MAYHEM BEGINS HERE

It looks like things have gone a little haywire in the most esteemed Library of the Librarians, better fix things before the Curator returns. This library makes the fabled library of Alexandria look small in comparison, it only holds the most important and extensive archive of well, just about anything you can get a quill and paper too. If everything was to remain in its unfulfilled, disarrayed state, terrible things could happen. History would be recorded wrong! Human recreation would be misrepresented! I mean look at this poor Human-recorded book, all it says now is "And the Deathly Hallow". They didn't even spell "Halloween" right!

OOC: Don't forget to go exclaim HERE] and respond as you'd like accordingly to it (it doesn't have to be long!) and then you are ready to start creating and joining your own rps! exclaim

WHAT COUNTS TOWARDS MY 600 WORD BONUS FOR THE DAY/WHERE CAN I START RPING?

There are several rp methods in this event:

gaia_crown [ GM ORP ] Every few days a GM orp will open up. Check the Event announcements thread to see which ones are active. Participating in them MAY give you special IC prizes. Each one MAY have a different setting so make sure to read all the given rp information in that thread!

gaia_crown [ Daily Prompt ] A daily prompt is pretty much like writing a "drabble" solo. Every day there will be a different prompt you can try. If you miss a prompt, you can also write the previous one too instead of the current. Check it out here

gaia_crown [ PRP/Solo/ ORP ] This part is self guided. You can post in this event thread any prp/solo/orp you think of using the guidelines below. Please read the below on how to prp/solo/orp for the event!

As mentioned, as all the book pages have been scattered there are so many different types of books you can write and fulfill. When you open a book, your character will immediately be sucked into the bare backbones of the book with the setting ONLY in tact. Sometimes, a book has no pages, sometimes it has have, sometimes it has a few pages.Your goal is to fill the missing pages, and that is up to your creative discretion as to icly how! If you're feeling tired from rping in that setting you can simply "eject" your characters from it and consider the book filled (or partially). You can even come back to the same book and rewrite stuff or continue it as you wish.

"(FAN)FICTIONING"
gaia_crown You may PRP any written format book that exists in ACTUAL OOC FORMAT (ie: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc).

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

- This does include comic books, manga, written movie and tv scripts, whatever you can find really
- When your character is in the book, they become a character in it while keeping their core identity name/general appearance. As long as they are in the book, they believe they are a part of the storyline/setting. Have you ever written an AU fanfiction? That's exactly it.
- The owner of the PRP should provide a brief setting of when this takes place and where before everyone in it dives in.
- You may include as NPCS actual characters from the series as you need.
- THIS IS ULTIMATELY A WORK OF (fan)FICTION so be as goofy or serious as you'd like, as any events occurring in the PRP are simply archived as a (not entirely accurate) book.
- More than one person can use the same book title in different rps, it doesn't matter who is "rewriting" that book.
- When battling, adapt your character's IC battle abilities to look like some attack from the setting (ie: using a wand in Harry Potter instead of using a Y1 fear that requires summoning a giant shadow). Same with any special abilities, the sky is the limit (ie: a Hunter's weapon could become a patronus or simply disappear, or turn into a familiar).
- In general, you should follow the setting of the book you're in, so if it's for example, about 'Twilight', then it probably doesn't have ***** werewolves yet.

Example:
The book read "Alice's Adventures in __Land". Part of the title was scratched out, but that didn't bother Steve. With a deep inhale, they opened the book, and waited briefly as their consciousness was literally torn away into the book.

When Steve woke up, he was hanging upside down from a very large mushroom. It was staring at him quite angrily. There was a sign that was still dripping in paint that said TULGEY WOODS, and the odd, dissonant quacks of what sounded like a thousand angry kazoos. Just as Steve was about to explore further, he nearly ran into a white blur, one that tripped and dropped a large clock.

"H-how dare you!" said the white blur, which was very much in the shape of a rabbit wearing clothing. "Now you're going to make me so very late, and the queen won't like it when I'm late!"

The rabbit then exploded are you still reading this probably not, I mean you have to have some life. Unlike me. It's a good thing nobody knows I've broken the matrix and figured a way out bec-

PREVIOUS RP "ABRIDGING"
gaia_crown You may also PRP PREVIOUS TIH PRPS that have your character in them, in a relatively "abridged" format.

- Find an old thread, and your character will have to repeat/remember the actions to the best of their ability that happened in that event.
- In this situation your character is actually aware they are not actually from that written point in time, but are trying to fulfill it the best of their memory. Creative license for these rps is absolutely fine.
- If a character from the original PRP is missing, just copy and paste their posts in a separate post and have your character react to them to the best of their abilities using the CURRENT scenario (overwriting what they actually said in the past prp).

Example:
Steve couldn't believe what John was saying! The horsemen were going to attack any moment during 1999! He had to do something but he wasn't too sure what exactly he did to stop the event. "Um," he finally suggested, "have you tried blowing the portal up?"

WRITING PROMPT

In the ANNOUNCEMENTS thread, the GM will sometimes announce a "Daily writing prompt". Completing these will count towards the 600 word point bonus. The prompt can be a minimum of 300 words and as long as you like, just one solitary post. Instead of responding to other characters, your goal is just to take the setting and write your character into that setting as best as possible in a stand-alone "short story.

