Despite moving far away from home to go to school, all the new people, the new surrounds, the new languages, he still had one thing that would always be the same now. The asteroid of Arsinoe was always quiet and peaceful and for being such a strange place it felt like home in a way. It was somewhere safe he could always retreat to when he needed to and with everything going on he had a feeling he’d be there a lot.
The asteroid also made a perfect place to study. It was easy enough to get his books to come with him when he transported after a few false starts (he wasn’t ever getting those two books back).
No phone, no neighbors, no distractions.
On his first few visits he’d found a now favorite spot where he could sit down and relax while also having space to spread his notes out. He assumed it was the ruins of some sort of building, maybe a fossilized tree, whatever it was made a good makeshift table and chair.
That was where he found himself most days when he just wanted some peace and quiet. Today though it was because he didn’t want anyone in the library asking what he was doing. With the guise of an history major he was able to take out quite a few books all pertaining to ‘aliens’ coming to earth to help out ancient civilizations. He didn’t really expect he’d find anything but knowing what he knew now those stories started to seem a little less fairy tale than they had before. Technically some of them had to be true given that he knew most Senshi were reincarnations of people from other planets. All of which came from the planets and stars filling the milky way.
So what if someone from Castor had helped the romans build their aqueducts or their giant sculptures. What if someone out there had helped the egyptians or the mayans build their pyramids and gave them maps to the stars that they mirrored in their cities?
Not that he could really tell any of his classmates or his professors he thought this way. They’d all look at him like he was nuts and wonder how the hell he got the grades to get into Cambridge. So he kept his normal history studies to the school and brought all his extra studies out to his asteroid to pour over.
His task for the day was to finish taking notes from the couple of books on the Mayan’s he’d take out. The books had to go back the following day and he really wanted to make sure he had everything out of them he needed. There was a lot too. Almost every book on the culture mentioned something about aliens but not all of them took it seriously. Most just laughed it off but a couple, the two he’d borrowed, had authors who actually spent time looking into the subject. Not necessarily as aliens but as if some other culture had made contact that we didn’t know about. It was fascinating stuff when he got into it and the more he dug the more he was sure somewhere in all of the nonsense there’d be something that would tie the unexplainable things about various Earth cultures to the Senshi and the Negaverse.
He spent hours on the asteroid studying, taking notes, and only realized he needed to get back to earth when his phone chimed at him that it was dinner time. Cursing he gathered up his things, made sure it was all tucked away nicely in his bag, before sending himself back to his apartment. The quiet little studio suited him just fine and once he was back on solid ground he set his bag aside and flopped down on his bed. He could take the books back in the morning, tuck his notes away for safe keeping and he had a skype call with Cordy set for after school.
She at least had agreed to keep him up to date on everything that was going on while he was away.
