Senshi were just so easy to sneak up on and frighten, it almost wasn’t even that fun. Cavansite had been working on cornering the brightly colored senshi for a good...twenty minutes by now? She wasn’t fun at all, she wouldn’t turn around and fight. Seriously, what was the point of battle...of being involved in this war if you weren’t even going to stand and fight? Useless is what the girl was. Useless.
The captain pondered if she should waste her energy by teleporting closer to the senshi, but decided against it...for now at least. She wasn’t sure if she would need the energy later to accomplish that little trick, and if she used it now for show...well, then she couldn’t use it later if she really needed to. “Come on, little senshi. I won’t hurt you, well, maybe I won’t. Why don’t you wanna stop and chat a while?”Elvira did not want to chat. Not with this crazy Nega lady...even though she looked so pretty with her purple hair and purple outfit...she did not seem pretty, not by a long shot. She seemed mean. And quite terrifying. Especially when she was ripping the starseeds from a perfectly normal person who was doing absolutely nothing wrong!
To be perfectly honest, Elvira didn’t normally tussle with any sort of chaos infected person, not if she could help it...she wasn’t a great fighter by any means and hated the idea of fighting...also she was kind of really afraid of what would happen if she lost the fight...and the way this lady was talking, she quite honestly thought that losing the fight might be a thing that could happen. That would happen.

Virell was on his way home, taking shortcuts where he could and not particularly caring for the world around him. He was playing on his phone, minding his business--either oblivious to the fact that not paying attention was dangerous, or he just didn't care. Maybe, some small part of him was looking for trouble.
...But probably he was just oblivious.
It was cold out, so he couldn't imagine wanting to spend any more time out here than he needed to. His hair was pulled into a low braid behind him and he drew his long coat closer to try and fight off the chill.
He could hear voices in the distance and decided he didn't want to bother them, so he picked up his pace.
It was someone else's trouble; he knew how this town could be.
Everybody had problems; the last thing he wanted to do was make more for himself.

Cavansite’s eyes glinted maliciously when they landed on the blonde male who was walking closer and closer to the pair of superpowered girls. Well, maybe the little brat would try and fight if she put yet another civilian in danger...after all, one could never have too many starseeds, or maybe she could do like Sanidine had and turn the poor guy into a youma….she was quite sure he’d make a pretty youma, what with all that hair...and that was something exciting to try, now wasn’t it?
“All right, senshi. I see how it is, you don’t want to play with me, luckly, someone else is here for me to busy myself with, and he looks like he’ll play with me.”
She teleported then, right in front of Virell. “Won’t you sweet thing? Won’t you play with me? The mean ol’ senshi over there keeps running, maybe I can give her a reason to play if you’re involved~”
Her hand rested against the blonde's chest and she glanced away, trying to catch sight of the stupid little senshi. “Whoopsie~ Guess I’ll be getting another starseed tonight~ Pity there’s nobody around to stop me, since someone doesn’t want to fight. Are you really going to let another person die because you’re too weak to do anything?”Elvira froze. No...no no no, there was not supposed to be another civilian around! Didn’t these people have anything better to do than walk around at night alone?!?
She had already watched one person die tonight...she wasn’t going to let another get hurt when she had the chance to actually do something about it. After just a moment's hesitation, the senshi turned and looked at the Captain, with her hand ready to snatch yet another starseed for the night. She couldn’t let this happen but…
But fear was rooting her to the spot and she felt as though she couldn’t breathe, couldn’t do anything. If Arias were here, he’d know what to do...he’d be able to do something impressive and get this awful lady away from the guy...he’d run in and save the day and everything would be all right after...but he wasn’t here. It was only her...and she was just so alone out here. It wasn’t really fair...but...but she wasn’t weak! Who did this Nega lady think she was calling her weak...because, Super Sailor Elvira was a lot of things...but she didn’t want weak to become one of those things.
“No. No I’m not going to let you kill someone else you monster! Get your hands off of him!” Elvira marched towards Cavansite and drew her hand back, smacking the woman as hard as she could across the face. There. How could anyone say she was weak now?
...Foolish maybe, but not weak. The Guardian Cat who had been tailing the blonde young man for quite some time had frozen where she sat, hunched in the bushes. Well, her poor new senshi was in quite a pinch now, and she couldn’t awaken him when there was that horrible woman there...even though he did quite need to be awakened at this moment.
When she saw Elvira--one of her awakened senshi going in to help him, Julienne felt a surge of pride for the girl. She had grown up just like Lenka! How wonderful...but smacking her...had smacking really been the only thing she could think of?
Though...perhaps she had already used up all her magic...that would account for something, right?
She waited, hoping beyond hope that the Captain would get distracted enough to forget about the unawakened senshi...then at least she could do her job and get Elvira some assistance!

