He had made a decision as he descended from the slopes; it hadn't been one he had expected to make, but it had simply come to him and it had stuck. In the space of a week he had stumbled across the same lioness he had defeated not once, but twice before. She had been as naive as she had been the first time as well, and didn't seem entirely capable of learning from what he had said even though he had answered his questions.

While she hadn't been suited for the Vikings, she lacked the strength to be of use, he now felt honour bound towards his father to ensure that the lioness did at last stand a fighting chance when it came to surviving on the outside. If she were to exist in a world where those things dwelled, then he was going to ensure that she could at least go for their eyes.

Granted, he had no idea how this 'trance' state worked, but at the very least he could teach her to be more alert.

...Which she wasn't being at the moment.

"You have got to be the worst lion I know for any form of awareness," he muttered as he caught sight of the female. She had (thankfully) walked in the direction he had instructed her, but she was once again spacing out into the far unknown.

"W-what?" she practically leapt out of her fur and fell over her own back paws as she regarded the now all-too-familiar lion. He had come out of nowhere, she hadn't even heard him and given he was upwind from her, she couldn't have caught his scent either! At this point she had every right to be startled, he had specifically ordered her to go in this direction to avoid another encounter and now he was here.

Had he changed his mind?

She regarded him with a mild form of suspicion and stepped back a few paces. With her tail between her legs and ears pressed against her head, she had made it very clear that she now had a reason to suspect him. That being said, she did still have some courage within her and her eyes said as much.

"You've changed your mind, haven't you?" she stated as she prepared to run. Perhaps the rogues had been right, perhaps it was all just an illusion of honour and kindness. Was she sport, had he wanted to see what she might do? "I might not be stronger than you but I'm definitely faster than you," she warned him.

"You won't catch me."

Suspicion, very good, she was learning. Nevertheless he took the opportunity to shake his head at her questions and raised a paw in the hopes she might cease. As she stepped back, he almost gave a nod of approval, but at this current moment in time that wouldn't serve him well. On the contrary, on this occasion it was in his best interests to keep her in place.

She was of an unfortunate colour, he was aware of that now, and this was perhaps his one opportunity to prevent a tragedy.

"On the contrary," he replied and lowered his paw again as he came towards her. "I stand by my word, i have no desire to enslave any who have no wish for it," he stated and came to a halt. He was much closer now, he could swipe at her from here, but instead he kept his paws to himself and regarded her with a rather intense gaze. How exactly was he supposed to offer his services in the given circumstances? This wasn't exactly his forte and he was acutely aware of how random it was!

"I've actually come to help you," he said after a few moments and cleared his throat. "Or rather, to give you the means to help yourself, whichever way you would prefer to take the offer..."

She raised a brow, she had every right to do so as well. First the lion had chased her off, now he had tracked her down to offer his services. Something didn't sit right with her and 'naive' as he might have thought she was, she knew when something was more than it seemed. Something had lit a fire under his a** and it had sent him hurtling in her direction, and he really had hurtled, the distance he had covered had been rather impressive.

She'd know, she had made sure to put significant mileage between herself and his band!

"Help myself?" she repeated. The drawl escaped before she could control it and she pursed her lips, of all the crap she had heard before, this really took the cake. She'd never actually had someone instruct her to stay away or be enslaved, only for them to declare they'd had a change of heart. Last time she checked, hadn't he already helped by giving her perfectly logical advice... you know, the whole 'stay away' thing?

"How can I help myself any more than staying away from you, just like you asked?"

All right, so the lioness had a point.

His expression morphed in to one of acceptance, the corner of his lip twisting up as the voice in his head declared 'huh yeah, she does have a point'. However, he soon stilled his features and released a sigh. Valid as her rebuttal might be, she wasn't aware that the game had changed, nor did he expect her to be aware of this either.

"Valid," he remarked and raised a paw again, a single toe pointed up. "However the situation has changed and I now believe it is imperative to give you advice that is compromised of more than just 'run away very fast'," he continued and took a seat, eventually his paw came to rest on top of the other as he regarded the lioness. In certain lights, she didn't look white, perhaps this would be advantageous to her...?

"If I don't, I have reason to believe that you will not be on this mortal coil for much longer," he grimaced and glanced over his shoulder briefly. "Credit where it's due you are tenacious, I would sooner you were not snuffed out before you were able to show your true colours," he indicated.

"So if you are willing, I would at the very least like to provide you with some constructive feedback from the previous two times in which you attempted to battle me..."

Well that was just all roses and rainbows wasn't it? At some point in the brief period she had distanced herself from him and his friends, someone had put a target on her back and decided she was meant to die? Frankly, that was all sorts of rude, and she had half a mind to demand who it was. However, if they were indeed trying to kill her and they were as big as him, she might be in rather dire straights...

"You are aware of how weird this is, right...?" Naima hazarded as she regarded the lion, though she was pleased to see he looked reasonably discomfited and not at all at home with his surroundings. It seemed that he too found this all to be a touch out of sorts.

"But if someone is really trying to kill me then it would probably be smart for me to agree..." she sounded measured as she continued to regard him. Rose coloured irises fixed on his position even as he stood up once more. "I would sooner I had the opportunity to enjoy my life and all that it had to offer, rather than it being cut short," she paused. "Given that you dealt with me so handily..."

She hesitated.

"In the words of my mother it would serve me well to learn from my mistakes," she murmured. It was with this in mind that she gave him a nod. "So I will accept your feedback if you will provide it..."

"Excellent." The lion clapped his paws together and took a breath. Striding towards her, he nudged her with his tail and pushed her towards open ground. "We have a lot to cover, and we have very little time," he continued and cast a somewhat urgent glance towards her. If she had doubted him before, his expression now made it abundantly clear he hadn't been lying. She was at risk and on this occasion, he was there to help her.

"I sincerely hope you are a quick study..." he added softly.

And thus he continued for several days, at first outlining her failings and then her vulnerabilities. From there, he began to instruct her until she had learnt to cover these vulnerabilities. She even learnt to adapt, and she displayed the ability to take decisive action on the fly. Frankly, he was rather proud.

...However, he had eventually come to the end of his leave of absence and in all honesty, he had done all that he could. When he had assured her of this and taken his leave, he hadn't intended for her to follow.

More interestingly?

Well, he hadn't intended for her to march straight into his camp, turn her chin up at his Captain, and then immediately challenge Tethys to a rematch. If there was ever a time for him to go "What?" it was then... but it would have been cowardice to deny her. Thus the stage was set, and when they returned to the home of the Stormborn, he would give her another chance to prove herself worthy...
