[prompt] {Strange snow flurries have been blowing through town, frosting entire buildings. Sometimes they come out of nowhere--overnight, or in the timespan of just a few short hours. Snow falls rapidly and ice coats doors and window, sealing them shut. These snow flurries are knocking out power, and worse--trapping people in buildings and cars. If one of these flurries hits, where do you wind up?)

Dria was on the Library computer, doing some research on ancient Egypt; it seemed to remind her of a feeling she could only call, 'home'. She was also doing a high school project on the topic. Her specific topic was the reed boats that traveled the Nile.

She yawned and stretched, listening to the soft holiday music playing overhead. It was early December, and the holidays were coming. she had yet to get something for Drew, but Christmas was still weeks away. She looked out the window, it was fogged up even more than usual. "Odd," She commented.

is this good? I must apologize, this has been up for a bit, but I made typos in your username.

Myles was on the computer next to Dria, chin propped up in one hands. He looked like he was falling asleep as he browsed the computer. He'd been here for a little over an hour, trying to find a way to be more productive than he was back at his house.

He'd broken the computer. Again.

His brother, Jeremy, knew how to fix it, or knew someone who could fix it, but for now it was just stuck on a perpetual loading screen and Myles had gotten impatient waiting so he 'd gone to the nearest library, using the excuse that he had to run errands anyway.

The only problem was, the smell and lighting in the library almost immediately put him to sleep so instead of being productive, he'd spent the better part of the last forty five minutes trying not to nod off.

When Dria said something, he snapped awake and sat up straight. "Odd? What's odd?" he asked in a low whisper, eager for any excuse to try and force himself awake.

The slightly older man next to her had snapped awake and asked her about her comment - "Odd".

She glanced at him as he whispered the question, and then back the windows. "The windows are more fogged up than usual -" she paused, and looked again. She got up and walked up towards the windows in question. Reaching out her hand to touch it, she almost immediately jerked it back. It was colder than ice - literally freezing to the touch.

"Oh my." She turned to the man, saying, "The windows are completely frozen." Her face was ashen.

Myles rubbed at his eyes and strained to see the windows. "Huh," he said after a second. "...They...are, aren't they?"

At first, he wasn't concerned. But then, suddenly, he felt like he was getting cold. He shivered and rubbed his arms quickly. "...That's not good."

Leaning back in his seat, he glanced to the front door. The glass panes looked like they too were covered in a layer of ice.

Myles forced a laugh. "Well--it's a good thing we're inside, this would have been awful to be outdoors in. I just hope we aren't stuck here for too long. Though," he reached for his bag and began to dig through it. "I did bring plenty of snacks. You want a granola bar? ---I've got Fruit Roll ups, too," he mused, pulling out a few treats already.

He seemed like he was a little overly prepared for a 'short trip' to the library.

Dria stared at all the snacks for a minute. "You seem a little prepared for this." She snapped back to attention to the main problem - noticing the fact, that it seemed like everyone in the library was missing and that it seemed to be getting colder by the moment. Also the fact that this Myles guy looked like an officer she knew awhile back. She pulled her jacket on and only got a little warm. "You somewhat remind of a police officer I met a while back," she murmured.

She looked around, "Where is everyone?"

sorry it took so long.

Myles paused and then laughed sheepishly. "Yeah, well--better to have too many snacks than too little, right? Besides, you never know who you'll meet."

He paused though, looking up from his bag.

"An officer?" he asked.

He and his brother didn't look so much alike, he'd always thought. Mostly because Myles was always smiling and Jeremy was just Jeremy.

"Was his name Officer Fischer?" he prompted, on the off-chance that she had been introduced to the man.

He was skimming the area when he asked; he hadn't really been paying attention to who wa in the library; he'd just assumed that it was a slow day.

Dria raised her eyebrows and nodded, he had a point about the snacks.

He asked about Officer Fischer. She was only slightly surprised he knew who she was talking. "Yeah, that is the one. Let's just say I have a unique history, it became overwhelming, and I ran. Officer Fischer was the one that found me, and helped me through the crisis. You know him?"

She looked this way and that. "I could have sworn that there were at least 3 other patrons in here, and now I don't even see the library staff." She shivered and pulled her jacket tighter, it was getting even colder.

