Hey but they don't have school dances! I don't think I wouldn't want to miss out on the dance experiences, especially buying pretty dresses! 3nodding

Nope, no dances. Social dancing isn't part of a Japanese upbringing.. of course young people go to clubs and stuff but I don't think anyone would be doing slow dancing. And I've never been to a hip-hop club so I don't know if they'd do nasty freak dancing either, LOL...

User ImageMe neither... It just never occurred to me to even think of something like that... sweatdrop

I'd frequent school festivals before school dances, too... That's not a way I go about getting socially involved... An easy social setting like a festival sounds funner to me...

personally I think I'd like those better than school dances. School dances don't appeal to me that much as the festivals do.

qwll in japan they dont dance much. they dont do much touching at all. it's how there culture is. that why they bow instead of shake hands with someone. But i think the sport and culture festivals are in the fall. u can tell in some anime. Watch azumanga daioh to find out. ^_^

I think it'd be neat to have festivals but at the festival(s) have a special place where kids can go and dance to music and hang out when not doing something else. smile

Well technically there are two type of festivals at schools. There is the graduation festival and the festival for going up in grades. Some schools combine the two but it really depends on the size. They genrally take place during the down time of the fall but it also depends on the school. I remember my school had several kick a** festivals that involved silly games, lots of relay races (Japanese love relays for some reason), and cheer leaders. Colleges also have school festivals but usually the goal of that is for clubs and circles to raise money. Also, "zemi groups" (groups of students who attend the same work or shushoku seminars) sell confections to raise money for a guest lecuturer.

Dancing (a la proms and semi-formals) are a no go. Japanese people save that sort of thing for the night club, which are just as easily acessible to high schoolers because no body ever checks ID in Japan twisted
