of the other kids looking at you and half the time he imagined the teacher just thought he was an idiot.
"My name's Bailey, did you need any help with those?" He offered some assistance, just in case the other student was just to worried about how he'd respond if they asked instead.
