 Nearly Beloved sits sedately with a large turtle shell, all holes carefully sealed spare for one, emitting tendrils of steam in the crisp winter air. Neatly placed in front is a dark rock with a shallowly concave center. It's hard to tell what he's offering until a kin approaches - then expertly, he pushes down on the top of the shell, and it rocks forward just enough to spill a fragrant brown liquid into the dip of the rock. "Take a sip," he suggests, though it sounds more like a statement, "perhaps you'll find the Coughing Bean brew to your tastes." Nearly Beloved's brows rise slightly. 1 token!2. The concoction seems smooth and almost pleasing! Nearly Beloved dryly states that he's pleased that you enjoyed the sample (though not sounding or looking it at all) and waves you away from his booth. 0 tokens.3. The brown liquid's taste has you dramatically sticking your tongue out with an audible "bleh." Nearly Beloved shrugs. 1 token!4. The drink has a strange effect on you - you suddenly feel wide awake, and your following antics almost turn up a corner of Nearly Beloved's mouth. 1 token!5. You like how it tastes so much that you rapidly start asking him too many questions about it. Nearly Beloved gives you 1 token in hopes that you'll go away. 6. The bitter brew has completely travelled down your throat the wrong way and it feels like you're going to hack a lung out. This pleases Nearly Beloved, to the point of an almost genuine smile. 3 tokens!7. You down it in one gulp and Nearly Beloved looks actively disappointed you're not worse for wear. 0 tokens.8. The drinking went fine, but for some strange reason your eyelid won't stop twitching. Nearly Beloved gives you 1 token to rapidly blink somewhere else. 9. You enjoy the first sip and go for more, then suddenly start to hiccup uncontrollably. Nearly Beloved watches you intently. 1 token!10. The unexpected taste leads to a polite cough and unfortunately goes up your nose. Nearly Beloved looks at you pityingly. 1 token! Pathfinder took a cautious sip of the liquid... whatever it was, it didn't really scream "please drink me". The sip was too cautious, and the strange flavor made her gasp. So of course she inhaled a bit and ended up coughing, spilling some of the drink on the ground. She cleared her throat, still not sure what to think of the brew. "Er, ahem... not bad...?"

Spark coughs a little and then tips her head to the side wondering why such a strange beverage exists. "Interesting," she says a little awkwardly, though to be fair it definitely smelled good. Hmmm.... She puckers her lips, and concludes that since it tastes so good, it's definitely worth it!

Traveler did so like good drinks - and he supposed this was no exception. Trotting up, tail flicking slowly behind him,h e peered at the liquid offered to him, then took a breath and a little sip.

"That's delicious!" the doe nearly shrieks as she looks expectantly at the shell in hopes he might let her have some more. "What is it? Can I have more? Where did you find it? How do you make it? Would you make some just for me?" the questions tumble out one after the other and it's not until the buck offers her a token that her attention span wavers. She takes the token and bounces away, intent on something or someone else.

Fish Bait isn't one to turn down a challenge, she doesn't even wait to see other kin drink this concoction. Striding up to the buck she looks him dead in the eye, "I'll have a chug of that."She waits for him to pour it out, no need to be rude, then gulps it down. It's rather bitter, but is by no means the worst swill she's swallowed. "A bold drink for a bold doe, thanks." she gives him a nod and wanders off to see the rest of the market.

Thaw approached the pale green buck and smiled when Nearly Beloved pushed down on the shell with expertise. Clever. He bent down and took a sip of the brown liquid.
It was vile, and hot! Thaw's tongue hung out of his mouth in an attempt to provide some relief. He'd have to avoid anything called coughing bean brew in the future...

After that horrible bit of food from the last booth, he wasn't too sure how he felt about another tasting booth, still it was offering a drink which was a weakness of his. So he took the offered drink, only to go wide eyed as he felt a surge of energy course through him, head tossed back and he laughed. "Wow, this packs a punch!" he laughed as he pranced in spot a moment before taking the token with a muffled thanks and wandering off at a quick trot. After having a stick in her mouth, Frozen was looking for a drink. Walking up to Nearly Beloved's booth, she wasn't sure if she really wanted to take a drink. The reactions from others were not what she would expect, but she needed to get rid of the taste of the stick. Taking a drink, her eyes go super wide and she starts bouncing around like a foal who finally found their hooves under them. Her words come out fast and everything takes on a new meaning. ((4. "Coughing Bean..." G.B. Looks over the rest of the individuals -- many were indeed coughing, but others seemed to have enjoyed it and even given a rush of energy, "Well never know till you try I guess..."
She took a tentative sip of it, bracing herself for the worst. Instead, the flavor was rich and smooth. The Sunrise colored mare blinked in surprise, wondering why so many seemed to be choking on the stuff, "this... Is actually really good." She goes in and begins to drink but stops suddenly "-HIC!"
She snorted out the drink with the hiccup, her entire body jerking with the diaphragm spasm, making rather loud hiccup noises, "oh -HIC- excuse -HIC- Me! -HIC-" she jumped slightly with every hiccup, her front hooves leaving the ground with each hiccup, "I'm just -HIC- Going to go -HIC- Over he-HIC-here..." She accepts the Token with another hiccup and walks off.
9. You enjoy the first sip and go for more, then suddenly start to hiccup uncontrollably. Nearly Beloved watches you intently. 1 token!

Glancing over the curious turtle shell, smiling at Nearly Beloved she nods brave! Determined to not look silly, Reaching for the Moon drinks the whole thing in one graceful gulp and smiles at her bright! Nearly Beloved doesnt look pleased that she drank it so easily, so Reaching for the Moon sidles away wondering if she was supposed to cough....

In The End sat up straight after taking a sip of the brew and stared, wide eyed, out into the distance. Then, his hooves began to shake, his mouth opened slightly with a chatter, and he let out a long, high-pitched giggle.
"Wow! This stuff is great, I love this stuff!" He cheered, his head twitching this way and that. "I need to tell my father! I need to tell my siblings! I need to tell the world!"
He hopped to his feet and darted forward, aimlessly, and landed snout first in the dirt some feet away. However, instead of getting up like any self-appreciating buck would do, he flopped onto his back and proceeded to roll about like a wild dog. Quote: 4. "Hello!" said Optimist. "It smells delicious!" It, whatever the liquid was, did not smell delicious - but sometimes it was better to lie, to protect their feelings, right? And anyway, smell wasn't always indicative of taste. So she stepped up gamely and - Ugh. How was it that it tasted worse? She choked a bit as the scalding drink flooded her throat but was able to offer the buck a bracing smile. "Thanks for the sample!"

Kiss of Death sniffed at the concoction and without any regret, she swallows the entire portion the buck had prepared for her. She looked back at him after finishing off the drink and licked her lips. "Thank you, it was tasty." she replied, noticing the hint of disappointment shown all over his face. Oh well. Quote: 7.
