Essurio sat in class; as always, she'd taken her preferred seat in the back-left corner. Of course this wasn't a required class, it was just something freshlings could do if they were bored. It was a design class, something Essurio was very interested in. Thus far it had involved quiet, self-driven time with absolutely no attention falling onto her which was perfectly optimal.
Essurio listened to the instructions of the day cheerfully, excited to see what the theme would be today. Designing a coffee shop, how interesting! Essurio's imagination immediately started throwing ideas at her, almost so much that she didn't hear the end of the teacher's words. Two words in particular suddenly made her heart sink; "class presentation". Presentation? In front of the whole class? What if she failed and looked ridiculous? What's worse, today's lesson had to be done in pairs! Essurio looked around desperately, the classroom erupting into noise as everyone found their partners.musicaloner7 i honestly couldn't think of a setting for them lmao

For Orion, this class hadn't been one he'd picked intentionally. No, it just so happened that he'd started wandering into the class accidentally, instead of another one... and so the instructors simply switched it to him being apart of the Design class instead.
And as per usual, he wasn't paying a lick of attention. Sitting, kicked back in his chair, the hybrid was clicking away at his handheld game hidden beneath his desk. The volume was turned off, unfortunately taking away the great beats that it provided, but his fingers clicked away at the buttons making a little tune of their own.
He didn't even hear or notice that a project was to be underway, until the class erupted in kids getting up, scooting desks about loudly, and chattering away. Looking up from his game, he slowly scanned around the place. What was going on...? Landing on someone who seemed on their own, he helped himself on up, and wandered over to them, "Hey. What're we supposed to be doing?"

Essurio sat with her hands clasped in her lap, slowly sinking down as everyone else got paired up. She was too nervous to approach someone, and suddenly sitting at the back didn't seem such a great idea. She was about to decide to work on her own when someone spoke to her. Essurio instantly froze up, barely managing to murmur out a response. "Oh... um... we're... we're supposed to be designing a... coffee shop..." Her voice was hardly more than a mumble, and she avoided eye contact with the hybrid. With a little sigh, she realised she'd have to learn to talk to someone if she was going to survive a task in pairs. She looked up at him with an uneasy smile. "Do you... want to work together? It could... it could be interesting," she said, a hint of hope in her voice.

His eyes kept looking around at all the chatting kids around them, trying to eavesdrop and gain some additional information. All he got was tid bits of this and that of ideas a few kids had for something... what was it though???
Thank the gods the other freshling he'd approached seemed to have a grasp on what the deal was. A... coffee shop? Make one?? Shoot... his brows furrowed as he gave a soft 'tsk' of a disappointed exhale. Man... he didn't know the first thing in designing. That was more up his brothers alley! He was the more creative one, in Orion's eyes. But it was for school. And his mom would get all sad and cry if he kept slacking....
With the girls timid request, his attention was back on her, his winning cocky grin back on his face, " sure let's work together!" He chirped, "I'm Orion, what's your name? Got any ideas too?" Again he eyed the groups around them to try and snipe up some inspiration.

Essurio wasn't one for eye contact, but her lower set of eyes watched the boy gaze around the classroom. The small hallowed smiled lightly, looking down at her notebook. It was ok if her partner wasn't that creative and besides, she often looked to others for guidance too. Her smile wavered at his obviously unhappy response. Was it because of the task, or was it because he had to work with her? She kept staring at her book, her hand absent-mindedly doodling the front of the cafe.
Essurio looked up when he spoke to her, but looked away again as soon as she saw his face. He was grinning at her - her! - and actually didn't sound appalled at the idea of spending more than five minutes with her. When he asked for her name she was taken aback, which she realised was ridiculous considering it was a completely normal interaction; she just wasn't used to people bothering to ask her. "Oh... my name's Essurio," she responded, her voice a little more confident now. "I have a few ideas... but I'm not sure they're any good," she admitted, turning her page towards him. It was the front of a cafe, but it was made up of mostly straight lines, with the entire front being made of glass. "I thought, you know, everyone would do a dainty little cafe, so maybe... maybe it'd be more interesting to do something super modern?" she suggested, although her wavering voice made it clear that she was almost certain everyone would disagree.
