Physical Description: Iliyana is a little shorter than average, but with a slender, reedy build that gives away the fact that she still has some more growing to do. She’s not built for strength, although with some work she could build up a reasonable amount of it – instead, her build is aimed more toward speed and agility. She has very curly, platinum blonde hair that rests about at her shoulders - it would be longer if it was straight, but as it is it appears to have more curly poof than length.

Iliyana has grey-green eyes, that shift from their more dominant gray to greenish depending on the light source and the colors around her, and fair, yet rosy skin. Her facial shape is slightly round, and when she smiles she gets a small dimple in her right cheek.

Personality: Iliyana is something of a busybody. Curious, nosy, and just a bit self-important, she tends to poke her nose into business that really isn’t anything she should be getting into. Before becoming a candidate, she tended to boss around the other children in her creche and (prior to learning the hard way that it would earn her no friends) could be something of a tattletale. These meddling behaviors aren’t malicious in attitude – rather, Iliyana genuinely believes that she knows what’s best for those whose affairs she is meddling in (which, at this age, is limited to Junior Weyrlings, Candidates, Weyrbrats – she’s not foolish enough to try and boss anyone else!)

When she’s not poking her nose into places she shouldn’t be, Iliyana is eager to learn any information that she can get her hands on – geography, history, any and all of it is interesting to her. She enjoys finding new sources of information, and is eager to learn ever more. Nothing ever satisfies her, because there is always more out there to learn! This is why she hasn’t chosen a craft to learn yet – how could she ever decide? She's an eager student in nearly all subjects, ready to soak up whatever education she can get her hands and mind on.

To go with her thirst for knowledge, Iliyana is also fairly organized and neat. She knows how to keep information straight in her head, and can usually remember what she’d given – her work areas are always kept clean and organized as everything has its place. She doesn’t enjoy a sloppy work area, a messy environment, or a smelly body, and because of this she tends to undertake the effort to clean any area that screams sloppy to her, be it her responsibility or not!

Iliyana is a sociable creature, willing to talk to or listen to someone, and she tends to fuss over those she cares for in a hovering manner, always checking up on them to make sure that everything is going well for them, that they’re happy, and that they aren’t getting into any trouble. This can cause her to come across as a bit on the obnoxious side, but she sees it as being motherly and has no intention to stop.

History: Born in High Reaches Weyr to a bluerider and a member of the kitchen staff, Iliyana was fostered at an early age to a lower caverns worker, and spent much of her childhood spending time with either her foster mother or the creche, often poking her way into what her age-mates were doing and attempting to bring any trouble being made to the attention of nearby adults. This wasn't quick to earn her any friends, however, and it took a few rough lessons for her to grow out of her tattletale stage.

Iliyana didn't have much contact with her birth parents growing up, but this never really bothered her - she had her foster mother, and felt perfectly loved and secure. If her birth parents didn't spend much time with her, then it was simply because they were all too busy - her mother, her father, and herself! There was rarely a time when she couldn't find something to do or to learn, and if she got underfoot a little in the caverns or too near a particularly grumpy dragon, well, she got to be quick about getting back out of the way.

Like most weyrbrats, Iliyana hoped to Impress, but knew it wasn't a guarantee. She did try her hand at multiple crafts, but could never find one to settle on. This wasn't through a lack of effort, however - on the contrary, she put her best effort into each option available to her... but none of them really clicked. She knew she was on a limited number of Turns within which to Impress, but as she did have some time yet before it became a pressing concern, didn't let it bother her over much.

Even when she Stood for the first time without Impressing, she didn't let it bother her. After all, the first time didn't mean much, not when you went straight into Candidacy. The second time she stood and nothing happened, well - that hurt a little. After all, surely she was worth Impressing, with how hard she worked and rider blood in her veins.

More than worth it, even. Perhaps it simply wasn't time yet - perhaps a queen was waiting for her.