THE LIBRARY EVENT TOOLKIT:

(PRP ONLY) BOOK MIMICS:

While most of the library-inclined denizens have settled into a middle aged content life of minimum wage and no payment interest property rental, some of them have only gotten more malicious and restless over time. Book Mimics are the of what happens when a forgotten book is left even more forgotten - it wants nothing better than to be memorable and remembered. Those trashy romance books about buff Roman general love, those not-quite fact books about how scintillating it would be to sear your steak for three seconds longer, those are what book mimics used to be. Now they just seek attention and of course, to be loved and popular. And what better way to be popular than to harass and invade anything that gets in their way?

gaia_crown [ Random Book Mimic Encounters! ]: Occasionally, in any of your page filling voyages (PRP ONLY), you may encounter a book mimic spawn. OOCly, this mimic can be summoned by the original creator of the thread by copying and pasting this code below into their post:

WILD BOOK MIMIC HAS BEEN SUMMONED
HP: 20 if EVERYONE in the prp is y1, 40 otherwise
Auto attack: 2 if EVERYONE In the prp is y1, 5 otherwise
Special effect: Book mimics have the power of forced narration. Every "turn" (that is after everyone in the prp has attacked or 8 hours has passed between attacks), the book mimic will force an absolutely nonsensical narration to everyone in the party. Unfortunately, everyone there will have to obey it to any degree. They are not life-threatening by any degree, but they are annoying. Some examples could be like "Book suddenly calls upon pots and pans to be washed" or "Book mimic demands suddenly everyone speak only in rhyme". These CUMULATIVE effects last until THE MIMIC IS KILLED in the thread only. The GM of the thread (the thread owner who summoned it) gets to make up one per turn until the book mimic is defeated. PLEASE PLACE THE FORCED NARRATION SENTENCE HERE AND DELETE THE REST OF THE SPECIAL EFFECT EXPLANATION NEXT
Battle reminder! A reminder that battle rules are here for everyone who needs a refresher. Make sure to always post the boss's remaining HP in your post so people know!

gaia_crown Book Mimics may use an ability called "forced narration" that forces the characters (rpers) in the book to do extremely mundane requests. These tasks must be fulfilled by at least one character before the book mimic can be defeated. When it is, everyone in the thread will pick up a page see below). Archive your page wins in your character's actual journal (make a post for this in your character's journal).

PAGES:

Pages are the "currency" of this event for IC happenings. Please make a post in your character's journal to log the collection of all pages you have earned. At the end of the event you will be able to tally them all! You can get pages one of three ways:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

gaia_crown By defeating Book Mimics (see above), you will get a page
gaia_crown By participating in GM orps, you will get a page at the end of the ORP of a certain amount.
gaia_crown By writing 600 words or more CUMULATIVE between all prp players in an orp, you will get a page.

At the end of the event, you will be able to use your pages to check out books permanently. This basically means that any prp you create in this event your character can ICly in person revisit again simply by opening the book and jumping into it! It means you can continue any AU narration and the likes. You are also allowed to invite other characters to it.
- If you would like to "check out" a prp a friend has created, and you have their permission you may also do this. Both of you will receive copies. Having two copies simply means that you guys can rp separately without needing one or the other person.
- In your character journal, make room for a post called LIBRARY COLLECTION. This will feature all the books that you own (link the prp to them) so that you can easily refer to their setting for future use. You can worldbuild as much as you like in that book, as it is an entirely fictional AU for you to play around with.

SEVEN QUILLS:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Out of some bizarre whim, the curator has created seven quills of beautiful, varying colours. There will be seven puzzles to solve in the various orps. If your character is the first to able to solve one, they will be randomly given a quill. Each quill has a bizarre effect.

gaia_crown Quill of Destruction: This allows the user to immediately destroy any book mimic they encounter. This can only be used in 1 thread a day.

gaia_crown Quill of Pride: This allows the user to get 2 pages per day instead of one for being a part of a prp over the 600 word limit. The more the merrier!

gaia_crown Quill of Knowledge: This bizarre quill allows the user to, in a book, be able to read the minds of other characters. Since mind reading is a tricky trait, they must voice the question first by icly rping it, and then see the result of what the other characters think versus what they say. This can only be used once per day.

gaia_crown Quill of Reflection: This quill allows the user to clone themselves. While sometimes this is absolutely bizarre and weird, sometimes it is absolutely normal in that narrative setting. The clone has the same traits as the original user but only lasts in book form till the end of the prp/opr.

gaia_crown Quill of Grief: This quill influences the emotions of other players. Using this quill will immediately cause other characters to notice your character, but in the tragic hero/heroine sort of situation where they can't help but feel bad and sorry for you. This can only be used once per rp per day.

gaia_crown Quill of Protection: This quill will protect you from the narrative hijinks of any book mimic. This effect lasts one per rp per day.

gaia_crown Quill of Revenge: This quill will almost immediately turn any hapless character in the thread into your archnemesis. Just uh, don't blame us for what happens... This effect lasts once per rp per day.
