It was the most exciting night of the festival yet! Or well, rather, day! Amonee could barely contain his enthusiasm that he was going to get to spend the entire morning and afternoon with his favorite friend, Xavier Leinte. He was so glad that they'd found each other as children and could do things together during the sunlit hours when other trolls slept to avoid the warm shining rays of the sun. Amonee couldn't blame them considering that they'd go blind but... it was so wonderful to have a friend like him that could be with him anytime! The painter was somewhat needy in that regard.
And Xavier was the kindest sweetest friend anytroll could ask for. A little cautious but once you got to know him, you couldn't find a more thoughtful person.
Today's activity was going to be making a hearty soup for their other friend Nucleo. It was always fun to surprise each other and the two jades were sure to catch him off guard with this. After the barista's booth at Bloodfest, Amonee thought receiving a homemade soup from someone else would cheer the greenblood up greatly. So he'd fetched a bunch of produce from the marketplace and carefully laid it out in Xavier's kitchen while the other boy did a few errands of his own. It wasn't uncommon for Amonee to barge into the quieter jade's hive and hang out. It might not have been polite but with Xavier, Amonee was simply too excited to remember social niceties and rules. The other boy was stuck with him and his affection.
"Xavi! There you are! Look, I cut some carrots like a flower!" He thought he heard the front door open and he called to Xavier from the kitchen. Ooohhh, this was going to be the best day ever!leon_a_darkangel Terrible cook casually takes over your kitchen! I tried to leave it vague where Xavier was or what he was doing because I couldn't remember if you wanted him to be making mooncakes before this or not!

Xavier was excited for the festival, as it was a pleasant expression of one of his favorite times of any particular sweep. Once upon a time he had kept to himself, and rarely spent time with any troll in particular. Almost overnight that had radically changed. His hive was spacious, so sharing it with those he was close to had become a natural part of everyday life. If it wasn't Eilidh, Nucleo or Amonee generally frequented the treehive on the lower end of Busthind. He'd purposely given them their own guest rooms just for each respective troll because it had felt right to do so. That morning Xavier had not been made aware of any plans to visit or hang out. He'd slept in until the first rays of sunlight had alerted him his night nap had transformed into him being up around early morning from the looks of it. Yawning tiredly, he crawled from his recupracoon and quickly went to wash up. Once changed and dried off he padded towards his nutrition block. He'd done his extra decorating and shopping earlier so he didn't have to go to the local trade post. Anu was comfortably settled down on the terrace tenderly fussing over something in the vegetable garden from the looks of it. Rubbing at one of his eyes, he tried to will away the light tinted jade circles under his eyes. What he realized was there was a voice calling for him. Standing in the kitchen he looked directly at the source. The other jadeblood was just out of arms reach from his current position. He smiled suddenly, although it was a very tired one. "Hello, good morning to yuh!" Xavier replied to the other boy, realizing he was glad to see him. After he'd found Nucleo and Amonee following the space disaster he'd been worried sick and had refused to leave either trolls company for a few days. With the rotten memory somewhat behind them, Xavier was just glad to have Amonee in his life. There was something to be said about always having sometroll to talk to. Day or Night. Not only that he was a comforting constant source of chatter. Even if Xavier wondered sometimes if he was boring in any sense to the paintere. He was reminded of the mooncake he'd made for the other troll. It was sitting on his kitchen counter. Right along with Eilidh's, and Nucleo's for that matter. Although his was not a confession cake, it was still an expression of friendship and gratitude for the other. For a fleeting moment Xavier thought to toss the box far out of site. Of course doing so would of course call attention to the object. The boisterous jade was talking about carrots. Blinking a few times Xavier had been struck by the others natural charm. His friend's enthusiastic energy contributed to his being lost in thought. "Huh? Flower carrots..?" Xavier inquired with a furrow of his brow as he moved closer to inspect what he was talking about. Sure enough, Amonee had been true to his word. "Ah, what is all this for? Are you working on a recipe?" Xavier asked curiously as the freckled jade looked to his friend as he offered a quick hug in greeting for him. Yamashii. Terrible cook is always welcomed it's alright between them they will make something semi decent LOL. Hope this works! left it a little general but figured it worked

