Sylvia was left with another day of filling time. Since visiting home she had to wait until she could travel out again, and she was still unsure what her plan would be even if and when she did anyway. So for today she had decided to wander the grounds aimlessly – until it occurred to her to check on a rumor that she’d heard. Apparently there was a vault at the back of the Armory, with some sort of beast guarding it. None of the rumors turned into horror stories of any kind, so she figured it would be safe enough to investigate. Thus her trajectory changed, and she aimed for the Armory.

Along the way she had run into Lex, also wandering and occasionally looking down at their phone. She of course said hello. After finding out he was playing Pokemon Go, she made a quip about searching for ‘tiny invisible monsters,’ which segued nicely into asking him if he’d like to investigate with her the rumor of a larger, much more real monster apparently hidden away guarding a vault at the back of the Armory. And who wouldn’t be interested in that? Despite the fact that she hadn’t really expected him to join her, he’d seemed interested, and she was pleased to have a potential friend along for the ride.

“So, how have you been since coming back?” Sylvia hadn’t gotten much of a chance to talk with Lex at the Halloween party, so she decided to make up for it with some chatter on their way. They were close enough that a brief exchange of niceties would get them as far as the vault, but they could delve deeper into conversation if they wanted to after.

She opened the door for Lex when they reached the Armory. She still had a bit of hesitation entering a building solely used for storing weapons, but it only halted her for a moment before she was beside him and looking around at the decoration again. It was such a big place. And there was a dragon head. She wasn’t sure she’d ever get over the dragon head – at least, maybe not until she met a dragon herself. After the moment of observation, she spotted the door at the end of the building and gave Lex a nod. That was their target. She strolled with him to the other end and took a deep breath, halting before actually opening the door. “Well. Ready to see what’s back here?” She glanced over to offer Lex an intrigued smile.

Curiosity was something that Lex had in spades, rumor that there was a large monster hidden in the armory of all places was rather exciting. He grinned and followed, heading towards the building.

"Mmh? Okay. I mean, I got the stench of swamp out of my skin and hair. And my nails are no long notoriously ragged." Lex smiled. "Went home for a bit to pick up some of my things, talked a bit to my mom and sister." Clothes and shoes, and most importantly jackets. It would start getting cold soon.

"It is sort of pretty in here..." Lex said, walking around carefully, looking at the dragon head. He touch the door, running his thumb over the surface before nodding. "Lets go and see," He said and pushed open stepping inside.

It was gold. Bright and shining, and long and empty with towering columned and at the far end a creature sat.

'At the far end sits a Sphinx, watching them with narrowed cat eyes.

"Come Chosen, come Heroes, come show me what you are made of. If I like what I see, perhaps I'll grant you access to the treasures I guard..." '

Well, they certainly were at the right spot. "You ready for this?" He questioned softly.

Sylvia smiled to know that Lex had been able to enjoy their break. “All good things.”

Sylvia tilted her head a bit at Lex’s description, considering his alternate view of the space. “Yeah, I guess so.” She didn’t meant to be dismissive, and clarified, “It’s still overwhelming for me.” She nodded when Lex was ready to go inside, following close behind him.

The room beyond was breathtaking. It wasn’t terribly embellished, but even being only gold with simple columns, it was huge and impressive. She wasn’t sure how this was possible – they hadn’t gone underground, and she knew there wasn’t this much building on this end of the Armory. She only had a moment to admire it before the Sphinx’s voice called from the other end of the room.

Lex’s voice brought her back from straight-up staring at the Sphinx; which was good, because that probably wasn’t very polite of her. She looked to Lex with wide eyes, “Well. I guess we have to be…”

She felt strange so far from the other end of the room, so she began to slowly make her way towards the Sphinx. She took a deep breath before she asked the beast, “What is it you ask of us?” The Sphinx’s eyes didn’t waver as it watched them approach, and Sylvia very aware of being judged in some way. She hoped she wouldn’t regret her curiosity.

“Regale me with memories, defining tales of your past. Choose three important pieces of yourselves to share with the company here.”

Sylvia paused. Memories? Well…
