It was one night like a hundred others for Sidney James, the Technicolor Butterfly, as she fluttered and swayed through the crowd. Not shining on the stage tonight, but joining the ecstatic crowd on the floor to lose herself in it all for a while. It wasn't a bad thing, really, that this night was no different than any other... this was the life Sid had chosen for herself, and she reveled in it, as at home there as any fish in water or bird in the air. The only real difference was more layers than normal, finally giving in to the cold outside. The other nine months of the year she might test her cold endurance with tiny skirts and loose tanks, but winter had hit DC hard and there was little flesh on the bright-haired D.J. to handle it. She did her best anyway with thick tights speckled with runs. A pair of cut off shorts rhinestoned to within an inch of their life below a dark tank, and an actual crop jacket, covering her thin arms. She still sparkled though, and the people who kept pulling her into dances with them seemed to like it well enough. The small woman held out as long as she could, enjoying the attention and the flirting, before she had to beg off and slip her way between bodies to find the bar. The lights from the stage caught in her wild mop and sparked off her piercings as she grinned and ordered a Long Island from the bartender, paper money pulled from her bra to slap down on the counter. She took the drink when it was done with a gusty, exaggerated sigh of pleasure and spun to lean against the bar in a lazy sprawl, her ankles crossed and her fingers curled around the damp sides of her glass. Magenta eyes swept the moving people and Sidney smirked as she sipped, as much enjoying the view as she was looking for something... or someone. She still didn't have any plans tonight, and that was a terrible shame. Surely there was someone here who'd love to fix that for her... A squint at a tall blonde before she dismissed him out of hand, the jerky way he danced hinting he might lack rhythm in certain other areas too. The brunette looked like fun, but oops, there was her girlfriend, coming up to drape around her. There might be some openness for a third, but there was no sense putting her all her money on it when there were still so many lovely people here.

Her 25th birthday had been on the 8th, and Shahar was still drinking, almost 10 days later. Oh, she had eaten bar nuts, taken showers, and slept (she thought) but most of the rest of her time had been hopping from one place to the other, finding people who would buy her a drink, and people to.... celebrate.... with.
Tonight, however, she was finally running dry. She'd tried a new bar in lieu of her usual, and people seemed more interested in dancing than booze, and while dancing was usually awesome- not when she couldn't remember what sleep was. It was hard enough keeping from falling off her heels, and they were strapped to her.
Which made sense. Probably.
She brushed her sea-colored hair off her cheeks, puffing out a breath of air and crossing her ankles, using the bar to stretch out her back in a leisurely motion. And it was that action which gave her a look at someone.... interesting. She was a short bundle of rainbow, and she didn't seem to have anyone around her. So... well.
Straightening up to her full height, she rolled her shoulders and tested her balance before moving over to the other woman, giving her a toothy smile. "I'm Shar," she said without preamble or tact, "Need company, or do I buzz off?"

Someone was cutting a wobbly path towards her, but she didn't pay it much mind until it was obvious it was towards her. Sid perked up with interest at the leggy, blue-haired lovely that was smiling at her and her ringed lips pulled into a wide-mouthed smile. "Hel-lo, gorgeous." She purred, a giggle behind it. The chick was obviously drunk, but Sid was not going to turn her away, not when she topped her by inches and looked like she worked out. "I'm Chou and you are VERY welcome to join me. I love pretty company. Do you need your drink topped off?" She gestured at her drink with her pointed chin as an excuse to sweep a look down her again, unabashed and appreciative as she turned to face her. "Hard to believe you don't already have someone under your arm tonight. Did you come looking for a friend, or are you ditching a clinger?" The small woman teased as she lofted her drink to sip it, tongue ring flashing as she caught her straw.

Her accent was thicker when she was drunk, and she drank in the sight of the petite rainbow in front of her appreciatively. " Pleased to meet-Chou," she said with a laugh, leaning her arm against the bar. "And I'd love to let you top... my drink." Shoving a long-fingered hand through her hair, Shay considered the other woman with undisguised interest. "You can call me Shay," she told Chou definitively, lips curving. "And I came looking. Ditching a clinger is easy. Finding someone I want to cling is a little more... enjoyable." Turquoise eyes flicked over the flashing tongue ring, and her gaze sharpened beneath the veneer of liquor. "I've never come to this bar before. Everyone is very lively." And very loud, but perhaps that was how Chou liked it. Shar didn't mind loud- in the right circumstances. The right circumstances were not here in a bar. Dressed. "And why do you not have anyone to keep you company tonight, Chou?" It was fortunate if she had no one, anyways. And if she did, perhaps they would still want company. Shahar didn't mind such things.