Xavier wandered in, sleepy eyes and dreamy eyelashes, and Amonee jumped to join the outstretched arms to hug the other jadeblood in a cozy squeeze. The gemcutter was just too cute in the way he quietly and humbly went through his day! Letting go of Xavier, the painter beamed at the question.
"Carrots! For a stew. Nucleo's been feeling down lately and I thought we could cheer him up." He'd picked out a nice variety of ingredients to throw into the pot but had no idea what to do with any of them other than chop stuff up. Amonee was great at coming up with dreams, Xavier was better at seeing them through. Hopefully his friend would know what to do!
It was a little strange, the way Xavier glanced at the odd box on the counter nervously, but Amonee hesitated on pressing him on the ma- Nope, he couldn't do it! Ever the gossip and pushy friend, he picked up the box and presented it to Xavier with a teasing smile.
"First thoughhhh, you have to tell me who the lucky troll is~" He kept a grip on the box so the other boy couldn't snatch it away and run in embarrassment.
"You know, the one getting the red cake." Oh, the look on his face was just precious! Amonee wasn't picking on Xavier out of malice but rather- affection!

Xavier blinked rapidly as Amonee came to him, leaping practically into his arms. The exchange brought a sense of peace to his otherwise tired mind. Giving the other a firm squeeze, he let go only when the other pulled back from the hug. He never pulled away from others until they were ready. It was his way of showing appreciation for those he was close to. "A stew? Hmm!" Xavier mused. His brows furrowed hearing Nucleo had been down. "This is a sweet gesture, I hope it helps him. I'd be happy to help yuh." Xavier looked concerned for their friend. Determined to help, he went to fetch a pot to cook with. Gathering up some garden herbs, he tossed them into the water along with seasoning salts. The jadeblood had based his selection on the vegetables Amonee had so lovingly cut up. Jade dotted the teen's cheeks at Amonee's next question. He reached out, giving him a pleading look at being asked to share his feelings. Amonee had shot past him by a few inches, and while the gap had narrowed between them it still gave the other jade an advantage. Fidgeting a little he he smiled sheepishly. "No fair!" Xavier sighed softly. "Okay..If yuh must know. The...red one is for my lady friend Eilidh...a..and.." In a shy rather timid fashion the troll's hand gesture to the second box closest to Amonee. "That one.." His freckled face was pale suddenly. "...O-open it..Tell me what you think?" Xavier managed to say without too much stuttering. Although he did worry at his bottom lip.

The mysterious Eilidh came up again, the girl who had captivated his friend's pump biscuit. Amonee had secretly tracked down her address in order to request a meet up with her but he hadn't told Xavier yet. The painter wanted to learn more about her without his best friend giving her a heads up. Was she good enough for Xavier?
He hoped so. Amonee so badly wanted this to work out for Xavier.
"Ooh, a confession? You have to tell me how it g-" The other boy shyly pushed another box to him, cutting Amonee off and he accepted it. How curious, he hadn't thought to check the other boxes after finding the red cake. Amonee opened it quickly, curiosity often made him impatient.
"It's a... pink cake, how cute! I love it!" His face flushed at the sight of it. He wasn't stupid, he had seen so many TV dramas and shows. These were quad cakes. This was a pale quad confession in a mooncake. But Xavier wasn't asking him to accept it, he was asking him what he thought of it. Did that mean... it wasn't for him? Intense jealousy surged through the typically sweet mannered Amonee and he hated the thought of someone else getting this cake.
"You're growing up, aren't you? I'm proud of you." It was amazing how confident Xavier had become, finding quadmates already! Amonee had barely found anyone like that, too confused in what made a quad something special compared to friends. So far, the only trolls he felt strongly about were Xavier and Nucleo.
"I hope they feel the same. I know they will." He smiled uncomfortably, not wanting Xavier to give it to anyone else but not wanting to stomp on the boy's other relationships. It was just a little scary, what if he was giving it to Nucleo?
Amonee held onto the box with a confused heavy feeling in his pump biscuit.

