Snow day!

When the flurries first started falling, Alise had been excited, because enough snow meant that school would (hopefully) be cancelled, though compared to her classmates, who might have used the day to go sledding or have snowball fights, Alise...

... Was looking forward to checking out the updated list of 'top 10 spookiest places in Destiny City'.

(Hopefully this time the places on the list would actually be spooky and not just another fluke.)

When the snow continued to fall without any sign of increased cloudiness, though, it gave Alise pause. She may have just been a kid, but even she knew that it was far too clear out for there to be this much snow. Not that Etoile seemed to mind, of course; Alise knew that the little Mauvian enjoyed stargazing, after all. Still, it was suspicious, and Alise was all for the potentially supernatural, and so she had powered up and snuck out of the house, taking both a shawl (for warmth) and Etoile (for... security, and maybe to keep her from taking anymore bites out of anymore gingerbread houses).

As she made her way further outside, Chibi Lepus discovered that it wasn't just the unusually starry sky that was weird, it was the snow itself. Well, that was enough to pique her interest, and she knelt down to get a closer look... and maybe to take a few pictures with her phone as well. Lepus had to admit, the crystalline snowflakes looked rather pretty, and a part of her wanted to reach out and pick a few up to take back with her, but the young senshi pondered her options (pros: it could be cursed | cons: it could be cursed).

"Hmm, what do you think, Etoi?" she finally asked the little cat perched on her shoulder, "Harmless snowflakes, or... something more?"

Something more paranormal she hoped. Etoile made a thoughtful little noise before tilting her head curiously.

"I dunno, why don't you pick one up and find out?" the tiny Mauvian helpfully suggested.

Too wrapped up in their little investigations, cat and chibi didn't immediately sense that there was anyone else in the area, if they sensed Beta Leporis at all.

"Alright, then, I'm gonna do it," Lepus declared. though her mind had long since been made up even before her feline companion had said anything. It was nice to have an enabler, though, which Etoile kind of was, and the tiny senshi was reminded as to how lucky she was that she had managed to work out such a 'sweet' (though somewhat expensive) deal to get the cat to come live with her. Snapping a few pictures with her phone to save for later, Lepus picked up one of the strange snowflakes, turning it over a few times curiously, and holding it up for Etoile to examine as well.

Nothing seemed to be happening right away, though perhaps it could be a delayed effect, and the chibi was starting to feel a sense of disappointment building up; the story of how she received mysterious powers from a cursed snowflakes would have been a great one to tell at school (not that it would stop her from telling a similar story anyway).

Still...

"We should take some home with us!" Etoile chirped, "I bet they would make really pretty decorations."

"Uh."

Momentarily caught off guard, Lepus recovered quickly, before frowning slightly. She could admit she didn't know, but she didn't really want to admit that, but being put on the spot like this made it hard to come up with a story on the fly. Scrambling to stall for time, the chibi senshi glanced over at Etoile, who gave her a quizzical look and what could only be described as a kitty shrug.

So much for that idea.

"Well... you know, maybe it's aliens?" she finally suggested, helplessly shrugging, "Or they could be like, lost souls that have been turned into snowflakes and that's why they don't melt!"

There might have been a reason Lepus tended to scare off potential playmates.

"... Nah, this is our first time running into anything like this," Lepus confessed, frowning, "I was hoping Etoi might know something, but she doesn't, either."

But, then again, Etoile went wherever Lepus did, so she shouldn't have been too surprised. If Etoile had known, she would have told Lepus already.

"Sooo... I guess neither of us really know much, huh?"

"Maybe!" Lepus agreed, with a small shrug, "Though I dunno what it would be, then- I'm no good with science-y stuff like that."

Not to mention she didn't really like the science side of thing, with them always trying to explain anything supernatural with... science and whatnot.

"Who do we ask about this kind of thing, though? I doubt you can just do a Google search on it..."

'"Booo, that sucks," Lepus declared, disappointed, but even she conceded that neither of them would be getting any answers, at least for tonight.

"Well, someone's bound to figure it out eventually, right? Maybe they'll, like... send us a message or something; that's what these phones are for, right?" she suggested with a shrug, "Anyway, who're you? You never told me your name. I'm Chibi Lepus, senshi of rabbits, by the way."

("And I'm Etoile!" the little cat chimed in.)

"If I see any, I can!" Etoile cheerfully chirped; she couldn't recall the last time she had run into any of the other Mauvians, but she could always leave a note. Or use Lepus' phone to try sending text messages, right?

(Nevermind that typing out texts was difficult to do with her little paws!)

"It is very nice to meet you, Beta Leporis," the little cat purred, "Mochi... sounds like a very delicious idea right about now."

She'd never had it, had no idea where to get it, but Etoile's stomach was reminding her that it was very close to snack time, and Lepus very unfortunately had brought no snacks to share.
