History
For centuries, Yuki no Okoku has rested within the mountains, protected from sieges by other countries. Due to its natural barriers, it has mostly remained unseen by the rest of the world. As a result, however, its people have also remained largely disconnected from each other. The various towns and villages within the kingdom are separated by many mountains and are naturally hidden by them as well. Centuries passed without any of them being aware of the existence of each other. However, one day a conqueror arose who traveled across the snowy mountains, taking over all the villages and towns in an attempt to unite them into one, unified kingdom. This was met with much outrage, and once everything was conquered the people rebelled. The ruler was killed, and various leaders rose up in each of the villages and towns. These leaders soon established territories, creating a network of what seemed to be miniature kingdoms within Yuki no Okoku. They did, however, have their larger kingdom as a whole to look out for. As such, the rulers decided to unify themselves and establish trade routes with each other. In essence, they formed a network of kingdoms that acted as one, large kingdom.
The basic structure of the buildings within Yuki no Okoku resemble various areas of Asia, specifically the former appearance of China and Japan. Maybe the building are built out of wood, with only castles and the basic foundations the structures are built on being made of stone. The creatures that lurk within this kingdom are also very similar to those of Asian folklore, such as tanuki or even eastern dragons. Many also believe that their household objects may one day come to life, and that spirits are within many different things.