Sid let out a sharp little laugh, surprised and delighted by the pun. It took a special, brave person to chance it when they make their approach... or maybe someone drunk enough to think they were hilarious. It was cute though, and certainly worked on her. The D.J.s eyes sparked as she turned to wave down the bartender, gesturing him over with a couple of brightly painted fingers. "Shay." Sid hummed, drawing out the vowel between her lips. "Nice. I'm a bit like you, I think... I'm looking too. I'm alone, because I hadn't found anyone interesting yet." The bartender stepped over and Sid offered him a bright smile, taking her cup and Shay's to push across the bar top to him. "Top up, please." She chirped. "Long Island for me, and for my new friend...?" The short woman waved towards her drink as she dug some bills out of a tight back pocket, squirming to wedge her fingers in and get the money out. It wasn't all for show... but maybe a bit. "Its kinda loud here, isn't it?" She said as she leaned closer to Shay to be heard over the music. Her head tilted like a playful bird, bangs falling in her eyes. "I know a place that's quieter, if you're interested."

The fact that Chou was in a mood to laugh at Shahar's little joke pleased the Egyptian woman, and she lit up like a little sun, her face glowing at the rainbow's pleasure.sliding in closer, she kept her attention firm on the object of her interest, sparing little mind to the bartender. Bright eyes drifted over Chou's hued nails, and Shahar eyes her own rough, unpainted fingers briefly. "Well," she mused, letting her accent roll off her tongue like warm honey, "that sounds a tragedy, Chou. I will have to do my best to be absolutely titillating." The bartender stepped over, and Shahar looked over at Chou, eyes lingering on her mouth. A million trite lines slipped through her mind, but she said, "Old Fashioned." Sweet and bitter, just like Shahar liked her booze. Yet her eyes drifted down to the wiggling, squirming fingers, appreciative and downright hungry. "It is a bit loud," her accented voice was coy, playful. "If you know someplace quieter, I would be happy to follow." she reached out, sliding a finger to stroke Chou's arm lightly. "Perhaps liven up the silence."

There was a finger running down her arm and in it’s wake, goosebumps ran rampant, lifting up the small hairs at the back of Sid’s neck. Excitement was electric, zipping through her veins with little tingling sparks. “Yo! Hey!” Sid called as she turned, half her mind on the bright face that was smiling at her. She dug into her wallet and fished out a few bills, uncaring how much it really was. Figure whatever extra would be a decent tip, she wasn’t going to worry about it when she had far more interest things being promised. She slapped them down on the counter and waved off the drinks he was refilling with an impatient gesture he seemed to understand immediately when he glanced to the woman standing behind her. There was a bit of a smirk on his face, but the DJ was already turning, reaching out to hook her arm around Shay’s with ******** the drinks. I can make all of this at home, and I don’t have to pay for it. Again.” She laughed as she blew the bartender a playful air kiss. “Come on.” She said as she let her hand smooth down the back of Shay’s arm to tease the underside of her palm with her fingertips in invitation. Her smile was bright and cheery as she paced backwards in her tall black boots, all sparkles and rainbow. “Let me make you a real drink and some real music. Maybe you can show me how you dance. I’ll call an Uber.”

Chou calling out to the bartender and waving away the alcohol was almost exactly the effect Shahar was desiring to have on the shorter woman. She gave the bartender a faint apologetic shrug of not-apology, and a grin. "Buying me a drink you did not even get to enjoy," she said, leaning in close to Chou's ear and clucking her tongue. "I will have to make it up to you, Chou." The smaller woman wound her arm in Shay's own, and the Egyptian beamed, running her other hand through her hair. "Taking you up on that offer is to my extreme pleasure." Was her extreme pleasure? Grammar aside, she was hopeful for plenty of pleasure. Chou was tall boots, soft skin, shimmer and vibrant color, and Shahar followed her steadily, suddenly much less graceless now that the hunt was at an apex. "I like drinking, I like music, and I know the theory behind how to dance." her eyes danced with laughter as she slipped to Chou's side, tucking herself in closer to the vibrant body. "Sounds like tonight could be much more fun than I was concerned about. I cannot wait."
