After Fortuna left the Negaverse agent in the park she went swiftly through a few mirrors to go back home and powered down after exiting the large mirror she had stowed in her bedroom closet. Carefully she snuck through the small apartment and checked to make sure her siblings were still sleeping and that the house was still quiet and secure.
Aubrey had more than enough time to eat a quick snack and straighten up the kitchen a little before she went back to her closet mirror and Powered up again before she went to a mirror she had stowed outside of the old warehouse she had told Lopezite to meet her at. She had no guarantee he would even show up, but it would be an interesting time if he did.
Fortuna had arrived 10 minutes early and she strolled into the building and went through and lit the candles she had stowed inside. It wasn't that much different from the DMC training area she used, however it was in a completely different area of town and didn't have as many niceties, but it would serve its purpose well. If Lopezite decided to show.
Once the candles were all lit Fortuna turned slowly around in the room making sure there weren't any loose objects that would cause a hazard if they were fighting. Not spotting any she observed the terrain for a moment noting where the boxes had been stacked securely or haphazardly getting an idea of places she could take cover, or use as a distraction.
When she was finished observing, she pulled a charcoal stick out of her other boot and began working on a mural she had started on the wall. So far it only showed a moon in the sky illuminating the backs of figures that were fighting. She didn't know yet if they were friends or foes and waited to see where her art would take her, based on her experience with other powered people.
Lopezite arrived a fe minutes early; he didn't seem like he had been in any sort of rush to get there—as long as he was on time, that was all that mattered.
He had followed her energy signature once he reached the area she had designated and let himself into the warehouse that seemed to be housing her. He blinked, eyes skimming the area as he entered.
"Candles?" he prompted after a moment. "Well, this is almost romantic. If I had known you were going to put so much effort into setting the place up, I would have brought a bottle of wine."
His gaze travelled from the candles to the mural she was working on. He tilted his head just to get a different view of it, but not wanting to be rude he then focused his eyes to her face. He closed the door behind him before slowly strutting towards her, coy smile once more blossoming onto his face.
Fortuna laughed at his comment. "Candles mean I don't have to pay an electricity bill on an abandoned building and raise suspicion. But If it helps set the mood for you then I'm glad I could help." Fortuna muses as she finished up the last stroke on the shrouded figure then slid the charcoal back into her boot and turned to look at Lopezite.
"I'm glad you came, now we can see what you can do, and I can learn how my powers have changed since I achieved a new rank, it's win win for both of us." She added as she brushed her hair back from her face, causing a small smudge of charcoal dust on the edge of her cheek.
"Did we want to throw in any ground rules before we start? We wouldn't want a friendly match to get out of hand..." She added as she eyed Lopezite critically.
Though Lopezite's eyes were drawn to the charcoal stain on her cheek, he did not comment on it. Instead, he just smiled and kept his eyes trained on her. "Ground rules sound like a good plan, considering I have yet to engage in a battle of this nature and you seem a bit unfairly advantaged."
He had come to a stop and planted his hands on his hips as he observed her. "What rules do you usually enforce? I suppose I could request, no face, no hands. I need them both for work. Is that something you think you might be able to manage, Senshi?"
"I guess it is easiest to just say don't leave any visible marks, it's never fun trying to explain random bruises or cuts away." Fortuna responded, sounding as though she spoke from experience. Slowly she crossed over to where he stood, sizing him up as she did so.
"I will give you a warning now if my magic targets you, it has different effects on different people. You may find yourself reckless and overconfident so I just want you to be prepared if it happens, I can't control whether it effects me or my opponent... it is after all, a gamble." Fortuna warned as she met his gaze steadily. She then stepped back into a balanced defensive stance and waited.
"Alright, now don't hold back, lets see what you can do." She told Lopezite with a playful grin.
Lopezite kept a few words to himself, mostly that he already considered himself a bit reckless and overconfident, so he wasn't exactly sure if he had anything to worry about—or if there was a possibility he was about to be in a world of trouble.
"You have the advantage of magic against my," he paused, drawing out his sheath. He could barely consider it a weapon and even laughed as he drew it as if to wield it. "Dangerous blade."
