Eternal Sailor Chaonis was rarely nervous, but tonight he felt like he was going to explode. Anxiety coiled tightly in his chest, pushing against his rib cage, crushing down his organs while flooding his throat with a tight, clawing grip. He looked at Hadaya, who he had hijacked before leaving the house, and the cat stared up at him in wonder.
The two were waiting at the community center, the usual spot for a meet up with Navi when they did not head out on patrol together. Generally, Hadaya accompanied Navi's side of the patrols, but tonight Chaonis had requested his presence.
Except Chaonis had not spoken to them since they arrived. Had he changed his mind about whatever it was he wanted to do? The Guardian Cat was unsure, and he finally could not bear it any longer. Chaonis was not even looking at him, pacing back and forth so much the Mauvian was sure he would wear his shoes down to nothing.
"Why did you want me to come with you to wait for Navi?" Hadaya ventured to ask, rubbing his head against Chaonis' leg carefully. True enough, they did not get along quite as well as Hadaya wanted, but he still cared about the Senshi of Danger. If only because Navi cared a lot about him.
And that was important.
"I just wanted to make sure you were here, okay? You don't have to say or do anything. Just. Sit there. Tell me if you feel Navi coming."
"But you'll feel it too, and you told her to meet us here so you know she's coming...?"
"Just shut up!"
Hadaya shrank back and Chaonis looked down at him, then sighed and moved to scoop up the stumpy cat before Hadaya could run away.
"Sorry, buddy. I'm just. Don't worry about it. Look. Just... wait and see, okay?"
Hadaya nodded his head, leaning his head against Chaonis' chest for comfort despite the fact that it was Chaonis that upset him. Cuddles always fixed things, no matter where the trouble came from.

Patrolling all on her lonesome was not something Navi particularly enjoyed, not since a certain psychotic general had made it very clear that there was a target on her pretty little head. Usually the senshi of tumbleweeds had her guardian with her, safely hidden under the protection of his aura dampening ability. for some reason, however, Chaonis had taken Haddy with him, and the both had left before she'd gotten much of a chance to ask why. So Navi had been forced to head out alone, but with the promise of meeting up not long after their patrol had started. Whatever Chaonis had had to take care of, apparently he didn't expect it to take very long. She took that to mean it likely wasn't terribly dangerous. Hopefully. Their meeting place, the community center, sat in the middle of their combined territory, and Navi found her way there easily. It had been quicker with mirrors--travel had always been so much quicker with mirrors--but she'd given that up when she'd walked away from the Dark Mirror Court. One more thing in a long list of things she missed from that life, but she hadn't given it all up for nothing. No, she'd given it up for something incredibly important. Someone incredibly important. She could see his tall figure walking back and forth across the roof of the center as she neared it, and just the sight of him made her smile.

Chaonis felt Navi approaching and looked up when she arrived, smiling at her on instinct only because there was a smile on her face already. It made him forget about his nerves and doubts, and he moved over to her immediately.
"Hey," he said, as eloquently as always. He had never been one for big words and grand gestures, that was for sure, but she must have been used to it by now. He offered her the cat, who smiled up at him in silent promise and then wiggled his paws at Navi for her to take him.
"Hi Navi! You look pretty tonight! Did you have a good dinner?" He'd missed food, dealing with this Chaonis thing, so it was the first thing on his mind. Plus, didn't everyone else get their happiest when they were full too? It just made sense to him.
Chaonis ignored him, scratching the back of his own neck thoughtfully once he was no longer responsible for holding the fur ball.
"Hey, do you uh. Want to go to my planet tonight? There's not much going on, patrol wise, and I haven't taken you there before. I don't go there much, anyway, but..."

Navi's smile brightened as she crossed the roof to meet them, and she was more than happy to take the stout little cat into her own arms as Chaonis offered him over. A delicate kiss was laid between the points of soft ears, her usual greeting to her sweet guardian. "Thank you, Haddy," she chuckled. "And yes, I did. Did Chaonis not feed you?" The senshi in question was given a bemused look. One that softened as she watched that nervous scratch at the back of his neck. Something had the senshi of danger worried, and she couldn't help but wonder what. She might have asked, but he spoke first, asking if she'd like to pay a visit to his planet, and that offer was enough to distract her away from any uneasy behavior. As a Dark Mirror senshi, Navi had never had access to space before. She'd been there, once, but it hadn't exactly been a pleasant trip. Now that she was a member of the White Moon, she actually had the ability to pay her own planet a visit. Something she'd forgotten about up til now. "I'd love to!" It came out rushed, eager. And small, self conscious laugh followed.

