It was like any other light, winter snow. It was chilly and clouds hung in the sky but if you looked up you could swear you could still see the stars. The snow falls gently and coats the ground in a light layer--but these aren't normal snowflakes. Mixed in with the regular snow, crystalized snowflakes seem to be falling. These are roughly the size of a quarter and are light and hollow. They are fragile, like glass, but glisten like a fine cut gem. No one can explain this anomaly, but these small snowflakes won't melt. And they are all over Destiny City. You can find them gently falling to the ground, or lying in the fresh fallen snow. They don't seem evil--but they do make for some cute keepsakes!
Rayna had been too busy over the recent weeks to notice anything was out of sorts around Destiny City. Looking back the teen was appalled at just how little time she had spent patrolling the streets as her powered self. Shaking her head in rueful fashion the teen knew that tonight was going to be another night in which she spent skulking around as just a normal civilian of the city. It was not that it was too risky to power up but considering that she had learned that chaos could sense order auras and vice versa Rayna just did not feel like taking a chance that she would encounter one that wished her harm.
Letting out a deep sigh Rayna found herself wandering through the park in which she had first encountered another senshi. Maia had been the most helpful individual since she had awakened into the battle between good and evil. Reminiscing brought her to the same bench that she had sat upon back then and she stared at the ground before stretching her limbs. Her gaze shot to the sky above and she smiled at the sight of stars just peeking through the clearing clouds. It was odd that such a sight could fill Rayna with joy but it did. Shaking her head Rayna pulled out her cell phone for a check on the time and sighed. Since turning a year older her parents had relaxed her nightly curfew. Of course what they did not know was that she routinely snuck out of the house after her parents fell asleep. Guilt gnawed at her sometimes but she told herself it was for the best.
Shaking herself out of thoughts of the past Rayna was startled to realize that snow was once again falling. Her quick glance to the sky confirmed her earlier assumptions that the clouds had receded so how was snow falling? Cupping her hands Rayna stood up from the bench and began to catch the flakes that were falling. Upon contact with her bare skin she expected the flakes to melt and disappear and yet she was puzzled when the flakes stayed intact. The girl was instantly on alert. This was definitely not normal. Rayna stopped her actions and let out the breath she had been holding. Gently she traced her fingers over the unusual snowflake in her palm before coming to the conclusion that she was holding something that was not of this world. It did not mean that she was alarmed. The teen glanced around at the ground and began to pick out that this odd little snowflake was not the first to have fallen to the ground. Treading carefully now Rayna began a slow spiral out from the bench where she had sat and began to gently tease out these tiny wonders from the actual snow that was heaped around. As careful as she was though Rayna shattered quite a few of the flakes before taking the scarf from around her neck and laying it on the ground. She transferred each unique snowflake to her scarf and stopped when she had ten of them secure. Instantly she knew that these would make perfect little gifts to her parents. Rayna checked her phone again and sighed. It was time to go home it seemed. Being very gentle Rayna gave each individual flake its own little bit of scarf before rolling the material into a bundle and tucked it under her arm. Without much preamble the teen began the trek home. It was odd how her travels had brought her to the park tonight but she had been more than surprised at the turn of events. She had stumbled across unique gifts that she could give to her parents that would hopefully be treasured for a long time.