He grounded himself, spreading his feet a bit to solidly plant himself there. "There we go, then." He gestured with his free hand.
"Ladies first."
"Forgive me I normally prefer to be on the defensive when facing a new target, however I suppose I can make an exception." Fortuna purred before stepping forward with two quick jabs towards his stomach before she pivoted into a side kick aimed towards his chest. She checked the power of her blow however, she did not wish to injure Lopezite.
Lopezite was deceptively limber; his eyes were on her limbs when she moved to attack him and he weaved cautiously away from both jabs. Her leg, however, he did not move away from. He wrapped one arm around her leg just before her leg made contact with him in an effort to staunch the blow—and incapacitate her for a few seconds.
The grip was slightly misplaced; he'd only meant to grab her by the most solid part of her leg, but this meant he was pinning her knee to him with his elbow—and that his fingers brushed against her outer thigh.
The curse of a Senshi Skirt—it was not particularly modest mid-battle. His eyes darted to his grip for a moment, and then he looked up and grinned. Trying to maneuver her, he kept her leg pinned to him and pushed the both of them backwards, as if to pin her between himself and the wall to their left.
"You're fast."
Fortuna's breath caught in her throat when he grabbed her leg and pushed her against the wall, warmth spread from his hand against her skin and where their bodies were pressed against one another. She could have easily broken his grip, but this was far more interesting.
"So are you it seems..." Fortuna purred back as she slowly trailed her fingers up his chest and around his neck as she wrapped her captive leg around his waist and pushed away from the wall as she used her other leg to sweep at his legs, hoping to unbalance him enough to take him down to the floor.
"But not fast enough."
Fortuna's movements were quick enough, and Lopezite in an unstable enough position against her, that her leg sweep took him to the ground. He landed on his back with a thud but seemed otherwise unharmed. He propped himself up on his elbows but didn't leap to his feat.
Instead, he grinned up at her. "Only when I need to be. Sometimes it's better to take your time. Slow and steady make for a better ride, I think."
His eyes were on hers still; he had a slight disadvantage laid out on the floor, or so it seemed—but he didn't seem alarmed.
Or in any rush to get up.
Fortuna had followed him to the floor, catching her weight on her leg that was behind him and bent it as she fell so that she didn't bruise herself kneeling on to the ground, instead she balanced herself so that her full weight was not on top of him, but was still balanced enough that she could not easily be thrown. She placed one hand against his shoulder and the other hand lightly on his throat, but did not apply much pressure.
"Sometimes taking your time could get you killed." she pointed out softly, as she leaned towards him, so that her braid trailed against him and he had a decent view.
"Sometimes all you can do is fight first before you are hurt."
He looked up at her with a slightly strained grin. "Yes," he agreed. "But sometimes…" His voice trailed off for a second and then he moved his free hand to her side and he pushed—he didn't try to dislodge her, instead he used his momentum and her weight atop of him to roll her over and switch their positions.
He straddled her, moving so that one of his hands was on her shoulder, pushing her gently into the ground while his other hand was planted firmly on the ground by her head, allowing him to hover his face over hers.
"…Patience is rewarded."
'He sure knows how to play...' Fortuna thought as she looked up into his eyes, normally she would freak out in this position, but she felt like Lopezite didn't want to hurt her, but her competitive nature would not allow her to be at a disadvantage for too long.
"How much experience do you have with ground fighting?" Fortuna purred as she grabbed his arm and twisted it back as she pushed herself up at the same time, she turned her body so that she could wrap her leg around his neck, attempting to neutralize him in a straight arm bar.
"I would think it would be smarter to get away from your opponent when you have a sword for a weapon, not closer."
Lopezite laughed. It was a little strained because of the awkward position, but he laughed all the same. "Oh, I'm the youngest of six. Most of my childhood was spent fighting from the ground."
One of his arms was entirely incapacitated and her legs might have put him in an uncomfortable position—if she hadn't left a patch of pale flesh entirely exposed.
