I hate snow I hate snow I hate snow I hate snow I hate snow...
Halldora trudged through the knee-deep snow, scowling the whole way. This is what she got for deciding she needed to run today; her body, while usually taut and lean with knots of muscle, felt weak and flabby after few days off. Picking up her legs and using her back muscles to trot through the snow was an excellent workout that got her blood pumping and her mind working properly again.
But man, she hated the snow.
After a half mile she slowed to a walk, gulping in deep breaths of icy cold air between muttering curse words. She already felt a little better, her muscles singing and steam billowing from her coat. She paused for a moment to lick up a mouthful of snow, savoring the moisture against her dry tongue, before continuing on at a brisk walk. She stretched as she went, moving her haunches back and forth and stepping under herself on either side to release the knotted, cramping thing just above her tail. When it finally popped, she let out a cry of relief.
"Finally!" she exclaimed to no one in particular, stopping in her tracks and stretching each hind leg out behind her with a groan. "Thought it would never go."

Jelenice made his way across the snowstorm. How he was still continuing, he did not know. He didn't even know where he was going in the first place. By this rate, the stallion didn't even feel the cold, nor the stinging. He was numb and just knew that he would stop somewhere once it seemed appropriate.
Jelenice's ears twitched once he heard a cry not too far ahead. What was that? Who was that? Whoever it was sounded hurt, and the stallion then developed into a gallop, wanting to reach the poor unfortunate soul before they died from whatever they were suffering from.

Halldora's ears perked up as she heard a sound in the distance. Even muffled by the snow and the storm, the sound was unmistakable; hoofbeats, and fast ones at that. She only had a few seconds to determine her course of action; fight or flight, both options coming with incredible drawbacks with the current amount of snow piled up around her.
The cogs whirred in her brain much more quickly than she let on. Was the creature coming toward her aggressive? Frightened? Excited? Just going for a nice sprint in the lovely weather? Whatever it was, it was getting closer and closer, and she was running out of time. If she ran, there was no guarantee the creature would not chase her, or possibly outrun and catch her; she was strong, but her stamina needed some work, and the snow seemed to be hindering her slightly more than it was the hoofbeats that were now echoing in her ears. But if she stayed put, the thing could kill her right then and there, even with the energy she'd save not running.
Fight or flight. Time is running out.
Feeling suddenly a little smug about already warming herself up for an adventure, Halldora froze where she was, positioning herself in her most intimidating, strongest pose. Her muscles stretched and settled, and she felt strong; whatever was coming toward her, she wouldn't let it touch her without a fight, that was for sure.
But as the other Soquili appeared, she noted he looked a little concerned. What about, in particular, she could not tell, but decided to head him off before he could say anything, just in case.
"What's the rush, pal?" she called out as warmly as she could. She twisted her head to the side and cracked her neck. "Got somewhere important to be?" xKOVAKtheWOLFx Sorry for the late reply!

Jelenice continued his gallop until he came across the mare that he assumed made the noise. Hmm, she looked okay? The stallion huffed, kind of irritated that he tried to be a knight when she was already rescued from whatever it was. By the way she was positioned, she didn't want him coming near her -- it wasn't really intimidating, more like funny seeing a mare trying to be tough, but he kept that observation to himself.
"No, no," he started. "I just thought that with your scream, that you were in trouble, which apparently you're not anymore." Jelenice shrugged.
The stallion looked around and noticed that he was even more lost due to going off trail to find the stranger. Well, he was lost. Wherever they were, snow would melt eventually, but he didn't know the mare's condition in this weather.
"I don't know about you, but I'm going to continue travelling east. . . whichever direction that is now. Do you want to come along?"Moire Frost it's okay! I'll reply to our other thread by the end of today!

Halldora huffed almost imperceptibly, internally scolding herself for acting so rash and silly about her situation. To be fair, she would have rather been prepared for nothing, instead of unprepared for a fight, but still; way to make a good first impression on the first other Soquili she'd seen in... how long had it been? Too long, for sure.
"Oh, you heard me?" she asked, relaxing her body and looking a little less tough, adopting an air of friendly indifference to not seem desperate. She had the feeling this stallion was not intimidated by her anyway, which may or may not have been a wise decision on his part. "Just crackin' and poppin' myself back into the right shape, that's all." She extended a front leg and twisted it slightly as an example, grinning as her shoulder popped, feeling instant relief run all the way down to her hoof.
"I just get so tight and stiff sometimes, you know?" she continued. "Especially in this snow. So hard to move around and get the blood pumping."
She thought for a moment about his offer; what was east? She had no clue. But there was nothing tying her to her current location either, no family or friends or even a to-do list to keep her mind occupied on the long, cold winter nights. She was admittedly a bit lonely, though she would never share that with this stallion.
"I think it's this way," she said, pointing slightly north of where the sun was due to set, calculating in her head the time of year and where the sun and moon would be traveling across the sky. Jelenice gave a short nod in response to the inquiry of hearing her call. He didn't want to embarrass her any more than she probably was. The leg twisting was probably just a cover up though. He kept the comment to himself, not wanting to frustrate the mare.
"That's me at times too, to be honest," he said with a gruff. "Umm. We can run a few laps to quicken your blood flow or just keep moving our bodies." It wasn't like Jelenice to be offering advice, but it wasn't like he had anything better to do. The only thing he wanted to do for now was head east and claim a land of his own. Whatever was in that direction, he did not know and did not care, but he came from the west, so he wanted to see something different hopefully.
He smiled when Halldora introduced herself and noted her suggestion of where east was. "We'll go that way, where you are pointing and see where that leads us, Lady Halldora." Something else he took from back home. Formalities. "I'm Jelenice, but any name would suffice."
The stallion pawed the ground with his hoof and nodded, leading the two onto how ever long the journey that Halldora wanted to accompany him with would be. "Right. Are you not leaving anyone behind? No obligations? Family?" He then playfully bumped her shoulder. "Surely you had some intentions of being in this area."
