Permission had been granted. Tethys had been somewhat vague on the details but when he had implied that he had encountered someone referring to not one, but both of his parents, his Captain had given him leave to investigate. He was still expected to keep track of where he was going, and to take note of anything that might have been of use to them, but he could allow his priorities to shift towards locating his relatives.

For the most part, it seemed his Captain had acknowledged that as this was a family matter Tethys had cause for concern. While Tethys had assured him that both parents were generally very capable, on this occasion he just needed to make sure. The individual had been too specific and a little too close for comfort, he'd been left with far too many questions and well...

Simply put, he needed to find his mother.

Consequently, the lion now found himself stomping back and forth over the mountain range in search of clues here and there that might help him locate his mother. Quite frankly, it was a lot like looking for a needle in a haystack. Short of screaming his lungs out on the off chance he would be heard, he was quickly running out of ideas, thus it was by the grace of lady luck herself that he caught sight of the tell tale signs that his mother had been nearby and she had been nearby recently.

"There you are..." he murmured fondly, setting off along the trail of the ripening berries and fruits that often came in to season much to early when his mother was around...

The goddess was rather popular today it would seem, or rather, she was more popular when it came to her definition of 'days'. It hadn't felt like long at all since the green lioness had crossed paths with her and queried her. Granted, the lioness had seemed rather confused by her declarations that the individual she was looking for had been her mate at some point in time...But following her conversations with one of the more worldly leopards she knew, she had grown to realise that this was probably because Rabbits couldn't breed with lions.

Hindsight was 20/20 of course.

Nevertheless, she had given her somewhat vague directions, the young lioness hadn't seemed dangerous, but Arimathras had also learned that she shouldn't be too forthcoming with information. She might not have considered her to be dangerous, but Destati might very well have agreed and if there was one thing that male was very capable of, it was a lecture.

Admittedly his lectures did make her feel warm and fuzzy, like he actually cared about her during those moments, but after a while it all turned in to white noise. He could be very enthusiastic about making his point sometimes... and this time she had learnt her lesson!

Still, this didn't stop her from taking note of the fact that someone else had now found her, and this one didn't appear to be a chance encounter. In fact, this one seemed to be following right behind her, as if it were following her trail...

"WhoooOooooOoo gooooes theeere?" she chimed musically, deliberately trying to mimic one of the theatrical performances she had seen before.

Obviously, she failed.

Miserably.

"You," he stepped over a particular large shrub that had grown in his path and finally laid eyes on his mother. "Are getting so much worse," he concluded, shaking one of two spines from his foot, they had come from a bizarre looking fruit half way down the path. Of course he wasn't referring to the the sprouting fruits, berries and other crops in the area, he was making reference to her terrible attempts to sound ghostly.

She didn't even look like a ghost, she was completely solid.

"What crap have you been watching this time?" he asked as he drew closer and gave the lioness a fond nuzzle. Bizarrely, she always seemed to look rather youthful, but he had heard from his father that many gods were older. It was as if she had simply become 'stuck' in this form and hadn't made any attempts to change it.

"Because if it's those pantomimes again, you and I need to discuss which ones are better for everyone's sanity, I don't think the ghost ones are going to work in the long term," he remarked. A twinkle in his eye, he gave her another nudge and took a seat. "You're a long way from your traditional haunts, what brought you all the way up here...?" he asked curiously.

"Ah, your language is as eloquent as ever," Ari giggled as her son closed the gap and gave him a fond lick. Big as he might be now, he was still a baby in her eyes... frankly all her children were, even if Tethys and Dione had never had the opportunity to meet them. She wasn't sure if they ever would not, but she would at least plant a seed to let them know where some of them were.

Afterall, her twins had made their home on the coast and so too had Solomon... They might have been from different prides but it wasn't too difficult to have orchestrate an encounter. Truth be told, it would be good for Tethys to meet at least one of his older siblings, to know they were there... And Solomon was a good lion. Come rain or shine, if Solomon were to know of his half-brother, then it was likely he would embrace him.

"I saw the most adorable little theatrical display by some cubs near a musical tribe, they play drums!" she grinned and clapped her paws together. "They put on a series of performances, they were all very good and they poured their hearts into them," she continued to gush with enthusiasm before he interrupted her with his final question. Both her eyebrows raised in response but she had no reason to hide it from her child.

"Oh I was spying on your father," she replied. "I was curious as to what he was doing," she leant in and whispered. "He's always so mysterious, never told me anything and so I said to myself, 'Ari, you're a god...just fly after him and find out what he's doin'... So I did!"

She didn't add that her former mate had also behaved in the same way, often disappearing without a trace until one day she simply had no idea where he was. While Destati hadn't promised his paw to her forever, she didn't exactly want him vanishing in to thin air either; she was rather inclined towards him and she would sooner have known he was safe!

Well that answered that question, his mother did indeed know where his father was though she seemed as much in the dark about what he was up to. For a goddess, she certainly wasn't all seeing and all knowing, perhaps that was what made her so incredibly relatable even though she did stick out like a sore thumb! That being said there was a small part of him that had hoped she might know what Destati was up to... It was a shame that she didn't.

"So you know where he is then," he murmured after a few moments and pursed his lips. He would have preferred to leave his father to his business but on this occasion it seemed pertinent not to. At the same time, he was happy to see that his mother seemed to be as bubbly and healthy as ever.

"Would you happen to know where I could find him?" he said finally and tilted his head to the side. "I need a quick word," he added and rubbed at his paw. "Or rather I need to check a couple of things with him before I head back home..."

"Huh, I see I see," she nodded her head rapidly as though she were working through a number of thoughts. Truthfully, the goddess was seeking to guilt trip her son into acknowledging that he hadn't tracked her down to cuddle her, but he had actually been after information. "I see how it is, no interest in telling your mother you love her, instead it's just where's dad..." she sighed dramatically and placed a paw to her forehead.

"Woe is me," she announced. "My children love their father more than me, whatever shall I do!"

Fortunately for Tethys, she did cease in her teasing long enough to fix him with a more serious stare. It was the same one he had inherited, piercing and soul searching when required. A moment or two more of silence and then she closed her eyes.

"Your father is on the third mountain top within this range, about midway up and making his way through a variety of caves," she shook her head slowly. "He appears to be looking for something, though I haven't the slightest idea what that might be," she pursed her lips. "I suspect he's still there, though he might leave if he finds nothing and move to the next one... He seems to have been at this for weeks, if not months..."

"But if you go, please tread carefully, the footing is not good and I would sooner you weren't hurt."

"What you are going to do," he said with a light chuckle. "Is go and say hello to Dione," he replied and swatted at his mother. She was often overly dramatic, but she had always made certain that her children knew, without any doubt, that her love for them was absolute. Fortunately, she also knew that this was returned in kind, Tethys had yet to meet any of his siblings who might disagree with her.

"It's been a while since you've seen her and she would like the boost," he pointed out gently. While Dione often liked to gain her father's approval, she had often taken her mother's love for granted... Tethys was beginning to suspect that she missed the rather loud cheering of her mother from the sidelines. When the encouragement wasn't there, it could be surprisingly hard to stay motivated.

However when he was leveled with that stare he did shift a touch uncomfortably, only breathing a sigh of relief when his mother finally gave him the information that he needed.

"Thank you," he murmured gently and gave his mother a loving nudge. "I'll be careful," he reassured her as he made his way back through her trail. "I'll even come and cuddle you when you visit Dione, prove that I'm ok!" he added and set off at a run...

His mother did nothing more than way her paw as he ran back out of view...Though after a time, she did spread her wings, and take flight.
