Quote:
Prompt: Strange snow flurries have been blowing through town, frosting entire buildings. Sometimes they come out of nowhere--overnight, or in the timespan of just a few short hours. Snow falls rapidly and ice coats doors and window, sealing them shut. These snow flurries are knocking out power, and worse--trapping people in buildings and cars. If one of these flurries hits, where do you wind up?

Though it was snowing today, Lopezite was on a mission. He had been meeting Fortuna weekly--same place, same time. Everything had been going well--until they planned to meet up as civilians...and she didn't show.

He had waited, of course--and though he'd run into his friend Aubrey, he had been otherwise ditched.

He planned to have words with Fortuna about whatever had gone on.

The snow was falling quickly, but it didn't seem too heavy. He made his way to the warehouse they always met in, certain that he was there if only because he could feel her energy signature. He hadn't seen her, but said as he entered, "You know, I had worried I wasn't going to see you again tonight. You missed our rendezvous. I thought something must have happened to you. But, you're here, so...what happened?"

He was eager to step inside and close the door before he immediately began to brush snow off of himself.

There was a thunk as a playing card, the Ace of Hearts imbedded itself in the door right next to Lopezite’s shoulder. As his eyes would have adjusted to the candle lit area he would find Fortuna sitting cross legged on the ground shuffling a deck of cards in front of her while she waited for Lopezite.

Every one of her movements was precise and calculated, the clack of cards slapping each other was surprisingly loud. It looked as if she moved with barely contained anger but her face was neutral as she examined the deck of cards in front of her.

“Oh, didn’t know you would make it this time… I waited for hours.” Her voice was soft but audible, the tone was neutral, not revealing how she felt about the situation, just making conversation. Just because her night ended up alright in the end, did not justify the fact that she had been stood up. The sound of the wind howling picked up as the snow fall began to quicken.

“I feel I could ask you the same question, I was there, so where were you?” she asked as she lay out cards in front of her in the solitaire game.

Lopezite raised a brow and slowly allowed his eyes to drift to the card before returning to the Senshi in front of him. He reached for her card and tugged it until it came loose.

His eyes narrowed just a bit, not in anger, but suspicion.

"You waited for hours? Where? Were you at the wrong fountain? I thought," he said, walking across the room. He held the card between two fingers and offered it to her before continuing, "that we were going to meet by the fountain with the mermaid carvings. In front of Jamesons? Right by the ice rink? Because, that's where I was. For hours."

He kept one brow quirked, studying her intently.

Fortuna took the card, the anger behind her eyes was slowly fading and a look of confusion crossed her features. She casually shuffled the ace back into her remaining cards and examined her piles instead of the negaverse agent in front of her.

“I was there too, though to be honest I’ve never tried to find someone’s civilian form before, the only person I know in both lives is the one who awakened me…” she frowned and began to draw her cards as she played out her game before she glanced up at him.

“But… I thought for sure I would know you.” She said quietly.

Lopezite's frown deepened and he cocked his head to the side. "From what I gather, we don't look the same. Powered, Civilian. I didn't know what to expect. I figured, at least, you'd have been a woman, alone. But I didn't see anyone. Truth be told," he paused for a moment and then shrugged. "I thought something might have happened to you. I thought maybe something came up and you couldn't make it. I worried," he confessed before shrugging quickly.

He didn't want to give away how relieved he was to see her here, even if he had been disappointed when she hadn't shown up.

"I don't know how I missed you. You were really there?" he asked, and though he sounded a bit dubious, he believed her.

"I guess I never thought about that, I just thought I would instinctively know you, but I guess it wouldn't be very good magic if I could." Fortuna frowned and stood up, brushing off the back of her legs and her knees before she looked up at him and crossed over to stand in front of him.

"I was really there, and I waited, but I guess that doesn't matter, because we are both here now." she told him with a small smile. Suddenly there was a roaring sound outside of the wind picking up tremendously and snow and sleet hitting the side of the building. The warehouse was by no means well insulated and the sudden drop in temperature had Fortuna shivering in her senshi skirt.

"What in the world..." she murmured as she moved over towards the door, she tried to open but the door was frozen shut, and after a few tugs she had to release the handle as her hands began to burn from the cold.

"I guess its understandable how you could think something would have happened to me... the door is frozen shut, and apparently there is now a blizzard outside? this is the weirdest city."

Lopezite watched her for another moment; he had just been about to reach out and stroke her cheek when she pulled away. He was vaguely aware of the chill but he was dressed in a few more layers than the Senshi and only seemed to really notice it when she pointed it out.

It probably helped that he'd just come in from the cold and was still feeling pretty numb to it.

He turned to face the door as she pulled on it and frowned. He reached out to tug on the handle as well, giving up after a few seconds.

"...I'm happy I made it here," he said after a moment. "'I'd have hated to be caught out there. The weather said it would snow, but I didn't hear anything about blizzards like this."

His eyes narrowed just slightly and then he looked at her. He didn't feel any energy signatures but couldn't help but ask, "Do you think this is a trap?"

"I would hate to think of what being outside in weather like this would do to a person... The weather in this city is ridiculous." she grumbled as a shiver over took her. Normally cold weather didn't bother her, in fact she loved it, but something about this unnatural chill made her uncomfortable in more than one way.

