Recently it seems like a strange sort of infestation has overtaken Destiny City: small, white rabbits that are rarely larger than a guinea pig have appeared. They are always pure white, with large eyes and wiggling noses. They are cute and apparently social, however when you least expect it they often bite. It's enough to break skin, but after one bite they run away. The injuries are no big deal--it's the after effects you have to watch out for. These bunnies are too skittish and fast to be kept for pets, but they are considered dangerous--especially for children and small animals! If you see one, what do you do? Call animal control? Attack it? Run away? Just be careful! If you get bitten, the next few days are going to be uncomfortable...
She didn't think much of them at first. Rabbits in the city were just fat meaty rodents weren't they? Stupid if a bit cute but Jane wasn't stupid. Any wild animal was dangerous and likely to bite and be gross and have ticks and flees and carry heavens only knew what and would probably cause her to get sick and die if she made contact.
Which might have explained why in a twisted sense Jane was so damn determined to catch one of the white hares that had begun to hope around the city. Maybe it would give her some terrible disease and she could just go crawl up under the blankets at some senshi's place and die in her sleep. Jane was so tired of the constant hopping she did herself home to home. She'd been offered to stay, make herself comfortable at so many places but she couldn't do it. Didn't they know how unsafe it was? To stay in one spot. Besides, Jane was known, ousted. They just had to follow her and know it was her and they her current home provider would get targeted and the second Jane would look away and not be there-
The moment she let her guard down there wouldn't be a home anymore. One more kind face would be erased and a body would be left to bleed out over carpet and tile.
The memory of her parent's bodies haunted her, months after.
Perhaps that was also why Jane was currently trying to catch one of the rabbits. They posed a challenge, a distraction from the fighting. They were just rabbits after all. Not chaos or anything. Just stupid-dumb breeding like rabbits- rabbits. Yet she also could hate them and not feel a need to hurt them. Dumb rabbits who pooped and hissed and ran too fast and ate what little green grew on sidewalks.
Most people didn't seem to have a hard time drawing them near enough for a small cute photo op or a soft cuddle before they'd rear their stupid heads and turn tables and bite like the sneaky rodents of fat and fur they were. But Jane was no dumb bunny as the one protagonist from the latest pixar movie said. Jane was smart, and she wore gloves iin her attempts to go rabbit wrangling. Which turned out as about as good as one expected. Not all that great of a plan.
She managed to lure them close but the second they got close enough they seemed to just know what Jane planned and zoom- they took off. It was like a really badly coded game that was designed so you couldn't win. Ever. Like the Lion King CD-I game of legend there was no end level, just a lot of failure.
As Jane tried her last attempted, it had been a mistake, a glove falling off and hand reaching out to grab-
the small bun bite down hard, pain blossoming.
And blood. There was a lot of that too.
