i can feel the city crumbling around me
can't seem to find my way
but I can see a bright light calling through dark night
hoping I'll find my way...

Civisect was a city of limitless potential, at least that's how Hawkin saw it. More specifically potential for fun. The young tealblood saw possibilities for destruction fun everywhere he turned! Lately he had been practicing his grinding, which he was in the middle of...on the railings of a somewhere around 200 step staircase.
The heavily scarred troll was gliding down the rails, knees bent, arms maintaining balance as he flew down the metal poles. Occasionally he'd jump from railing to railing, managing an flip over a couple older trolls as he did so, earning him some surprised sputtering or yelling.
Papbeats was doing his best to chase his charge down the treacherous stairway, but the tiny lusus wasn't having the easiest time catching up. His normally smooth beats scratching every few moments as the lusus tried to catch its breath...if Papbeats even did breathe. Hawkin was never too clear on that.

Mesnei was out on the town again. Phelie hadn’t said the reason why, but she was fairly certain it was because they wanted her to learn how to walk better. Mesnei didn’t really like walking, but if Phelie wanted it… She’d do it. As she made her way to the stairs she’d been practicing walking down, Mesnei was suddenly passed by a zooming multicolored creature. Mesnei’s eyes widened, looking at it and baring her teeth. What was that!? Some sort of horrorterror?

Apparently it was some scarred troll on a… Was that a board? Mesnei was intrigued. She looked at Phelie, who seemed doubly shocked. A board? Mesnei felt her insides light afire. Before Phelie could protest, the seadweller called him out. “You there! Colored blueblood! What are you doing? What is that contraption you have under your feet?” She needed to know! It seemed like a faster way to get around than her own two feet. And Mesnei was very much about saving time!

Hawkin had heard the voice as he neared the end of the railing, kick-flipping off the end as he made a sharp swerve on the flat concrete to curb his momentum. He wouldn't even have looked back if Papbeats hadn't finally caught up to him and tugged at the hem of his sweater, pointing back at the seadweller as static hissed out of the speakers that made up his face, the lusus' way of panting.
The tealblood turned around and looked at the girl. Talk about a fish out of water. Hawkin turned the walktroll down a bit, but still made sure there was music coming out of the headphones around his neck. " 'Sup dudette." He said, lazily skating back up to the feet of the stairs, "Didn't catch that. What's up?"

Mesnei crossed her arms, hands clenching and unclenching at the sight of the approaching troll. When he stopped intront of her, Mesnei simply lifted her head slightly when he arrived, showing her superiority. “My name is not dudette. What even is a dudette?” Mesnei asked, curious, but then rolled her eyes. “No matter. My name is Mesnei Shachi, and I would like to know what that—“ She pointed at the skateboard, “—Contraption is. And what you were doing with it.” Phelie seemed curious too, but didn’t want her charge to do it.

Hawkin was generally one to abide the hemospectrum, though only when TOLD to do so. He could tell this seadweller might do just that, but until then he'd simply continue his business as usual attitude.
The tealblood shrugged a bit, "Dudette's just a universal nickname. Usually means you're cool." He kicked the skateboard up into the air and caught it in his hands, "And this, is just a skateboard yo. It's hecka fun, especially grinding down some sick rails," he grinned a bit as the static finally calmed down from his tuckered out lusus. "I'm Hawkin Adrnal, and ya can check it out if ya want dudette, er, Mesnei." The tealblood shrugged again before extending the board towards the seadweller. She seemed a little stuffy, but hey it was always fun to teach any troll some tricks.

Mesnei felt her insides tug at the definition of the nickname. “W-what?” Mesnei was startled. “Cool? You— Think I’m cool?” Mesnei’s eyes were a bit wide, but she caught herself and looked away, rubbing her nose. She sort of knew what cool was, but that was only because she watched so much television. “I mean, I know I’m cool, I’m very cool. The coolest actually.” Phelie hummed softly, but Mesnei was feeling too giddy at the prospect of her being called cool more. “You may call me Dudette. It is an acceptable nickname.” She nodded affirmatively. She found this lowblood “cool” as well. “Skateboard…” Mesnei stared at it, muttering the word again and tapping her chin. “Mister Adrnal. I would like to—“ The hum was a little lighter now, more urgent. A tentacle trunk slid onto her shoulder. Mesnei tensed. “I mean. I do not want to. That is very interesting though. I hope you enjoy it.” Mesnei was reluctant to leave already.

A small chuckle escaped the tealblood at this Mesnei's word soup response. She seemed fun though, if not totally clueless, but that wasn't really a problem with enthusiasm like that.
Hawkin's grin quickly soured however, as the seadweller's tone suddenly took a nose dive. "What, you're bouncin' already dudette?" Hawkin asked, side eyeing her lusus' tentacle with his one good eye. "I mean you do you, but just seems a shame." He shrugged a bit. "I was gonna teach ya some sweet tricks yo." He wasn't a pushy troll, but he was bored, and he had an inkling that Mesnei was still engrossed with the new mode of purse awesome transportation that was the skateboard. No troll should ever be denied its sick ride.

Mesnei nodded affirmatively, hmphing as she crossed her arms defensively. She peeked at the skateboard again before closing her eyes immediately and swallowing her desire to skate. “Yes, I am ‘bouncing.’ Which is to say I’m not doing it.” The tentacle on her shoulder curled a little and slid off, the purpleblood relaxing considerably as she heard his idea of sweet tricks. She clenched and unclenched her hands. “Sweet tricks are just a waste of time!” She said, looking at Phelie for conformation— They nodded, and then moved to walk away. “I was just curious of what you had there, Mister Ardnal. Nothing more. Good night.” She lifed her chin a little, then followed after Phelie, who was a little further way.