Then her third time Standing came. The first few eggs hatched, with their dragonets going off toward other people - one little green with an oddly pretty coloration Impressed to another girl, Seikih, who Iliyana wasn't overly fond of, and while she was experiencing the torn emotions of jealousy that the other girl had Impressed and a bit of smug satisfaction that it was only a Green, another egg on the sands hatched, revealing a small, delicate green, who shortly thereafter did not seem so delicate, as she alternately snubbed and snarled at every Candidate she came across, finding something about them to be... inferior, somehow.

Several other eggs hatched and Impressed while the little green continued her tantrum, and it was only when she finally laid eyes on and approached Iliyana that the little terror's red eyes shifted as she Impressed. In that moment, the blonde girl forgot that she had just been feeling rather smug at her fellow candidate - now fellow Weyrling - Seikih for Impressing a dragon of the same color as she, because how could she feel anything but pride in this perfect little beauty?

Of course, Impressing a green was, perhaps, not the best result for an ambitious girl, and though her dragon is ambitious herself, there's only so much a Greenrider can achieve. When your green is as self-entitled as Iliyana's Cristatuth, it can be immeasurably harder. The girl found herself almost immediately tested by her dragon's superiority complex, struggling to rein in her attitude and curb her temper tantrums when she wasn't treated as the queen she felt herself to be.

In the end, of course, it's the Rider that is held accountable for a dragon, and it would take a long time for Iliyana to gain the ability to control her temperamental little lady - and, in fact, is something she has to actively practice with even now, lest Cristatuth's innate dislike of other females and dismissal of most males draw the ire of their superiors.

Fortunately, there have never been any major incidents, though during Weyrling training there was a close call or two that Iliyana wishes she could forget - after all, no-one wants to remember their dragons getting into an argument over who is prettiest in the middle of exercises! - and Iliyana has lost more sleep than she will ever be able to measure dealing with her bonded's fits of affronted anger.

There have been times she's considered transferring, but Iliyana's under no illusions that doing so would make it any easier - even if weyrs other than High Reaches are more relaxed on the color hierarchy, Cristatuth's attitude alone would continue to make her difficult to manage. And if her dragon is getting a little too out of hand, it's this that Iliyana has as her trump card.

High Reaches is the best weyr, after all, and if they have to leave, it would automatically be to somewhere less than the best, which is usually enough to bring the persnickety little green to heel. And after all, no matter what others think of them, Iliyana is always there to pamper and treat her beloved Cristatuth like the queen-in-spirit she is.

On a more political note, she has always been loyal to her Weyr and its ways. Perhaps it was seen as rather backwards, but why change what worked? (She will never admit it, but as horrible as it is, she felt somewhat smug when threadfall happened, because it proved that High Reaches, in all its backwards ways, had been right all along, and her pride in her home had never once been misplaced.

Of course, following that smug sense of pride was a healthy stab of fear, because greenriders fight, and she never considered herself much of a true fighter, and would never be able to forgive herself if her failures led to Cristatuth suffering. (Oddly enough, it was her temperamental dragon who stepped in to reassure her. There were the best, Cristatuth and Hers, and together they could handle anything. Besides, something like this? It would certainly give them the opportunity to do more and greater things. If nothing else, everyone would certainly see how wonderful they were!

... Needless to say, the reassurances were welcome, but after the initial fear had passed, Iliyana was - and is - left with other concerns.

She worries about what threadfall could do to her beautiful Cristatuth - as hearing the stories is one thing, seeing it is another, and Iliyana knows her green is vain enough that even the most mild of injuries she takes (she will get injured, it truly is only a matter of time, with thread falling) will send the dragon into a sour mood. But nonetheless, she has taken the danger as a reason to work hard and achieve the absolute best with her beloved green at her side.

They have yet to experience any injuries during the few Falls they've had to fight under, but both Iliyana and Cristatuth are still on unsteady ground in that they haven't fallen into the rhythm of it quite yet. It's probably going to take the injury that Iliyana is concerned about, and getting through that, to help take away some of that 'newness' that the battles still have.