Xavier felt his pump biscuit throb painfully as the other troll picked up the box he'd asked him to take a look at. The freckled jadeblood stared at the other as he looked suddenly uncomfortable as he told him he knew they'd like it. Oh..had he not asked the other properly? He felt stupid, given he had intended the gift to be for the very troll holding the mooncake in question. "You see. It's.." He had to take in a breath, his confidence was not made of iron. Least of all with his best friend looking at him so heartbroken and flustered. Xavier was not use to seeing the painter looking so despondent. It was now or never Xavier realized in that moment. "For you. That one is anyway...I wasn't sure about doing it this way but.." Xavier stepped a few paces closer before lightly closing a gloved hand around the painter's hand on the box. His smile while tentative, was genuine. It was amazing having another troll to share time and space with. They had understood one another nearly from the moment of their first meeting. Between them, Xavier wondered if Amonee knew just how much his energy, and kindness had helped see him through countless restless days and nights. The other troll was a dreamer, and filled with ideas and hope. His sense of duty seemed less like a burden when they were together. Amonee always found ways to make things fun, if not pleasant no matter how stressful. Xavier could always talk regardless of what it was, endlessly it seemed sometimes. "I'm not the best with how to explain myself. Um. Yuh..you see? You have always been there for me...and I couldn't think of a better way to go about the topic...So yeah I hope you, and she like them. I made Nucleo one, but it's not decorated like..." Xavier's voice trailed off as the boy rubbed the back of his neck and lightly. Well like those. It wasn't like he didn't care about him. He began tapping one his hiking boots on the ground. His eyes even averted to the floor, unsure what else to say for fear the other would find this ridiculous. The other had just said he was proud of him, but how would his jadeblood companion truly feel about the whole matter? Amonee was an absolutely wonderful troll and deserved nothing but happiness. A well of emotions made him uneasy. It wasn't unreasonable to believe he wouldn't have a chance in this regard. Nucleo meant a lot to either troll it was all rather confusing Xavier had to admit. It showed in his reserved manner he approached the delicate matter at hand. What would his lusus think? He'd walked to Mum a bit about it, but the real question was how would Amonee take to the news? Xavier had put a lot of thought into this, but now he was worried he'd make a fool out of himself as doubt plagued his thinkpan.

Amonee was a talkative and curious troll. He could count the amount of times he'd ever been speechless on one hand.
The first had been when he'd met Unicroak for the first time. A parent to guide him, and scold him, through a lifetime of adventures had gulped him up in her mouth to carry him home. He was glad the days he was small enough to fit there were over.
The second had been spotting another like him wandering the rocky sunlit paths of Busthind. Xavier Leinte, he had learned was the boy's name, and for the first time in their lives, the two of them had finally cast aside the dreadful feeling that was loneliness. It felt good to have someone understand him and to in turn, understand another.
The third time had been watching Nucleo Glatte fall from the sky, toppling down the side of a cliff and plummeting to certain pain. His pump biscuit had frozen in time for those agonizingly slow seconds watching the barista barely miss the jagged rocks that would've killed him on the way down.
The fourth had been catching sight of his muse, the epitome of trollkind Frossa Fyrste, among a booth full of flowers. True beauty and true selfishness, before his very eyes. It was the culture that his television had shown him and the culture that he'd embraced, not knowing anything else. She was adorable, aggressive and charming and he'd found true inspiration that night.
The fifth time had been recently. A deafening roar, followed by the shrieking and groaning of metal as the building began to collapse after the explosion. Nucleo's eyes full of determination but terror at the same time as the two of them clung to each other, unable to hear or process anything as they fled the space elevator to save their own skins.
Tonight, it seemed, he would finally reach the second hand. The painter stared at the box in his hands, then to Xavier's face, and back to the box. It was for him. It was for him. He was so happy, he could cry. So he did.
"X-Xavier, I... you are-" Hiccups came and Amonee felt embarrassed at how emotional he was getting but the jadeblood couldn't help himself. He knew the other boy wouldn't judge him though and he let down the wall, knowing Xavier was the kind of gentle sensitive troll not to bother him about his flustered emotions. The box was shoved aside to the counter as Amonee grabbed onto his dearest friend in another squeezing tight embrace.
"It's the same. For me. I don't know when this started but... I've thought of you as a moirail for a while now. I guess I was too scared to tell you. I thought you and Nucleo or you and Eilidh- How silly of me!" He pressed his lips to the other jadeblood's forehead and let out a laugh full of light and joy. He'd suffered a lot of trauma and stress from the recent events of Civisect and while he wasn't over it yet, somehow the shorter jadeblood came along doing things like this that told Amonee, everything was going to be okay. Together they could survive anything. He felt like he was floating. Amonee wanted to soar into the morning sky and drag Xavier along with him!
He settled instead for plucking the cake from it's container and carefully tearing it into halves, keeping one for himself and pushing the other to Xavier.
"A toast to the troll who makes me feel safe, no matter what I've been through or what I've seen! You're amazing, Xavi."

