Between the meal, the portal hop out to shower and shave, and talking to Lawr, Melvin knew this was the only time he'd feel well enough to talk to Rodney. The man had been all froens that morning and Melvin doubted that having a twitchy man be even less confident while a fight could break out wasn't going to help his slim chances at survival.
He should also probably appologize about dumping a lube blanket on him.
Actually probably not.
He went and found Rodney, slowly approaching him with his hands up. "We should talk now and no, I'm not here to murder you or shout. I've cooled off."
He lowered his hands. "Unless you need more time."

Rodney looked startled anyway. He had been at Rep's beck and call, but since getting kidnapped Rep had been giving him close-to-camp orders instead.
"H-hi," Rodney said, wringing his hands and flinching even at the very non-aggressive hand raise.
"Um, thanks," he said. At the not murdering. "N-no, if...if you want to talk, we should. I meant...to talk with you anyway. I'm sorry, for everything. It should have been a lot sooner. What...did you want to say? If....if you shout, that's- okay, I deserve...that. And if you....I mean, if you h-hurt me I'd, deserve that too, I just don't...h-handle it, well..." there was already panic sneaking into his voice at the hypothetical prospect of something Melvin had already said wasn't going to happen.

Melvin just stared as Rodney tripled through his words before raising his hands to gesture down slowly. "Rodney, I need you to breathe if we are going to get though this conversation. Actually we should probably sit down okay?" Else Rodney might pass out.
He walked to find some chairs out of the way and gestured for him to sit as he turned a chair over to his and sat down.
"I'm not going to hurt you. I got that out of my system back at the tent so if a lunch was going to happen it would have been then. I just wanted to give us both a chance to clear the air. Lawr explained his feelings for you and your agreement closed relationship. While I might be skeptical, you guys can do what the ******** you want. I was just surprised because I had no idea Lawr wanted to be with you further than what I saw and he pissed me off when he suddenly did a 360 and didn't even want my affections. Turns out that wasn't 100% true but I took it at face value and my brain snapped. I assumed the worse that this might have been going about longer and no one cared to tell me." Looking at Rodney, he wondered if he could be so manipulative to do anything behind anyone's back.
"There are a lot of issues with Lawr and I and you happened to touch a mine."
He breathed out and rubbed the nape of his neck. "This whole thing felt took much like how I thought Lawr wasn't with Horace when I hooked up with him so ...I guess I knew why he was so pissed off a lot better now."
It was still surprising.
"I didn't even know YOU wanted to ******** him."