"Honestly it could be, it seems like everything, including the weather, is constantly trying to kill the people that live here, with or without someone being behind it I'm pretty sure we are stuck here for the time being." she didn't mention the mirror she had stashed away for quick escapes, it wasn't necessary yet and she didn't want to reveal all her court's secrets.

"But one thing is for certain if that little window up there is any indication, we are snowed in and we should probably keep moving before we freeze to death since there is no heat and not much insulation... how about a little sparing?" she offered looking up at him with a mischievous smile. Just because she understood and forgave him for not showing up did not mean she wasn't annoyed at the situation and having a chance to vent her frustrations in a physical way would be very helpful.

Lopezite pursed his lips and nodded thoughtfully. "Trapped here, with you? ...I can think of worse places to be." He ran his hands up and down his arms and then grinned. "A spar sounds perfect. I didn't bring any food this time, though, so let's not work too hard, eh?"

The truth was, he had a bit of frustration himself; it wasn't anger at her, but disappointment in the situation. He had wanted to meet up with her but they had missed each other. Naturally, his concern for her and confusion at the situation had built up. He was eager to work some of it off, and sparring, with her?

Never a dull moment.

"What are the rules?"

"Just enough to stay warm." Fortuna agreed as she stretched out her arms before shaking them out as she eyed Lopezite thoughtfully.

"I guess the normal rules of no visible marks left..." she said after a moments thought before she grinned at him. "distractions and cheap tricks are encouraged." she added with a wink as she fell into a defensive stance a few steps away from him.

Her eyes flashed briefly down his body, admiring the view, but also gauging from what angle he would come at her.

"And don't hold back."

"Distractions and cheap tricks!" Lopezite laughed. "I'm afraid I left my trick bag back home. Still--me?" he asked with mock surprise, placing one hand over his chest. "Hold back? Goodness."

The word almost sounded like a purr.

"It's like you don't know me at all."

There was something playful in his words, his posture, but there was something predatory as well. He wouldn't hurt her, but the more they got to know each other, the more he trusted his fighting skills--and hers. They were starting to understand how the other moved, and it meant that he could put more into it. They weren't strangers, delicately testing the water. He was starting to see where her limits were, and how much he could push against them.

He was stretching, rolling his shoulders--giving her the opportunity to look, and probably enjoying it a little bit.

"You get a chance to practice with your magic any more?"

As Fortuna watched Lopezite pose for her a slow grin spread across her lips and she felt heat rush through her body in tingling waves of excitement, adrenaline pushed not by fear but by lust.

A pretty large part of her wanted to just forget all the sparring and caution and just throw herself into passion and see where it lead... Unfortunately, Fortuna was too level headed for that, so fighting it would be.

"A bit, but it still basically does the same thing it can either make me stronger or make the other person reckless but it still effects everyone differently, and I can't control it. I know you think its worthless, but it can give me an edge in normal battle, maybe less so with you when we know each other pretty well... Just to be on the safe side I won't use it, just skill against skill..." her voice purred at the last line, as if her mind was thinking on other, less battle inclined things. She grinned and took a half step back and spread her arms out with a wink.

"Come get me."

Lopezite seemed amused; he looked like he was shifting positions to get into a better stance when he suddenly lunged. He was fluid, catlike and predatory, and seemed to have full confidence in his movements.

This wasn't just the boost the Negaverse was giving him--this was something else.

Something he'd had growing in him, cultivating, for years. Something the Negaverse couldn't just magically impart.

He reached her with speed and force, and yet, when he pinned her against the warehouse wall, it was with a strange gentleness. He caught one wrist in his hand and held her shoulder with the other.

"You're making it easy," he purred, barely more than a whisper in her ear.

He came at her with a sudden burst of speed that hadn't been shown in any of their fights thus far. 'So he really has been holding back on me... good to know.' she thought to herself as she checked her initial gut reaction to throw him off of her because when her back hit the wall and he pinned her there wasn't anywhere that Fortuna would rather be... except maybe on top, but for now she was content.

A slow cat like grin spread across her features as she arched her back and brushed up against him ever so slightly, just enough to tease before she leaned back against the wall in a more grounded stance, while she didn't break out of his hold yet it was clear she had considered it, but this was far more fun.

"Should I not? Maybe you should see a therapist if you enjoy your dates trying to hurt you." She purred back before she reached up with her free hand, between their bodies to grab onto his wrist that was holding hers, giving it a firm twist while she angled her body away she attempted to reverse their positions so that she would now be pinning him face first against the wall.

Lopezite's face was unreadable, even as she moved against him. He didn't speak, even when she shoved him against the wall.

She had the advantage, but only briefly.

"At least I didn't try to feed you the wall," he grumbled; the position was uncomfortable and he certainly had no intention of staying that way.

He was more flexible than he'd let on before; with sheer force he managed to shove his knee up and against the wall and gain enough momentum to hurl himself away from the wall, breaking her grip on him.

Though he stumbled back, he caught himself quickly. He brushed himself off and fixed his hair, giving her the opportunity to catch and adjust herself as well.

"Were you tired of looking at my face?" he asked, only partly teasing.