Hadaya burst into louder purrs when Navi held him, looking up at her and closing his eyes as she kissed him on his head. He snuggled against her contentedly, nuzzling and wiggling a bit to get the most comfortable.
Chaonis watched her and smiled as she answered, looking almost like he had been expecting her to say no. Why, he had no idea. She had no real reason to not want to go, and it was always interesting to go into space, particularly with one's boyfriend.
His paranoid brain just told him that maybe she knew what he wanted to ask, and would say no just to avoid it.
When did he lose confidence? This was an unwelcome feeling, and he steeled himself.
"Cool," he said, with a grin, and he reached for her hand. He nodded at her, then used his senshi phone to take them both through space to his homeworld.
It was exactly as he remembered it. Empty. Some large stones and metal beams sticking up from the otherwise flat, dusty red terrain. He had stopped coming here early on, as it had always seemed like a waste of time.
But now, he had something in mind to make it have an important memory attached to it.

It was very rarely she got to see such nervous uncertainty on those handsome features, and it made her smile to see it. Not because she ever wanted to make him nervous, but because it was just so different. He was her rock, her strrength, and protector. He always seemed so untouchable, that she somehow made him nervous was endearing. Shifting Haddy to one arm, she reached out to take his hand, and within the space between one breath and the next they had been transported. If she'd blinked, Navi would have missed it. It seemed ridiculously simple, effortless and quick, for something her firmer court had been struggling to do for so long. "Wow." This was her first trip into space, and there was a wonderment in her eyes, in the hush of her voice, as she tipped her head back to gaze up at a foreign sky. And it didn't matter that Chaonis was a desert planet, and scenery was sparse. It was still an entirely new planet, and Navi was very much in awe.

Chaonis looked around the dust ball of a planet with a distant look on his face. Pensive. He was not really seeing the orange dust, the empty expanses beyond, the massive ditches where the people that used to exist here made their homes. He was thinking, his eyes and what they took in not really important to the process. This planet was empty, and it always would be.
But it did not have to stay meaningless.
"Navi," Chaonis said after a moment, taking her hand and calling her attention to him, rather than the useless plains around them. "This planet of mine... you know, I've never felt anything from it. Never had a reason to come here, or care about it. It's empty. You can see that. It's just dust and metal and stone, and that's it. I never cared about it. But you... I know you could never travel to space until you purified... to be with me. Planets. You know, they mean something to you. And this one never did, not to me. But... with you here, now. Maybe it will."
Hadaya watched Chaonis, eyes shining. Could a cat cry? He was certainly going to try, because his emotions were welling up inside him in an impossible to resist or deny way. He nuzzled against Navi, even as Chaonis moved to take him for a moment. He took the pack attached to Hadaya's belt, then put him down on the floor. The cat relocated himself nearby, but gave them a little room.
Chaonis kept whatever he took from the pouch hidden in his fist, dropping the empty pocket to the floor. It kicked up a cloud of dust that was slow to settle.
"This place never meant anything to me, but I want it to. Because you're here. And we're here, together. No matter what happened, or how impossible anything was, or how many stupid things I did, we somehow got here. And I love you, with everything in me, and more than I know how to understand. I... I'm honored that you're here, that you're a White Moon senshi now. That you're my girlfriend. I mean. The woman I love. And... I thought, if this place doesn't have anything good for it in its past, maybe the future will be better. Our future."
He moved to one knee, looking up at her with his dark, but passionate and actually teary eyes. He smiled at her, though he was straining under the import of what he was trying to do. It was all new territory for him: he had never loved anything as much as he did Navi. And he never would again. That, he was absolutely certain of.
"Navi. El. I... I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want this planet to be our planet. I want everything I have to be ours. Together. Will you..." he showed her what he was holding in his hand, a ring he'd gotten for her, with everything he'd saved from his security job and for a long time before that. "Will you marry me?"

Strong fingers claiming her hand again was all it took to draw her attention from the foreign landscape and back to the senshi standing before her. She blinked up at him, curious and patient as she listened to what he had to say about the planet and it's meaning(or lack thereof). About wanting to give it a meaning. She should have known what he was up to at that point, but even as he took the cat from her her arm she still hadn't figured it out. It was the pouch she watched land on the dusty ground between them that gave her an inkling, his tanned fingers closed tightly around something he didn't want her to see. Navi gave him a long look as the gravity of the moment finally seemed to catch up with her. "Oh." It was soft and surprised, hazel eyes widening as he dropped to his knee and presented a ring to her. She squeezed the hand that was holding her's as she looked between those dark, earnest eyes and the glitter of the ring held between them, the other coming up to press over her mouth. He couldn't see her smile, only the way her eyes crinkled at the corners, but there was no denying the happiness that spread from her in waves as she he jerked her chin in a quick, almst clumsy nod. "Yes!" Her voice broke, and there were tears glittering in her eyes as pale fingers fell away from her lips. Then all at once he'd find himself with his arms full as she threw herself against him. Clinging to strong shoulders as she tipped her head up to catch his lips. Nerves made sense now, and why he'd wanted Hadiya with him. But he needn't have worried over her answer. She'd bent realty to be with him.

