He moved a few baskets about in the laundry room, everything folded or finished. Pulling out a batch of his clothes, he folded them to get them ready to be packed. A few shirts and pairs of gloves.

Melody could not possibly get cleaned up fast enough, the jungle left every part of her feeling uncomfortable.
As soon as Melody got home, she ran to take a shower and put on a towel. She came to the laundry room to fetch some nice clean clothes straight from the dryer. What she found instead caused her to pause in her tracks and stare.
"Doing laundry?" She asked, far more concerned by what Melvin was doing than by what she was wearing.

Lioking around the room, his eyes settled on Melody slowly and stared at her a moment.
A good, long moment.
"Packing." He managed and pulled out the last articles of clothing from the dryer.
"I'm sorry but everyone will have to do laundry for themselves for a few days."

It hadn't occurred to her why he stared the way he had. Was he trying to think of the answer he had given her? She still didn't like the answers he had given her in any case and frowned at him.
"Wait. What? Why? Where are you going?"

"I want to take a moment to sort my thoughts out and I need the distance. I'm going to stay over at Jordan's for a while until I can figure out things. If you need anything though, you can call or text me. I'll come and help you if you need me. I don't want anyone thinking that I won't listen to any of you just because I'm not in the house." He set the clothes into the laundry basket and rubbed his head, pausing when he looked at his hand.
"I should have washed first." He said, suddenly aware that he had forgotten something very important. This lead to him looking at himself and frowning. He'd need to change too.

Melody frowned deeply and held the towel up with one hand as she approached to pat him on the back. "Is this because of Lawrence?"

Melvin just stared at Melody as she more or less gave him a reassuring pat - one that had him flashing back to his roommate in college doing the same when Mia dumped him.
"Y-Yeah. Too much is happening and with him and Rodney, I think I just need some air. Staying in the house just feels like too much right now. No offense to you, just that seeing them together is sorta too fresh of a stab wound."

"I had no idea you cared about him so much," Melody angled her head in a way she hoped came across as 'here is my shoulder, you may use it as you wish.'

He stared at her a moment.
"Melody, I've been with him for years. I wouldn't stick around if I didn't." He said, surprised it wasn't just obvious to everyone.

"You know I have no way of knowing that," she said with a sad tone, hand resting against Melvin's ribs as she side hugged him.
"All I know is what I've seen since moving here and a lot of it seemed.... ... Well... Angry." She gave him a lopsided look.

He went rigid to her hug, not sure if she knew that she was in nothing but a towel or if he should point it out, but he didn't want to make her uncomfortable for her trying to show him a kindness.
"Yeah....well.....we were kinda up and down a lot. We never bothered to really re-evaluate what we meant to each other. Since I didn't think I had competition that would stay longer than a hour with him, because he said he was never looking, then I didn't think I had to worry. I guess shame on the both of us for not.....cementing anything. Not that it matters much with him anyways. This isn't the first time he's changed the situation." He breathed out and looked at her.
"Sorry this probably sounds like you live with two crazy people with a lot of baggage."

"Oh honey," she pulled from the side hug to boop him on the nose. "If you think that's crazy then you don't know what crazy is."
She looked in the dryer that Melvin was fishing through and pulled out a simple white linen under dress, a pair of socks, and lacy underpants. She had to squat carefully to make sure she didn't accidentally flash him. She tucked the items under the arm holding up the towel and straightened again turning back to him.
"It sounds like it was complicated before all... That stuff happened though."

"We've been through a lot of ups and downs. A lot of changes. A ....lot of lies. Lawr had a sorta skewed way of trying to help me and doing things for what he felt were my best interests, but didn't know the emotional ramifications of what those actions meant. Though that time he was also trying to figure out who he was and re-imagined himself, which meant starting a new relationship over and over while still holding onto those heavy feelings from before. It's been a etch-a-sketch of relationships over and over with faint imagines still left over from the past one."
Saying it out loud made him breath out as he noticed something. "No wonder we were both left confused at the end."

"I think everyone will be left confused in the end," Melody noted out loud after hearing more of the details. She certainly felt confused. It seemed like those two were just friends with benefits for the longest time, but now...
"You won't be gone super long will you?" There was a slight wilt to her voice.

"I don't intend to.......but I honestly don't know. I don't how I'll feel when I step away and assess everything." He paused before looking over at her. "Don't tell Lawr that. I only said it was tentative."