Virell wasn't unfamiliar with catfights, but he was pretty sure he'd somehow gotten right in the middle of one.
Two women--girls?--arguing about something, angry, slapping each other? It had to be.
He watched, lips pursed and somewhat wide-eyed at the exchange. He was an unwilling spectator and decided that the best thing to do was slip out unnoticed, if he could. He cautiously slid his phone into his pocket, trying to be discrete, and began to back away while the girls were distracted.
...Should he have done something? Tried to intervene, calm them down? ...Probably. But he knew better than to mess with women who were wearing strange clothes, slapping each other.
No, thank you, he'd rather be home and away from that craziness. He could call the police as soon as he was around the corner--and while the two were busy, he made a run for it.

Cavansite was surprised by the sudden slap to the face. Honestly of all the things for the senshi to do, that had not been top on her list of ‘good ideas’, and honestly the captain was more than a little disappointed that this was all the senshi could come up with. She really was just a weak little thing after all.
“Really? That’s what you have for me? A tender caress upon my cheek? My goodness little senshi, I thought for sure a person's life would mean more to you than that.” She paused, glancing around, thinking that the blonde was still right there, and becoming more than a little surprised when she saw that he was not where she had left him.
With a scowl she half heartedly turned her head to see where he had gone off to, but decided she had a much better prize right in front of her.
“Aw, I see what you’ve done now, little senshi. You were just giving your life in exchange for his, hm?” Her hand shot out and slid into the super senshi’s chest, wrapping her fingers around the delicate crystal that was hidden inside.
“What a nice girl you are. But, I’m afraid that I won’t take you up on the trade. I’ll be taking both his starseed as well as yours.” With a flourish she tugged out the gem. Carlee’s eyes went wide when the hand was shoved inside her and a small cry of pain and surprise escaped her lips. This wasn’t supposed to have happened...This wasn’t at all what was supposed to have happened…
She had made a terrible, horrible mistake and...and now there was nothing but pain, and slowly the senshi crumpled to the ground, unable to do or say anything.
...She hadn’t even gotten to tell Arias goodbye…
...This wasn’t supposed to happen…Julienne watched in horror as the young senshi had the soul ripped from her body, and before she could think of doing anything, she forced the pen for the unawakened boy to appear and she made her way to him as quickly as she could. “Boy. Boy I need you to take this. We have to help Elvira, and I can’t do it on my own! Please.”
She moved closer to him and tried to toss the pen from her mouth to him, hoping he’d catch it, if not...or if he didn’t take it...well. Then she’d have to find another way to make him take it, for he had to take it. Everything was riding on him now.

Virell stumbled back half a step when the cat all but threw the pen at him. At first he thought he was just plain hallucinating--anxiety could do that to you, right? Or had someone slipped him something? That sounded like a person, not a cat. He was missing something here.
"I'm calling the police," he said, holding the pen in one hand as he fumbled with his phone, trying to pull up the keypad on his phone.
"I'm going as fast as I can," he insisted, barely casting her more than another glance. His mind was playing tricks on him it had to be. Briefly--for a split second--he glanced at what the...voice had given him.
It was dark; he couldn't tell what it was but he suddenly expected the worst. "W-what is this, a weapon?" he asked, nearly dropping it.

“No boy, the police can’t do anything for this. But you can, and I need you to. Please.” She was glad he had at least taken the Henshin pen and hoped that would make the whole thing easier, but he seemed so...jumpy.
“It’s not...not a weapon, not really but I need you to repeat after me. ‘Alya Power Make-Up’, you have the power to help her, without you she’ll die, you have to do this. Please.” The cat was nearly crying, worried sick for the senshi...for all of them, to be honest. “If you don’t do this, we might all die, we need you, Sailor Alya. Please.”