Chaonis felt like he had been waiting an eternity for her answer, even though it came quickly and with a bright light in her eyes that told him her answer even before she spoke it. He realized he had not been taking deep enough breaths, kneeling there staring up at her and forgetting about everything else.
When she leaped to hug and kiss him, he let out a laugh and wrapped his strong arms around her. He hoisted them both up, standing and swinging her around as he hugged her. Kissing her deeply, and letting the moment linger for some time before finally breaking away from her lips for a breath, he smiled at her as happily as he ever had before.
Hadaya watched them both, though it was very difficult to do through his paws when they kissed and all the tears from how happy their joy made him. He just loved them, particularly Navi, SO MUCH, and to know that Chaonis was going to make her even happier just made him love the Senshi of Danger, too. Whether he liked it or not.
Finally, Chaonis settled Navi back to the dusty planet, holding her face in his hand and smiling at her with all the warmth and love in the world in his expression.
"I love you so much, Navi. I know I'm bad at showing it sometimes, especially when you're cheating at video games, but I can't really see myself anywhere without you there, too."
He moved to hold her hand, looking at the ring on her finger and lifting it to kiss it, half jokingly, before putting his other hand over it. She had changed her entire life to be with him, after all. It was only fair that he do the same for her.

The senshi of tumbleweeds gave a startled little yip as she was swept off her feet in a dizzying spin. Or maybe it was the kiss that left her feeling a little light headed and weak in the knees. Or the subtle weight of the of the ring circling her finger. She wasn't sure what, but the result was the same, and when he set her back on her feet she held on tightly to his hands as he took her's. "I don't cheat, baby," she soothed sweetly up at him, squeezing his hand in her's. "I'm just really good." But all joking aside, she couldn't even properly express how incredibly happy she was in this moment. They'd talked about this, she'd known it was coming, but it still managed to be a surprise. That was part of what she loved about him, he was full of surprises. From the first evening they'd meant, when he'd kissed her instead of attacking. Everyday was an adventure with her handsome Fieryo, and she was thrilled to be able to walk that winding path with him in both the day and the night. She had a family that loved and accepted her. She had an adorable, sweet guardian as a second shadow. And she had her senshi of danger. Life might not have been perfect--they were in a war, how could it be? But it was pretty damn close. "I love you, Chaonis."

"I love you, too, my beautiful Elphaba." He smiled at her, forgetting for a moment that they were on his dust ball of a planet. He hated the place, because he had a very difficult time finding any meaning in it. Now, though, it felt like something new was just waiting to be found. Something worthy of this memory, and something that would make this place worth coming back to. He would build it by hand, if he had to, but he was determined now to make this empty asteroid somewhere worthy of their new union. Maybe he just wanted to impress his new fiance, somehow, despite the fact that he must have done something right in that respect already. Grinning cockily, his usual sideways smirk but lit up more than usual by his glistening (tear filled?) eyes, he leaned in to kiss her again, drawing her to him with the same possessive energy that had drawn them together so many times before. Hadaya cleared his kitty throat with a mew and Chaonis let his forehead rest against Navi's after he broke the kiss. Damn furball. "I guess we should get back to Earth at some point, huh?" In a literal sense, anyway. Metaphorically, he was probably going to spend a lot of time up in the clouds.

Navi melted into that kiss as she'd done time and time again since the moment she'd met him. Her heart was pounding in her chest like a trapped thing, pulse thundering in her ears, and she could feel an almost hysteric giddiness starting to bubble up from her toes. Feeling weightless, she suspected only his strong arms kept her from floating off into the atmosphere of the planet they were standing on. When Haddy drew their attention back to him she'd damn near forgotten he was there. Cheeks flushed, she turned her head carefully so Chaonis' brow still rested against her temple, looking down at her sweet little kitty before a wide grin split her lips. It was probably going to linger for a while. "Yeah, probably." She gave his cheek a kiss before bumping her head up under his chin so she could curl her arms up under his, breathing him in. A question occurred to her then and she tipped her head back to look up at him. "Do Kendall and your dad know?" Because if they didn't they should go tell them. And if they did, well, they could all celebrate together.

Chaonis made a face, scratching the back of his head guiltily and then shrugging his shoulders. "I maybe told dad a little lie about what the money was for. I told him we needed some repairs on the house, and I needed a loan. I don't think he knows what I really did with it." He often lied to his dad, though at least this time it was for a good reason. He wanted to surprised Kyn and Tony now that he knew Naviwanted to be with him. Not that he had any reason to really doubt it, considering all they had been through together, but even Chaonis was capable of a little self doubt now and then. Not a lot. But some. "I figure we can surprise them, or whatever. Or elope. Whatever you want." He grinned, knowing she would want to share the news. And why not? He wanted to go back to earth and shout it from the roof tops. In fact, he would probably be doing something similar to that once he got back into patrol routine. For now, he brought the trio, not leaving little Hadaya behind, back from the dust ball of his homeworld to their real home on Earth.