"You might say," he said, eying it, "I've quite a penchant for finding my opponent's weaknesses. It is incredibly easy to catch them off guard when they think they've got the upper hand."
He had enough room to lift his head and licked up her inner thigh.
It was gentle and fleeting, and light and tickling.
The tongue on Fortuna's thigh was unexpected enough that she squeaked and lost her grip on his arm. She felt a rush of heat flash from her toes to her scalp and her skin tingled where she touched him. As the oldest sister, Fortuna was no stranger to being licked, however it was a lot different when it was an attractive male doing it to her leg.
Half disgusted and half aroused she jolted her hip up to roll Lopezite off of her and she did a backwards roll into a standing position. She then eyed him warily with her arms crossed under her breasts.
"I would say you are a dirty cheat, if I didn't respect such things." Fortuna told him, unable to keep the grin from spreading across her lips despite how much she wanted to be mad.
He matched her grin. "A gambler should anticipate a little cheating, I should think? But calling me dirty is a bit of a low blow."
He rose to his feet, still grinning. "But I suppose this was the most fun I've had in a while. I'm not sure what I expected. A bit more magic," he confessed after a moment, but there was a sparkle in his eyes. "Where are the bright lights, and confetti? The rabbits and scarves? I've rolled all over the ground for you and yet still have no idea what you're capable of."
"This is an abandoned warehouse, there is plenty of dirt that we were rolling in, dirty is an accurate term." Fortuna shot back as she brushed some dirt off her thigh and a smudge off her cleavage for emphasis. She looked at him and met his gaze.
"If showy fizzles were what you expected you will be disappointed. My magic doesn't have any visible effects." Fortuna said with a shrug. "We were having a nice time but if you want to spice things up..." She raised her hands above her head and crossed her her wrists and brought them down to chest level. She felt her magic spread out to hit Lopezite and effect him.
At first, Lopezite felt no effect; her magic was spontaneous and he was oblivious to it. To him, he felt as confident and self-assured as he had been walking in. He had no idea that now, her magic was influencing him as well. He bounced a bit, shifting his weight from one foot to the other.
"I was expecting something a bit flashier," he confessed, still watching her and waiting for her magic to work. "…Has it happened, yet? What is it supposed to do?"
He didn't doubt anything; a part of him wanted to attack her, but a part of him wanted to just stay there and talk. But maybe it was reckless to run your mouth too much when you were in the middle of a sparring battle. It just felt like the right thing to do, so he didn't really even stop to question it.
"I'd ask for a refund, if I were you. Once this sheath is a real sword, you'd be at a terrible disadvantage."
He moved swiftly and without warning; his sheath was in his hand and he wielded it as though it were a blade. Though his sheath didn't seem like a real weapon, he handled it almost effortlessly, and with a grace that was unbecoming of such a harmless antique. His moves were all a show of bravado, though; they were clearly performance moves. Until he lunged towards her, sheath aimed towards her stomach.
Since Fortuna knew an attack was likely to occur she was ready for it, crouched in a defensive stance as she observed his movements. It was probably true that once he had a blade he would be a lot more of a threat, all she really had to worry about from the sheath would be a few bruises, rather than loss of limb.
"Oh it's working alright, even if you don't think it is." Fortuna murmured as she observed his reactions to her magic. It seemed to differ dramatically between the different foes she faced, and she was certain this too would be an interesting development.
When he struck, Fortuna stepped slightly to the side and pushed the sheath away from herself with an open palm, with her free hand she grabbed his wrist and attempted to guide Lopezite over her hip and onto the floor.
Fortunately her opponent wasn't several stages stronger than her like the last few that her magic had targeted, turning harmless sparring matches into brief battles of survival. The Negaverse agent had proved to be tricky however, and not to be underestimated.
Lopezite, distracted by her magic, did not have the opportunity to observe her. He had been filled with overconfidence—a flaw he already carried—so made for an easy target while suffering her magical attack.
Her attack was executed fabulously, except she didn't anticipate one thing.
Lopezite did not hesitate to hook his arm around her waist in an attempt to stabilize himself the second he realized he was going down. He had a firm grip and even as he collapsed in a heap on the ground, he took her toppling down with him.
