She still couldn’t believe her aunt and uncle had tossed Seung out, as if he meant nothing to them. She knew they were upset but she wondered if it was more about the family and what Seung had done as opposed to their missing him. While the one sided fight had gone on Eunkyung had locked herself in her room and was quick in pulling up the e-mail service she used. Creating a new e-mail she then made a new social media account, using a different name, she was quick in using it to contact her younger cousin, Seung’s sister, and telling her who she was - she didn’t want to scare her.

The conversation had gone well, aside from the fact that her little cousin was outraged about what had happened to her elder brother. The younger had assured her that she would make another social media, and e-mail, account in order to contact her cousins in Korea and start talking to them and probing about to see who might be on Seung’s side before telling them about Seung’s delima.

With her little cousin set to that task Eunkyung had waited to make her next move, she had been called to help make dinner.

It wasn’t until the next day that she now sat at home, her aunt and uncle not yet home from work, that she sent a message off to Hyeon. Her elder cousin was close to Seung, the two often spent time together. She knew he supposed gay people and would want to know what had happened last night, especially since he was to be moving into the apartment.

Getting up as she hit send on her phone she made her way to the kitchen, deciding to start on dinner if only because she was hungry. Her appetite last night and into today had been...lacking.

Hyeon-oppa, it’s Eunkyung. We need to talk...please don’t tell uncle and aunt, it will hurt Seung-oppa if they find out.

The wait wouldn’t be so bad, as she was already bustling about the kitchen, the work would keep her distracted during the waits. Her phone sat on the countertop, near the stove, waiting for a reply, she hoped he responded.

It wasn’t very long at all for Hyeon to see her message and write a reply. He had been taking care of a few ‘last minute’ details for his move to America like his Father had suggested but hadn’t been so distracted by it that he wasn’t paying attention to his phone. Not to mention he kept checking it for possible responses from Minsoo and the others, checking the social media accounts for the different fan reactions to his leaving. While he knew very well he shouldn’t be paying attention to the last bit but he couldn’t help it. But when he read the text message from his younger cousin he frowned then instantly started to text her back.

What is it Eunkyung-ah? Is there something wrong with Seung-yah?

He sat on a chair as he waited for her response, worrying his bottom lip as he thought over just what might be the trouble. Did Seung get hurt? Did he fall in with a bad crowd? Did someone pressure him into something?

Quote:
Seung-oppa got caught, sort of, dating another male. Uncle kicked him out, he’s not allowed to talk to family or visit family. If he does uncle says they’ll tell everyone...so everyone will know his shame.

Having been hovering over the stove, working on searing some meat, she had heard her phone go off and instantly was setting her tongs down in order to respond to her elder cousin. Hitting the send button she set her phone down for a moment, in order to turn the meat, before typing out a second part of the message.

He’s been dating him for months, they’re cute actually and he’s happy, but someone outed them to uncle and aunt. He moved in with his boyfriend and his family.

Hitting send once more she set her phone down and went to setting the meat aside, she’d cut it in a few minutes, but while it rested she went to cutting up some veggies on the cutting board she had out.

Quote:
Hyeon blinked in surprise for a moment when he read the first part of the text before a mix of worry for his cousin and being proud that he was willing to follow his heart. The worry over powered the pride though as he continued to read about how Seung was kicked out of the house by his parents and banned from interacting with the family at all. His eyes narrowed in anger at his Aunt and Uncle for how they treated Seung but he wasn’t sure he would be able to do anything about that himself.

I’m glad he found someone he was willing to date even with this possibility over his head. How is he? Was his boyfriend’s family understanding of the situation?

He wouldn’t ask if his Aunt and Uncle were feeling any regret over their actions as he doubted that they would admit it even if they felt it.

Setting her knife aside, after pushing from of the chopped ingredients into a pot, she turned to her phone and checking over the message she leaned herself against the countertop and started on a reply.

They understand, thankfully. Boyfriend took him to his home and explained to his parents - they offered him a home.

Hitting send she found herself fingering her hair and tucking it behind her ears, taking the time to inspect the ends of her hair. Soon she’d need a trim and to get a digital perm again, or maybe she’d do like Seung and go with a Korean straightening on her hair. Either way she was due soon for one or the other. She had little flyaway hairs, the little frizzy new hairs, that needed to be styled somehow.

I’ve told Hwayoung what happened, she is feeling out other cousins of her’s and Seung-oppa’s to see who else won’t mind about him...who would want to keep in touch. She will have them make new social media accounts so they can talk in secret.

Back to what she was working on she went to making the broth for the dinner she was working on. She was planning a nice stew and a noodle dish...something warm and also something filling.

As Hyeon waited for Eunkyung’s text back he moved to double check, or rather triple check as the case maybe, the boxes that were going to be shipped to America for him. They weren’t taped up just yet so he could go through, take out, or add in anything as needed for now. He didn’t have much time to check though before her text reached him.

I’m glad they were so understanding then. Have you been to their house to check it out?

