THE COVENANT OF ALSINGARDE
Location: Alsingarde, Amaranthine Established: Year 698 Leader: Max Clayton
▰ ▰ ▰ DESCRIPTION
▰ ▰ ▰ HISTORY The Covenant of Alsingarde began as a faction of mages sponsored by the Kingdom of Amaranthine, in order to deal with the rising threat of Wurms and Kamilla's monsters within Val'Ghast. Beginning as a militant faction of powerful mages, the Covenant became known internationally for its excellence in leadership and its honing of mage's capabilities, especially from an early age. Within two decades, the Covenant became one of the most well known factions globally, and the largest independent military faction in Amaranthine. For over a century, the Covenant - alongside Amaranthine's military - kept the Wurms entirely at bay, and even slew the first several Wurm Queens that spawned in Amaranthine's desert. Notably, the Covenant additionally engaged in several sweeps of Val'Ghast, sabotaging Kamilla's operations there on a massive scale.
Skip forward nearly a hundred years, and the greatest Wurm Queen had been born from the ashes of the old. One of the warlocks of the Covenant, Melissa Clayton, had grown obsessed with Wurm physiology and their telepathic method of communication. She was astounded by their regenerative capabilities, their accelerated birth, and their ability to meld the earth around them. In her mind, the Wurms were a species vastly superior to all others of monsterkind, and she wished to emulate them into her magical capabilities.
It is at this point when the Enchantress forged an artifact that would give the Wurms sapience, human-like intelligence. She offered this artifact, first, to the Queen of Wurms, befriending the creature; leashing it. For a short time, the Warlock had seemingly gained control over the Wurms by proxy, however ravaged their population had been.
Unfortunately, what really happened was instead the observation of humans and the weaknesses of Amaranthine by the Wurm Queen that Lady Clayton so dearly coveted. Devouring the middle-aged woman and destroying a large portion of Alsingarde, the Wurm Queen fled, and over the next two decades she would form a force large enough to destroy the entire Kingdom of Amaranthine, and its capital city of Luray.
Most people, however, do not know the Covenant's involvement with the destruction of the Kingdom they so fiercely protected for so long. The son of Melissa Clayton, Archmage Maxwell, assumed control over the faction after the passing of his parents and secured the secrecy of his mother's destructive mistake. The faction, free of Amaranthine, vowed to keep itself distinctive from all nations. Alsingarde became a city-state, within a free Magocracy, a magisterium ruled by the Covenant alone. Their focus changed; rather than military, they sought to understand the world around them. Magic became a scrying tool.
Now, the Covenant creates new relics and sends expeditions to examine the old. Their goal is that of hubris, like Makassar's: gaining the capability to do anything through magic, through relics of old and powers formed anew. Even so, they are not regarded as a threat, for their purpose is the benefit of mankind, and thousands of mages from all over Axiom consider Alsingarde to be their true home.

THE WALKERS OF THE SANGUINE ISLES
Location: The Sanguine Isles, Island North of Aramil Established: Year 358 Leader: Johanna Miras
▰ ▰ ▰ DESCRIPTION
▰ ▰ ▰ HISTORY It began, not so surprisingly, with bloodshed for the Walkers of the Sanguine Isles. Azrael, a Necromancer with a particular obssession with the fallen king of Luray, Azazel, beckoned forth the soul of the betrayed, allowing his soul to replace his own in the great hunt. The night was never darker than the one when Asteroth was born. The deaths of his ten children, his own thralls, came meticulously. By the last man to fall, all vampires were frightful of what awaited them. Luckily, Asteroth was not so harsh on the rest. Instead, his cunning mind and superiority in all things combat led him to a far more promising idea, one that persisted for centuries in the shadows. Asteroth his own kingdom, a Nocturne away from Nocturne.
The Walkers were born of the nightmares that accompany stories of vampires, impaling their enemies on spikes and watching the slow, painstaking process of their bodies being freed of their blood. Tales of winged monsters abducting humans and dragging them by their legs to be turned into empty husks. Whispers of doors not locked, windows left open and bloody mutilated corpses found in the morning. This blood was spilled in sacrifice to Asteroth, fueling his eventual ascension and cementing the Walkers into history as a frightening sort of urban legend... one that was not mere myth.
For centuries, Asteroth himself led the Sanguine Isles, commanding his fallen traitors own thralls as his generals. One such follower, Johanna Miras, was a relative of Asteroths, and a very powerful Vampress in her own right. When the time came for his Ascension, he met with her, seeking to give council to his successor. Her ideas were... radical. She lobbied with him for the latter decades of his last "mortal" century to allow more races in, for Fairhairs to be enthralled and dominated mentally by the high vampires and formed into gatekeepers and watch dogs. She petitioned, between her own sickeningly brutal night-crusades on the outer cities of Lumiria and Essafraxon, for the enslavement of the Shades, and eventual domestication of their entire race as bodyguards. For every unholy race, Johanna had a plan to reign them in beneath Asteroth's great empire. Of this, Asteroth had no objection; on the contrary he quite enjoyed the thought. But there was so much more at her fingertips. To her, and her alone, he revealed a great plan to weaken and eventually be rid of their greatest adversary. While powerful, they were limited in that the Sun, for the mass majority of vampires and even some other races, weakened them. He was not yet strong enough, not by far, to take on a goddess like Solonor, but with the power that Johanna planned to amass, with the way she commanded troops almost as if it were genetically destined for her to be so like he and his father were, he knew his plan would, eventually, come to bear fruit. Asteroth left the Isles in her care, residing on the mortal plane while gathering his own power through the hundreds of years.
Now, Johanna has come ever so close to her goals. Fairhair alphas fell into her personal enthrallment, and as they deliver the bite, as they breed, more werewolves are brought into the fold, worshipping the night, protecting their vampiric imprints as loyally as their own Alphas. Shades, empowered through links to the vampires who connect to them, become symbiotic. They feed off of the shadow magic vampires naturally command, and the vampires use them as personal body guards to great success. The Inccubi and Succubi are, more or less, partners, seeking to join with the Isles should their patron deity forsake them, or should they forsake him/her, for protection from those who would prosecute them for their ways. Johanna herself, old and powerful beyond mortal understanding nearly, is nearing a point where Asteroth's far reaching plan, the longest standing plot in all of Axiom, will be unstoppable.

