All it takes is one bad seed to ruin the bunch. What should have been the highlight of the Destiny City Botanical Garden's Winter Extravaganza turned into a nightmare; their newly unveiled Winter Star Poinsettias had come to life and attacked! While there were no casualties and no severe injuries, many guests of the Botanical Gardens suffered slices from the razor-sharp leaves of the poinsettias and mild to severe bruising. That wasn't even the worst of it, though.

During the final battle, a blinding flash of light that spread across Destiny City left some with temporary blindness or difficulties seeing. Pollen fell like glittery snow across the city, afflicting many people with a strange winter-time 'allergy'. Anyone who inhaled the pollen may find themselves sneezing frequently, especially around a strong smell. They may also find themselves suffering from flu-like symptoms such as fever, coughing, fatigue, and nausea. No medicine relieves these ailments, however all symptoms will gradually disappear over the next week.

It doesn't seem to be contagious, but it's probably a good idea to take your vitamins anyway…

Sick. Why’d she have to get sick? Thank goodness she hadn’t really started feeling bad until the day before winter break rolled around. There had been some gross gunk in the air and didn’t Karone get sick as a bird afterwards. It wasn’t fair.

Especially around this time of the year, she had far too much to do, and it was the holidays for Pete’s sake. The longest break she got away from teaching until summer came around again. It just legitimately wasn’t fair. The woman was on her couch, stretched out as much as she could, cuddled under no less than three blankets. It was just so…so cold. And she felt cold, and weak and dizzy and so, so tired. It was such a shame because she had cookies…good cookies from that one guys bakery…and she wanted to eat them. She desperately wanted to eat them, but that was just so much effort…

Effort had never been her strong point when she was sick…and today was no different. This sickness was no different. She didn’t want to do anything but lay here and die. Okay, maybe not die, but lay here and slowly slip into madness as the infomercials stole her mind with all of their tags of ‘But wait! There’s more!’

But, was there really more? Karones mind flitted back and forth between coherent thought and mush, and she idly wondered just how people became…infomercial sales people. Was it a satisfying job? Did they get paid a lot to talk to a camera and act like they liked a product? Lord knows she didn’t get paid enough to talk to her class and pretend like she liked them, that much was for damn sure. It wasn’t that her kids were…were bad…they were just teenage girls…and…and that was enough to annoy anyone to death. Of course…everyone knew that the only thing worse than a classroom of teenage girls, was a classroom of teenage boys and girls…

That was the main reason she hadn’t jumped on the Romano’s hype, even though it did seem like a pretty sweet gig…she didn’t want to teach boys. She hated them, the stupid, rude, uncultured swine.

Oh god she was a raging hate lesbian, wasn’t she? Oh well. The world needed more like her to get the population under control. Seriously, she was good for the world.

With a groan, the purple haired woman sat up and rubbed at her eyes, getting the lukewarm cup of tea from off of the floor and bringing it to her lips, taking a long sip, which drained half of the cup. It did little to soothe the ache in her throat, but it was something at least. Ugh. What she wouldn’t give for Gently to come over with some chicken soup or some slippers or something. Anything. But…she didn’t want to get the other woman sick…and honestly hadn’t seen her in some time.

There was a small voice in the back of Karone’s head that idly wondered what she had done wrong, but then she just chalked it up to her girlfriend and mentor being busy. It was the holidays, after all…and hadn’t she been swamped with getting exams together…and grading exams and getting all of the final grades done? This time of year never made it easy to spend time with loved ones…even though that was the whole point.

Karone stared blankly at the wall for a moment before collapsing back against the pillows on the couch and closing her eyes. God, she hated being sick more than she hated anything. Except perhaps…Cosmos Knights. Maybe.
