I don't really feel anything. Disturbed, my mouth curls downward in to a frown. Well, maybe there was something just beneath the surface of my mind, hiding in the depths of untapped thoughts. I just didn't know the words for it. Frozen in agony sat the very person who had caused the demise of my Lady. I should feel the greatest joy blossoming from me, or at least whatever satisfaction vengeance was supposed to feel. The title of queensguard had been given to me of all Mer. The honor of protecting Kaminae had been mine and I failed her. Seeing this terrifying yet beautiful creature before me just made me feel awkward. Why wasn't I more upset? Through the gentle waves of the ocean I reached out to her, this ascended women cast down by her own volition. Just before my finger tips brushed the edges of hers I froze. Biting my tongue, I tried to peer in to her eyes.
What would she think of me? Would this goddess have seen me as nothing more than some naive and blind follower of a tyrant? Did she not ever see what good Kaminae could do? No, not too many people seemed to have understood. But I didn't know that then. She was always so good to me, to my family. How could someone who brought the Mer together be evil? Was it truly villainous to take on the power that would save your people and lead them to a veritable golden age? I didn't think so.
But the way everyone talks about this lady. Look how pretty she is, so pained in her sacrifice. I don't understand. When Kaminae died I lost it for a bit, that can be admitted for sure. I didn't think there was much left for someone like me, someone who let down the person who meant most in the world. All my friends are telling me different. They've turned away from my Lady, choosing to believe the slander and forget everything she had ever shown us. Maria Kal, Maria Kal, Maria Kal. Her name became an anthem, transcending a simple moniker and transforming in to some weird symbol of hope. At least that's what they called it. For me, it sent shivers down my spine. Kaminae had been strong enough to lord over the very seas themselves. Maria was more than that. To me, it seemed like the one everyone should be afraid of was this one. I mean, just look at all of the things she has done.
s**t ain't normal.
A rumble against my back and I know its time to go. Cypress is getting impatient. I'm already an oath breaker, so I figured there was little harm in breaking the rest of mine. For so long I watched the world change from beneath the sea. Not once did I disobey my Lady and breach the waters. She isn't around anymore and apparently things are crazy out there. Now's a good a time as any for a young mer to set out and see the world, right? At least we thought so. I tentatively stroked the bone-spine tail wrapping around my left leg. We're going now. First stop, the surface. I sure hope people are nice up there.
Energy 550 Stats 8/10 Equipment Passives • Seashores The Mer are hyper-aware of everything around them, their five senses deeply active. They feel the light touching their shoulder, the running about of the small creatures, everything. They're very perceptive, moreso than most races. Furthermore, when listening through a conch (many Mer carry one everywhere), they can hear things for two kilometers around them.
• The Deep Blue Water, blessed by Kaminae, lives to do battle for you. You can manipulate it very precisely, and water manipulated by you is stronger than steal at base. Mer armor and weapons are made of water, and they weigh almost nothing, yet defend better than the armor of others, and attack better than any other spear. The water can indeed slice as if it were a blade, defend as if a shield even in liquid form. Specifically, this hardness scales with the energy you put into it: Novice - Titanium
The amount of water you can manipulate also increases with rank:
Novice - 100 Gallons
The water you are manipulating in its entirety retains that hardness, and the energy buffing the water lasts for four posts.