THE KEEPERS OF THE GROVE
Location: Kranila Established: Year 543 Leader: Nostheron
▰ ▰ ▰ DESCRIPTION
▰ ▰ ▰ HISTORY By comparison to their peers, the Keepers of the Grove came into existence relatively peacefully, and have maintained that standing for much of their time on the plane. Their story began with Tizatia, a wandering Dawn Elf who, like many of her kind, had long suffered at the hands of humanity and sought refuge. Among elves, she was one of the greatest in both mind and might. Her travels across Kranila and beyond would bring a number of disenfranchised into her arms, and to them she would deliver a respite made of her own hand. It is there, deep in the forests of Kranila, that the Keepers were founded. It was to be a peaceful organization, one that saw only life on the planet, the mission of the Archdruid and their Conclave to make life worth living for all who lived on the third plane. To put an end to senseless wars and to unite all manner of creature under the ideals of progress. For a long time, their reach was small; it would take a great number of Keepers to spread their ideals across all of Axiom.
It was around this time that human and elvish conflict came to a head. Never had the elves been so relegated, so in danger of perishing. Tizatia reached to them, and in her arms did they find the peace they sought. Before long, elvish populations were restoring steadily under the protection of the Conclave, and moreso than ever their ranks were filling with those eager to see the world adopt their message of peace, of light. With the elves came their religion, Justoastrianism, and in that belief the Keepers found their symbol of light; Solonor.
The centuries that followed were prosperous beyond their wildest expectations. Their influence grew easily to nearly all of Kranila, while gaining support in much of the Fraxonian empire before its recent split. Only one oddity remained, however...
Tizatia seemingly vanished. In her place is Archdruid Nostheron, as though she never existed at all.

IMAGE THE SINGERS OF THE SECOND PLANE
Location: Outskirts of Nocturne Established: Year 623 Leader: Aelius Kaelian
▰ ▰ ▰ DESCRIPTION Those who seek knowledge are almost always rewarded. Willingly or unwillingly. This is the motto of the most duplicitous of all factions, the Singers of the Second Plane. Though their history is brief by comparison to the others, their power and influence is such to be greatly feared. The Singers saw their beginning with one strikingly beautiful vixen with a near insatiable thirst for all the secrets she wasn't allowed to have. Sevilla, now recognized as one of Axiom's most prominent figures, was the first Desperado. She always had a large portfolio, and in it was enough information to tear kingdoms asunder. In this field of secret brokering, one can only keep their name obscured for so long; as it were, her following was growing rapidly. One day she decided to capitalize on it, and so the Singers were born.
In order for any organization such as this to be successful, you must of course have brains and brawn. Enter Scythias. With his criminal background and her taste for the forbidden, the pair were extremely successful while they led the faction. Mind altering magics, assassinations, strong-arming...whatever it took. No price was too steep for a secret to dethrone a king or destroy civilizations. Before long, their fame began to interfere with their work, to the point where a change in staffing was needed. From her host of worthy candidates, Sevilla chose none other than the current Desperado, Aelius. He had shown deadly proficiency in not only the mind-molding magics passed down from some of the organizations enforcers, but also the diplomacy and retention favored by Sevilla. It is said that Aelius is one of the few mortals to have received any sort of boon from her.
And now, with the knowledge of the world on their backs, few enigmas remain. Their only major rival in this is the Covenant. Their civilization, tucked away in Amaranthine and chock full of secrets, is the gold mine waiting to be opened. But those men and women of magic are not so easy to deceive. As such, their rivalry has extended for almost as long as the Singers have existed, to the point where their efforts now not only go to their own goals, but to actively inhibiting each other.