Xavier had a flurry of thoughts weighing on his thinkpan, especially as he watched Amonee. The way the other went silent made him instantly worry he'd managed to upset the other. His friend was chatty, and usually between them they filled silence. Amonee used his words and art. For Xavier it was with his music. As the other stood there, looking from the box to him and back again, he swore an eternity passed. A well of emotions swelled as he saw tears bubble into the taller troll’s eyes. The hiccups that followed had him reaching out to comfort him. There were no judgmental frowns, nor chiding him to stop. "Now you got me started." He smiled despite the tears. As Amonee came to him then for a hug Xavier met him halfway. His arms wrapped around him, hugging the other tightly to match his hold. It took Xavier a moment to actually let go, he couldn't help hold on a little tighter to the other troll. It was Xavier's turn to find tears in his vision. A few stray droplets rolled down his freckled cheeks at the others confession. I've thought of you as a moirail for a while now. So it wasn't just himself, the feeling of solidarity on the subject made him sniff loudly, close to doing more than simply cry. Xavier rubbed at one of his eyes breathing in to keep the sob at bay. During the Disaster at the space race, it had nearly broken his pump biscuit in half at the idea of either Amonee or Nucleo being injured. The fact they'd all walked away with their lives was a true miracle of life. "I wasn't sure how you felt.. I'd be honored to call you my moirail Amonee." Xavier murmured softly shaking his head to dispel any lingering doubt he might have had. "No...Nucleo is one of my best friends, but that's not the same. Eilidh has a different kind of feeling." He admitted softly, sheepish really. It was complicated but he understood the distinction enough to lead to his asking Amonee now about becoming his moirail. Closing his eyes as the other pressed a kiss to his forehead, Xavier sighed softly the worry lines smoothing from his brow. His laugh brought a small chuckle from the other. He knew he and Nucleo had it much worse..there was still so much sadness, and stressful talks left to be had as it would always be a permanent reminder of how fragile life was. The Civisect tower had fallen to ruin. Eilidh and he had been rather fortunate all in all. Gently he returned the gesture in a press of lips to Amonee's temple. "Thank you.." Xavier replied softly, for much more than just this exact moment. Carefully he took the half given to him. His cheeks flushed jade as he looked then into the other's gaze with his own rather than averting. "A toast to the troll who understands me, and gives me strength when I lack the courage to be by myself." Xavier studied the other for a long moment before smiling gently as he raised his half to the other before motioning to eat it.

"To us!" Amonee bit into his half and giggled as the tension in the room disappeared. It had been somewhat nervewracking until Xavier said the words back. Already, he felt much better about some of the problems in his life and while several still remained, the other jadeblood would help him through them. Xavier had a way with making things just work even when the situation was less than ideal.
"Well," He beamed at his moirail over his shoulder as he turned back to the bubbling pot on the stove, "If this hasn't been the best Harvest Festival yet, I don't know what could possibly top it." Tugging open a drawer, he drew out two spoons and extended one to Xavier. It was time to taste the results of their work. Dipping his spoon in, he brought it to his lips and sampled it.
"You were spot on with the herbs I think." Although it was for Nucleo, Amonee couldn't help but be naughty and dip his spoon back in for another taste.
"Do you think he'll like it? He's got a more refined palate than me..."leon_a_darkangel A little shorter but still fluffy

Xavier confirmed with eating his half to match. The others giggle made him have to cover his mouth as he bit into his half of the cake. "And to the sweeps to come." Xavier flushed at the addition. The smile Amonee had flashed him was worth a thousand more confessions if that was the end result. Did this really make it official? "This is much different than last year..I just celebrated with Mum." He admitted with a small shake of his head. Xavier wasn't even sure when it had begun, but life looking out for the other had become part of everyday life. Approaching the pot, Xavier examined the boiling contents with a curious sniff. Taking the offered spoon he dipped it in, sipping at the contents following Amo's lead. "Hmm.." He nodded in agreement. "I think he'll like it. Especially cuz it was made for him. Yuh!" Xavier replied with a wide grin. "Nucleo does have a great palate...but he will be surprised no doubt." Humming pleasantly Xavier retrieved a few mason jars to fill up in order to store in the fridge. "Mm..did you want to watch a rom or something before these go to their rightful owner? Or?" Xavier leaned on the counter once he was done, a pleasant smile on his face was directed at his palemate. Yamashii short is fine no worries!