Myles was glancing around the library; he couldn't recall anyone there, but he hadn't been paying attention. It was easy for him to assume that maybe they were peering out another window, or had gone to the bathroom or to try and see what was going on outside. He shrugged and instead answered the question he could answer.

"Officer Fischer's my brother," he said, seeming a bit proud of the fact. "He's pretty good at the whole crisis thing. If I called him now, he'd probably get the whole fire department over here." He laughed--it was a joke, but there was a part of him that figured it was true. A smile lingered on his face, but the cold was a bit unnerving.

"But...whatever's going on with this weather--it can't go on for long, right? I mean...if it did, they'd have said something about it on the weather channel, yeah?"

His brother? Ah that explained the slight resemblance.

Dria looked out the window again. With a surprised look, she looked at Miles again. "Does that answer your question?"

Two fire trucks; their sirens wailing and lights flashing, had pulled up.

Myles glanced out the window and couldn't help but laugh. "Oh, I don't know. But that's a good sign, right? It means that we probably won't be in here for too much longer! I mean, not that you aren't great company! But I suppose it's best to make friends when you're not being forcibly trapped in the same area, right?"

He laughed softly, for good measure; he didn't seem like he was too traumatized or upset with how things were playing out. He was a bit unnerved, uncertain as to just how all of this had happened, but...

In a place like Destiny City, sometimes you never got your answers.

Dria looked again. "Oh I don't know about that. It seems like they are having trouble getting through the frost." She sat down again, "We may as well talk." Her stomach growled. She grinned. "And eat snacks.",
After a moment, she said, "So I don't remember if I said this before, but my name is Dria. Xandria Nicole Bones. Let's see, I'm 15, and oh I have no memory of most of my life." That was a great conversation starter and it was true. That should get him started.

Myles smiled and opened up his bag again, offering her whatever caught her fancy. "That's a nice name, Dria. I'm just Myles, Myles Fischer. I'm nine--uhh. Wait. Oh. No, I'm twenty. Sorry, I keep forgetting. It's still recent. Uhm--I'm sorry to hear about your no memory thing. Is that..."

He shifted positions, curious but also worried about overstepping boundaries. "Is that like, an amnesia thing, or...? It's okay if you don't want to answer! I know we just met, I don't mean to pry. I just...thought amnesia was a movie thing. I guess it sounds stupid, I just...didn't realize people could forget so much? I've had nights where I blacked out, or hit my head and forgot a few hours, but...no memory of most of your life? That sounds scary."

Dria picked out some "Soft Batch Cookies" and grinned. "Happy Birthday."
She was not bothered at anymore by questions. "I wouldn't have said something if I minded. Yes it is amnesia, and yes it does happen in real life." She sighed. "I have a traumatic brain injury. When I was eleven, my family and I were in a plane crash. Most people were fine, it was minor. However, I was ejected somehow from the plane. My body was basically human ballistics for the ocean, while it was storming. Somehow I washed up on a beach near Destiny City, which was not only about 25 miles away from the starting position, but across state lines - so the rescuers didn't bother checking that far. I was barely alive, and an early morning jogger found me. In time, most of my injuries healed, but I may never remember anything before I woke in the hospital." She took some bites from the cookie. "The doctor says that there is still a tiny piece of coral embedded in my brain stem, and that is what is blocking my memory's return."

Myles found himself nodding; his brows were knit, compelled and entranced by her story. She had earned his sympathy almost immediately. "That's awful, Dria. I'm so sorry to hear that. Can they take the coral out?"

He wasn't a doctor by any means--and he couldn't even watch hospital dramas; he simply didn't have the stomach for even the fictitious accounts. What he knew of hospitals and doctors were only the things he'd picked up from listening to his brother, or the time he'd spent in them, himself.

"--And if they could, if they got it out, would you be able to remember everything again?"

Dria sighed again."The doctor doesn't have the skill to take it out without killing me, and neither does any other doctor he knows. As for the memories - we may never know."

She shrugged. "On the other hand, my family moved to Destiny City last year. I have a twin brother, who looks almost exactly like me. One of his friends showed up at my foster mother's Floral shop about four or five months ago, was ordering flowers for a sick friend, when he saw me. Next thing I know there's blood work and detectives back in my life - then I'm with my family."