Hawkin clicked his tongue and leaned a bit on his board as she yammered on about not wanting to skate. Even the tealblood could tell how much she wanted to check it out. "Well, alright then," he said, with a grin as he started to turn his tunes up to full blast. Hawkin felt the vibrations move through his body, and a gentle rumble started under their feet.
Papbeats looked up at his charge, and started jumping about, making weird distressed honking noises. Hawk knew his lusus was telling him to knock it off, to not get mixed up with a seadweller like this. But, where's the fun in that?
The tealblood harnessed the vibrations from his music, from Papbeats, from the city life surrounding them, and continued to send shockwaves through the ground.
"Oh no, it's an Alterniaquake..." he said unconvincingly as a crack in the concrete formed between Mesnei and her lusus. "Oh no," he continued, completely deadpan as the crack popped open into a wide crevice and the ground beneath his, Mesnei, and Papbeats feet started to sink and slope away from the crevice. The tealblood readied himself to grab hold of the seadweller and peace out on his board if she wasn't able to hold her footing. Hawkin was purely concerned with showing this girl how to waste time in a good way. He barely even paid attention to the other trolls caught off guard by his tectonic trickery.

Mesnei had already begun to walk away, sealing the deal on their separation when the light rumbling of the ground began. Mesnei’s eyes widened in shock. Her body tensed, and the purpleblood started panicking, looking up at Phelie, who’d turned and made their way closer. They were too slow. Phelie reached out to her, but not even their longest trunk could reach her. Mesnei was in full on panic mode, the deadpan of the other only making her more nervous. Was this a common thing?!?!

Her legs wobbled to the ground— Or would’ve, if she hadn’t been caught by the very same tealblood from before and placed right on the back of the board. Mesnei flailed, scared, but feeling her insides burst from— What was this? She was scared, but she was so… Thrilled. Soon, they zoomed off, leaving a frightened and freaked out Phelie behind.

Hawk had made sure to be extra careful of his balance with Mesnei adjusting herself on the back of the board. The tealblood had also grabbed ahold of Papbeats, the lusus clinging onto Hawkin's shoulder for dear life, honking and screeching in his sponge clot for causing such an uproar, and kidnapping a seadweller.
Hawkin just glided along on his board though, dodging the odd troll here and there as they came down the concrete slope. He'd have to remember this new awesome ramp he'd made for later. Heading into the downtown area, he finally slowed to a stop, leaving Phelie in the dust.
"Ya alright there dudette?" he asked, turning the volume down on his walktroll again so it remained nothing but a dull roar around his neck.

Mesnei was clutching onto the other for her dear life until the moment they finally stopped. Mesnei was silent as a rock, obviously going through some sort of mental crisis at being so far away from Phelie. What was she to do without her guide? She didn’t know, she didn’t want to know, she didn’t…

      “Ya alright there dudette?”

Mesnei snapped out of her stupor. She released her grip, legs feeling like jelly as she fell to the ground. She looked at the ground, then crawled onto the board, wanting nothing of her body touching the ground. “I-I have never. Never in my life.” Which was reasonably short, but, “Never experienced that. What was that? Is that normal? I should’ve stayed in the water, oh no, where’s Phelie, where are we?!” Mesnei felt tears bubble in her eyes, feeling scared, alone, and definitely not okay. Phelie wouldn’t like this, she’d get mad again, she’d hum and, and— Mesnei covered her face, tears bubbling from her eyes as she breathed unsteadily. She wished she was home...

"Hey, hey there," Hawkin said, crouching down to Mesnei's level. "You got nothing to worry about. They're not that common," he tried to reassure her, reaching a hand up to wipe a tear away.
Papbeats quietly hopped off of Hawk's shoulder and sat next to Mesnei on the board, placing a tiny hand nub on her leg.
"See, Papbeats and I got your back. You got nothing to worry about. You're hella safe with us."
Normally Hawkin wouldn't be so comforting to a newly met troll, however, this was literally all his fault, and having a seadweller mad at you, well that would just be plain dumb. He decided to not let her know he was the one who caused the quake, not now at least. "But hey, wasn't that at least a little fun? I mean dang that really gets your pump biscuit going." He chuckled a bit, and put a hand on her shoulder reassuringly.

Mesnei looked up at the tealblood with scared eyes. Normally she would at least try to act stronger, but she was so frightened. Wait, this was no moment to show weakness! When he wiped the tear from her eye, the purpleblood sniffled, looking at the others lusus and swallowing hard. She didn’t know much of above water related things, so maybe this landweller could inform her of… Some things. He wasn’t smarter, he just knew a little more than she did. It was okay. Relaxing some at his assurances, the troll inhaled and exhaled, clenching and unclenching her fist. “They are not common. Alright, good. Yes.”

She looked at the ground still, a little scared. Her legs were pulled to her chest in fetal position, but she stepped off the skateboard when he pat her shoulder. “It was acceptable. Hmph.” She crossed her arms stubbornly, feeling angry at the ground for attempting to hurt her and her new acquaintance. She stomped the ground firmly. “I admit, I… enjoyed it. But Phelie does not have to know that.” She nodded once, a firm jerk of her head. “Yes. I felt this weird tingly thing here.” She stated, pointing at her chest as her gaze fell back on the skateboard. “Mister Ardnal, since we are, inevitably, trapped together, we will need a form of transportation to return. I think it would be most efficient if we used the ah, Skateboard, to return.” She nodded, as if that had been all her own idea. “Yes, wow. That was an good idea, I am very great.” Mesnei managed a smile, nodding and looking up at Hawkin brightly. She was expecting praise.