Xavier handled the jars and Amonee reached to help portion out the stew. This would be enough to feed the barista for a few nights and the two jadebloods could keep a jar themselves too. He was so relieved that the shorter jadeblood was a more capable chef than himself or this could've turned out so bad.
"Yes! Oh please, I know a great one to watch." He grabbed a few mugs so they could enjoy more of the stew while they snuggled on the couch. The two trolls fussed over getting all the snacks they would need before moving to the other room to cuddle together in a pile of blankets and pillows in front of the screen. Music started to play as the actors and actresses began their lines and Amonee pulled Xavier into the crook of his shoulder. It just felt more comfortable with the other boy's warmth and weight on him.
"Hey, ah, this reminds me. I forgot to say good luck." He smiled, wishing Xavier all the fortune in the world with his other confession. "Have you thought about how you're going to do it?"

Xavier noted the fact the other seemed if anything relieved as he shuffled around and took care of packaging up the soup. If he didn't know any better, he'd swear Amonee without at least Unicroak, Nucleo or himself the other troll would likely starve. It wasn't really a problem, Xavier had learned how to bake and cook better thanks to Eilidh so it worked out. "Sure, you can pick." Truth be told he didn't watch that television unless it was in the company of others. Grabbing a few other goodies like the walnuts and almonds he'd bought at a local market stand in one of the Busthind villages he hummed thoughtfully. Spoons followed should they be required. Xavier looked to the other almost curiously as he followed him to the small blanket and pillow pile. Once settled down and pulled close to the taller jadeblood, Xavier rest his cheek against the other and while ever mindful of his large rack of horns he closed his eyes for a moment. I never thought I'd find someone like you. Listening to the music and voices from the movie, he slid an arm around the other as he leaned into Amonee's frame. His eyes opened immediately as the other wished him good luck. "Ah! T-thanks.." His brows furrowed as he glanced at the movie as he considered his words. "Not..really beside trying to be honest and not trip over myself while confessing." He admitted sheepishly indicating his nerves on the matter.

"That's just part of your charm, you know." Amonee couldn't help but smile at the other jadeblood's self deprecating (but also partially truthful) humor. While the painter was admittedly a complete ditz that struggled to take care of himself, at least he wasn't a complete clutz like Xavier! But that combination of intelligent and clumsy was cute to watch, even cuter to tease.
"Oh, maybe you can take her out dancing! Or I know- a moonlit meadow with- no, make her a mixtap-" He rambled on about ideas as the movie continued, each one a romantic cliche like the ones he loved to watch on the screen. Once Amonee had run out of ideas, or perhaps noticed Xavier simply smiling and shrugging along to humor him, he quieted down with an embarrassed laugh. He had been talking over the movie, oops.
"Whatever you pick will be perfect, I'm sure. I'm so happy for you two. A little jealous almost!" Not jealous that they were close but more that it had to be nice to have a flushed bond like that. The only troll he had ever felt that way about was... complicated. Amonee turned his attention back to the film to avoid thinking more on the matter. Maybe another time, right now was a celebration of his relationship with Xavier!

Xavier felt his cheeks flare up slightly with a pucker of embarrassment. "Oh yuh, my charm." He blew a small rasberry as he couldn't help but laugh softly with a light chuckle. Xavier was hardly angry; he actually found it humorous the other was teasing him. "Because it's charming to fall on your face." Xavier laughed then as he went silent, listening to Amonee and his various ideas of romance, and ways to tell someone how you felt. All those seemed very lavish and...well he did listen at least! Amonee could at least give him credit for that. He wasn't sure if those were the right ways to do it, but he certainly kept it in mind to try and make it special whatever he came up with. Blinking suddenly, rather curiously the teen looked at his friend with that wonder plain to see in his gaze. "A little jealous? Why so? Do you like someone, Nee?" Xavier gently leaned in just a bit, extending a digit to poke at his cheek in a rather childish fashion. Xavier couldn't help it as he gave Amonee a sly look. "If you ever did, I wish you the very best as well!" He squeezed at him a little his gaze following the others back to the television. Truth be told the plot was lot on him. Listening to Amonee talk had taken precedence over listening to it all that closely. Woopse! Although the romantic melodrama was fitting the situation, it was hard to take it seriously.