The talk of death and people dying--and he might not be able to see very well, but he could hear the tears in her voice. It was stressful and he wasn't sure exactly what she wanted from him. He repeated, more confused than anything else, "Alya Power Make-Up? What is that? What does that--"
His voice cut off as soon as he felt things moving around him. Things changing. Things he couldn't control. He felt his clothes slide off, replaced with a strange warmth that rushed over him like falling rain. His things disappeared and he took a step backwards, confused.
He looked at the cat through squinted eyes--because, yes, now he knew that she was a cat, and he suspected strongly that he had heard her speak.
"I'm not a hero," he insisted. "I don't think I can save anyone."
He sounded hesitant, uncertain. He didn't know what was going on, but he was used to going with the flow.
...Right now he felt things. It wasn't anxiety, but it was a strange pressure on his chest, in his mind. Like he could feel things, crashing down on him, suffocating him. It was coming at him from three different directions, in three different waves.
From the cat, in front of him, and from the two girls he'd run from.

Good. He powered up. They stood a chance now. But...she had to explain quickly. “You are a hero, you are Sailor Alya, the senshi of apathy, my name is Julienne, and I’ll be your guardian, I’ll help you, but right now we have to help Sailor Elvira...what I need you to do...What I’m going to do is I’ll go in and attack first, but I need you as backup, Alya. When I attack, I’m going to end up as week as a kitten, and my attack won’t do much more than make her angry but when you come up after me, you need to use your magic...it won’t be hard. All you have to do is point at her and say ‘Touch of Apathy’, your magic will be activated then…”
Julienne’s fur was standing on end as she finished speaking, and without another word, she ran back towards the fallen senshi and the Negaverse captain, letting out a cry of rage and letting loose with a blast from the star on her forehead.

The cat was gone before Virell could even protest. He wanted to tell her that he didn't want to go fight, but she hadn't given him a chance.
It was probably for the best; she didn't give him a chance to deny it, either.
He was still thinking it might have been easy enough to run away--except, he didn't exactly understand why she was calling him a different name, or why he was wearing a different outfit, or where his things had gone.
He wasn't a coward, either. Not really. He kept to himself, but he knew it was a big, bad world out there.
...And if he could do maybe one good thing, fine. He could probably use the karma, anyway.
With a soft groan, he chased after the cat.
He wouldn't have known who to target if it weren't for Julienne's attack; he did as she told and repeated the phrase, "Touch of Apathy," while pointing his finger at the Captain. His eyes drifted to the gem in the girl's hand, and the younger girl on the ground.
He didn't seem to know quite what to do, so he scooped up the cat in one arm and carefully lifted the limp senshi over his shoulder with the other before backing up a few steps. "That's all?" he asked quickly, ready to bolt.

Cavansite wasn’t sure what happened when suddenly she was hit with a damn cat laser. Again. Good god she hated cats, and tonight, she was on fire and tonight that cat was going to pay and…
And suddenly she was hit with some other sort of magic and nothing mattered. She felt empty and confused...and with a sigh she looked down at the starseed in her hand and sighed, letting it drop before looking at the blonde senshi who was holding the cat and the other senshi and shrugged, teleporting away, just because she supposed it seemed like a good idea. There was no point in sticking around there, anyway. No real point to anything, really.Julienne leapt out of Alya’s grip and caught the starseed in her paws before it could hit the ground. She sighed in relief and looked exhausted as she had said she would be. “Alya, it’s okay, she’s gone...go ahead and put Elvira down, we need to put this back in her.”
With a sigh, the cat’s tail twitched. “This is a starseed, everyone has one, it’s...it’s essentially your soul, the physical form of your soul. This is Elvira’s, and she needs it back as quickly as possible.” Her eyes closed for a moment and she let lose a long yawn before looking back at the newly awakened senshi. “All you have to do is put it on her chest, it’ll go back in on its own...Thank you, Alya. Thank you for helping her.”