While neither her foster family nor her birth family have been lost due to threadfall, her bluerider father was heavily injured, along with his dragon, which may have led to some of Iliyana's uncertainty about how she and Cristatuth will fare - she's not all that close to her sire, but he is a far more experienced Rider, and if he and his dragon could face injuries severe enough to temporarily ground them in one of the first few Falls, what is it going to be like once things start picking up???
Other: - In her (understandbly not all that much, with a temperamental, frankly prissy dragon to ride herd on) free time, Iliyana still tends to make a busybody of herself, finding nothing so pleasurable as being able to take care of some task or another ... or watching others do it and showing them how it could be better. There's a reason she Impressed such a... commanding... little green as Cristatuth!

DRAGON
Name: Cristatuth

Size: 21'
Physical Description: Cristatuth is small for a green, though not particularly small boned or thin. She packs a lot of muscle in her smaller size, and isn't afraid to use it! She is also a bit unique in her appearance, with shorter limbs, a slightly shorter neck, and seemed to try to make up with it by having an exceptionally long and delicate tail. As swift on the ground as she is in the air, this dragon has average flame power, slightly below average stamina, but great dexterity while on wing. Her bite is as bad as her bark.
Personality:
Cristatuth is a green dragon that demands power and respect. This is not a request, nor a suggestion, but a command. She is a dragon who will walk with her head held high, who will look down her nose at any she finds beneath her (and trust me, there will be a great many) and Faranth help you if cross her. If ever there were a queen in a green's skin, it would be the delicate Cristatuth. This is a dragon that wants power. This is a dragon that wants fame, respect, and others to fear her. She wishes her kin to obey and rightfully worship and admire her, not simply due to her beauty, but because it is the way of things. She will make a name for herself, come hell or high water, and just you try to stop her!

Cristatuth is far from demure or coy. Strong-willed, independent, and assertive, this is a dragon who knows exactly what she wants. Add an incredible amount of intelligence and cunning, and she will connive and plan and think about ways to obtain her desires, or that of her riders. And trust me, there will always be a plan. She is far from stupid, and while she can be quick to react and respond, she is always in control of her actions, no matter how dramatic they might appear.

And trust me, Cristatuth is dramatic.

If she believes she might find use in a male, she might coddle up to his ego or pet his pride. If she believes befriending a particular queen or green will gain her an advantage, she will say the right words, look the right part, and do whatever she can to best win their favor. Rest assured, though, that this green will always have a reason behind every action. Unfortunately, though, her great passion, mixed with her swift temper, can leave her with a burning fury and wrath.

She will not throw a temper tantrum, but things tend to be pushed out of proportion with this green. She will always make a mountain out of a molehill, especially if there's a problem against her or her rider. She will let the entire world know that she is upset, angered, and the consequences will be just! If her adversary is greater in power than she, she will use tricks and subterfuge to turn others against them (or at least she'll try) and not hesitate to scold and scream and hiss at them for as long as she holds a grudge; if her adversary is weaker, she will not hesitate to bully them physically and verbally, and make them well known to the error of their ways.

Cristatuth is definitely the sort who is quick to accuse and slow to forgive.

Despite her obvious negative traits, Cristatuth can be a great ally. To her rider, and those that she takes under her wing, she will care for them as her own. While she expects to be revered and treated like the great dragon she is, those whom she might come to admire or respect or honor her, she will not hesitate to protect. She will be their voice if they find they have none, she will use her cunning to their advantage. So long as they pay their dues to her, Cristatuth will have little problem sharing the spotlight.

She is more partial to her green sisters than she is other queens. As far as she can tell, she sees herself as equal to the golds, and just let them say otherwise. She will not defer to them easily, and will not hesitate to bully when she can can. The weaker willed ones she will attempt to establish some sort of control over, and those that are stronger, she will fight every step of the way.

Any male is beneath her station, though she does enjoy their exclusive attention from time to time. Bronzes are her preferred color, though she might humor a brown or blue if she's feeling especially generous. Faranth forbid a male she has her eye on catches another green or gold -- she will make the life of the female in question miserable as well as do what she can to claim that male as her own. Regardless how he feels about her attention.