While he didn’t think it was likely to be overly cramped or anything but he was curious to know if Seung’s boyfriend’s house was comfortable enough for everyone there, depending on how big the boyfriend’s family was he supposed.

Good to hear. Want me to pass anything along to her or anyone else before I leave? I plan on meeting up with her and some of the others in our family a few days before I get on my plane.

Dumping the last ingredients into the broth, some soup soy, she went to read over the text. Leaning against the counter top, humming to herself, she typed back a response and hit send

No, I haven’t. I might do that soon. I don’t want to invite myself over, it might be rude. Only Terry knows me and not too well.

As they’d only met a handful of times, though they had spent time together during the trip back to Korea. So maybe that was enough? But self inviting was...rude. She doubted Seung would invite her over as well, at least not yet.

Just feel out the younger cousins, around your age, Seung’s age - younger. Help see who might not shun him...take them aside with Hwayoung and talk to them?

She could only hope for the best as she hit send again. She really did hope he could be open with some of their family, that some would accept him. She knew it wasn’t an easy topic to dance around with people his own age, or close to it, when they hung out on holidays and such. It wasn’t uncommon for her elder cousins to go off and spend time together after the family part of celebrations were over, and questions about dating and talks came up.

Plus, before moving here, trips to see family or going out shopping or concerts..he had to avoid certain topics. It would be easier if he didn’t have to...at least in private.

When he got her next text Hyeon let out a hum in understanding even though it was only to himself.

Maybe find a way to see if you can bring something to the house? Something subtle like that might work, but I understand. Certainly don’t want to be rude. I can do that, I’ll coordinate any ideas with her soon then.

He might even try and feel out some of the older generations if he thought they were open minded enough but he would have to make sure it wouldn’t backlash Seung if he did. He was pretty sure his Mother at least would be one he didn’t try to feel out though.

Reading the message as she worked on cutting up the meat she was going to put into the soup, when it was time, she went to season it lightly before deciding to respond to the text. Hyeon wouldn’t mind waiting a few minutes for her, he’d understand.

I’ll try that and see if it’s big enough. I want to see how Seung-oppa is doing anyway. College is a lot and now this, I hope it hasn’t affected him too badly.

She hoped it didn’t sink him into depression, she knew he’d suffered it in the past. She knew a lot of people did, friends of hers, her cousins...she knew plenty of people. Most would never speak about it, or if they did they were vague about it.

Maybe bring him something from home? Something cute he’d like? It might help. You can bring me something from home also when you come here, oppa.

She honestly did think something, a gift, might make her elder cousin feel better especially if it was from Hyeon. She had added herself in because she wouldn’t mind something either, and truth be told she didn’t want to feel left out...and she missed home as well. She missed a lot of the things that were so easy to find there. Things taken for granted.

Quote:
Hyeon relaxed a bit more when he read Eunkyung’s next text. At least it was something she could do. If it turned out that the house wasn’t big enough for everyone then he would just speed up his plans on finding a place and Seung could come live with him.

Thank you, let me know how that goes alright? Though I may or may not be in America at that point depending on when you find out. I can do that, I’ll be sure to go shopping at least one more time before I leave then.

Not that he hadn’t been planning on bringing them stuff anyway, and he might have bought them a few things already as well, but it was good it get an idea of what his cousin would like.

Quote:
Smiling as she read the message, she really was glad Seung had Hyeon on his side supporting him. She hoped more of their family, the younger ones, would support him as well. Family was important and she knew it was important to her elder cousin, it was important to her as well. To feel like it was an older generation vs a younger generation was...unsettling and upsetting - dividing.

Of course, I’ll keep you up to date. Be safe Hyeon-oppa. Don’t rush coming here for us, I’ll help Seung till you arrive.

At least she would do her best in helping Seung-oppa and making sure he was doing ok, she knew it had hurt him being thrown out of the home. It was becoming more common, but it still wasn’t the most common thing, for young people to move out of their parents before being married. Seung, like many, had not been expecting to leave home till married...or at least till he had a job since she knew he had no plans to get married considering his leanings.

I’ll talk to you later oppa, I’m cooking right now. If you need anything let me know...I’m going to send you information on Destiny City University...just incase.

Incase he planned on going to university, she wasn’t sure what Hyeon planned on doing. In fact, she didn’t even know if he had a clue what he wanted to do. He’d been in training and then an idol for so long he likely hadn’t considered anything else, at least nothing for a long time.

Hyeon read over the latest texts from his cousin and couldn’t help but give a small chuckle and a fond smile. He was certainly glad that at least one of them were there to help out Seung through this and he would be there soon as he could to help out farther.

Thank you <3 I’ll try not to rush it, have to be able to make sure nothing is lost in transit after all.

He then paused briefly on the last part as he thought over just what it would mean to go back to school and actually learn more then the pieces he had unless it was an online course.

Talk to you later Eunkyung-ah and thank you for the information. I’ll be seeing you all soon, stay safe.