This time, he seemed a bit winded and grunted as the breath was knocked from his lungs. It didn't help that he'd dragged Fortuna down on top of him. His arm was still thrown around her, now resting in a loose hug.
He didn't try to get up.
"…Possibly, some part of that was a bad idea," he said after a moment, still trying to figure out which part had gone worse.
Fortuna let out a gasp when she was suddenly dragged to the ground on top of Lopezite. Her sides stung from the violent jerking but she couldn't focus on the pain, she was too distracted by the luminous glow of his eyes, inches away from her own. At first she tried to disentangle herself, but managed only to shift a few inches until her knee rested between his legs, pressing against his inner thighs to support most of her weight so she wasn't sprawled on Lopezite completely. One hand supported her weight on the ground and the other was pressed against his chest.
She stayed that way for a beat or two of her heart, her mind racing as she felt warmth spread through her body entwined with his, coloring her cheeks as she continued to meet his gaze.
"You were the one who wanted to get zapped by my magic..." she said quietly, her words vibrating through her chest that hovered inches above his. Fortuna did not attempt to move further, perhaps her own magic was affecting her a little, but she felt like she should stay still and see where this moment would take her.
Lopezite seemed a little surprised that she stayed on top of them, but he supposed the proximity was to be expected and they weren't actually fighting so there wasn't any reason to make hasty moves.
He blinked when another few seconds passed and glanced up into her eyes as if an explanation could be found there. "Well, yes," he said after a moment, "Truth be told, I'm of the mind that your Senshi magic is a bit lacking. The real magic seems to be found in your eyes."
"Maybe because you don't really want to fight me it isn't working properly, when I am targeted from my magic I get stronger and faster, I feel like I have all the time in the world to make a decision... But I have had different results with different opponents." She didn't reply to his last comment just blinked for a moment then smiled.
"Are you going to let me up or are we going to stay this way all night?" Fortuna questioned with an eyebrow raised in reference to his arms still around her.
Lopezite was taking in her information, content to stay still and let it seep in until she prompted her final question. He blinked and lifted his head a bit to see just what she was referring to. "Oh," he said, realizing what she meant. He released her quickly, instead choosing to plant his elbows on the ground and prop himself up a bit.
"Yes, of course. I apologize. I suppose that is enough sparring for me for one night. I admit, I am not too keen on battle. Perhaps I was only looking for an excuse to spend more time with you."
Fortuna grinned at him and pushed herself up, and off of him. She brushed off her skirts and her legs before reaching down a hand to help him up.
"That was not how my sparring matches normally go... though I think I liked it better, this one was more entertaining." She responded with an easy smile.
"Though if you want to spend more time together, all you have to do is ask, I have enjoyed tonight immensely, and I would be happy to spar with you any time... Or just hang out." She added with a slightly embarrassed laugh.
Lopezite took her hand and pulled himself up before promptly brushing himself off. He offered a word of thanks under his breath and then, satisfied that his outfit was mostly spared from filth or grime, he returned his attention to her.
"I think, then," he said after a pensive moment, "I should like that. Let's meet here again, sometime. I am free all evenings, after eight. Tell me the day, and I'll be here."
Fortuna grinned at him, glad he hadn't scoffed in her face about meeting again. She thought back over her schedule and then nodded, she still had Friday night poker nights, but the weekends her parents had visitation with siblings, so she wouldn't have to worry about rushing home to check on them.
"How about Saturday evening, I'll bring the candle light, you bring the wine?" She questioned with a raised eyebrow as she met his gaze steadily.
Lopezite returned the grin, amused with her delivery. "If I bring wine, it's going to have to be good wine. You'd best bring a lot of candles to make it a fair trade."
There was no seriousness in his voice, only playful mirth.. He seemed pleased at the idea of meeting up again and was making no effort to hide it.
"I'll look forward to it. You be safe, stay out of trouble. Though, I suppose you've proved you're probably pretty good at taking care of yourself." He smiled and waved. "I'll see you soon."
