Take a deep breath. He could do this. He was stronger than this. After all he dealt with stubborn, dangerous and slightly trigger happy men all day and that wasn’t even getting into the category that was Vanna. So you would think that asking a pretty girl a question shouldn’t be so hard. However he had never felt this way before about any one. It was like Tempo had shown up and from that moment he couldn’t stop thinking about her.

Hell she had even found out a couple months back what he really did for a living and she had stayed around. Well after they worked out the whole him not telling her he was more than a charming and teasing Café owner. So why was he standing here about to knock on her door to ask her a question? Well because Yami wanted to imbue with Tempo.

He had always wanted a huge family; after all he was part geist and Baphomet. However two of his parents hadn’t even waited a full week after imbuing him before ditching him to the nine knew where and Yun had devoted all of his time and energy into making sure Yami felt loved so it had just been Yami growing up. Sure he had gotten somewhat of a family in his… job, but they were all in dangerous positions and you never know when their luck would run out and they’d get killed. Its why even though Yami wanted so desperately to have children he had kept all his relationships at practically an arm’s length away and any one that was close enough to friend imbue was in the same position and he didn’t want them to lose two parents.

Vanna had knocked some sense into him and he had eventually gone to the orphanage and adopted Mikazuki and Amatsu and they were the best children he could have. Then tempo had wandered in and Ila had joined their lives. However Yami was greedy. Oh so greedy and he wanted more. He had thought about adopting again but it had been such a long process to adopt the twins and somewhat of a nightmare. He was always worried they would find out he was mafia and take them away again. Plus Amatsu had started asking when he was going to get more siblings. In fact the twins had been constantly pushing him to get closer to Tempo.

Well if he didn’t ask her, it would always be a no and he would always wonder… but what if she said yes? With another deep breath he reached up and knocked on the door.

He was about to just blurt it all out but was stopped when Tempo smiled and hugged him. He returned it although it was definitely one of the tenser hugs he had ever had. He looked over her shoulder, which was pretty easy, to where Ila had to have been in the kitchen. Ah well he had been up for a job so he probably should have thought about the time better. No those were excuses he was going to ask his question and lay these ideas to rest finally.

“Ah, I actually should get home myself soon to help dad with the twins and the army of familiars Amatsu seems to have acquired. I ate with Vanna about three hours ago. I just popped over to ask you a question. I admit it isn’t the best of times but I was driving myself crazy. Tempo… um” Yami started and then almost smacked himself. Um… um… that was the best he could do? ugh he was way more eloquent than this. “wouldyouimbuewithme?” oh dear nine. This time his hand did meet his face.

Yami blinked at her as he suddenly had arms full of tempo again but then her words caught up with her and had to laugh happily. Why had he even been worried? Tempo had stayed with him through a lot already. Here he had been sitting there all morning worrying about asking her and here she was thinking that she wanted to imbue with him as well. He was starting to think as long as they had each other everything would be fine.

“ While I do need to go and get the twins ready soon why don’t I step in for a coffee and we talk it over a bit” He said looking down at his watch with a smile after leaning down and kissing tempo on the top of her head.