"No," Alya said suddenly; he reached down to pick up the cat and the little gem she was holding, and began to quickly trot away from the area. He seemed eager to put some distance between them and the strange woman that had just disappeared into thin air; while he jogged away, he explained, "If she can just disappear like that, I don't want her popping back there. If she's hurt, she needs to be somewhere safer."
He didn't need to run far; there was an empty building in the distance and even if it wasn't the perfect cover, it would buy them a few seconds. He kicked the door in with little difficulty, almost like he'd done that before, and moved to put the girl on the ground only then. He was still holding the starseed and though he seemed confused, as soon as he placed the starseed over her chest it slipped back in.
He blinked, surprised. "...Those are in everyone? Why isn't that in any science book? --Are you sure she doesn't need to go to the hospital?"
...If he was actually talking to cats, did he need to go to the hospital?

Julienne shook her head, seeming more exhausted now that they had changed locations, and they were really pretty much guaranteed to be safe from that psycho Negaverse agent. Well, they were as safe as they could be. This boy had a good head on his shoulders for self preservation.
“That’s smart, Alya. I appreciate that.” She watched as the starseed went safely back into Elvira and found that she could also breathe a little easier when that was taken care of. “No, she doesn’t need the hospital, she’ll wake up in just a moment I’m sure...it wasn’t out long enough to cause any lasting damage to her…” Or so she hoped. Thank goodness the nasty woman hadn’t eaten it like some of their lot did. The thought was so repulsive that the cat shuddered. “Also, Alya...it isn’t in a science book because it’s magic. Magic isn’t described in any science books that I’ve ever seen.” When the starseed made its way back into the senshi’s body, it didn’t take long for her eyes to open as well. Elvira looked pale...and she felt awful. That had been awful...but...but she felt like she might be alive...or...maybe?
Slowly the senshi sat up, trembling with fear and weakness and a whole slew of other things that she couldn’t quite process right now. “Wh-where is she? Is...is that guy okay?” She looked around to see just who it was that had saved her, and saw an unfamiliar senshi and Julienne, the fat guardian cat who had awakened her ages ago. “D-did she get him? Is he hurt too?”
Without waiting for an answer, the girl burst into tears, unable to stop herself.
This had all just been too much.

While Alya had his own questions, he seemed a bit surprised that the girl was crying. He forgot his questions and reservations and instead just moved closer to the other Senshi. "Here," he tried to reassure her, faltering before he just wrapped his arms around her and drew her close.
"If you mean me, I'm fine. Your talking cat did something, so I'm fine, and she's gone. You don't have anything to worry about. I'll make sure you're okay. You go ahead and cry if you need to, and then I can take you home, okay? Everything's okay, everyone's okay," he tried to promise.
He didn't like to see anyone cry--and he seemed a bit flustered and desperate to make things okay. He looked at Julienne for a second, as if she might have words of guidance, and then just rested his chin on top of Elvira's head as he rubbed her back.

Elvira sniffed, looking at the senshi in slight confusion, but not minding the hug in the slightest. “You...you were the guy? She didn’t hurt you?” Well, at least one good thing happened tonight...she hadn’t let another civilian die...she hadn’t been a complete failure...and she had protected a new senshi! That...that was something, right?
She reached up, scrubbing at her eyes, trying to stop the flow of tears that just...didn’t want to stop. “Thank you for helping me, I’m...I’m Sailor Elvira and...and I don’t normally have...have things like this happen...I’m sorry if I worried you…”
She liked being held like this. He kind of felt like Arias...and that was who she needed to see right now. “If you...if you could take me to my brothers store...Or just come with me there so I don’t have to go alone...I would really like that please…”Julienne nodded. “I think that’s a good idea. Alya, when you’ve dropped her off there, I can explain the rest of what you’ll need to know. For now though, I think it would be best to go back to your civilian forms for this, I don’t have the energy to keep dampening your auras, not right now anyway. For that, Alya, just picture who you are when you’re not powered up, your normal clothes, your normal life, and you’ll go back to yourself. It’s not difficult!”
She brushed up against Elvira, who obliged the suggestion, her powered glamour fading and revealing nothing but Carlee, a very tired, very upset fifteen year old, who just wanted to go home.
