All things considered, this was a pretty great party. He was pretty sure someone had spiked the punch and that there were people outside partaking of illicit substances, but that wasn't his fight. Even if he was still a cop, Michigan was well out of his jurisdiction. Besides, he'd never liked being That Guy.
Of course Misha was to thank for it all. Even if he still felt a little awkward meeting new, a little bit of booze definitely helped. He'd been mulling around and trying to catch Misha in a moment when she wasn't entertaining one person or another, but they always seemed to be free at different times.
Finally he saw an opening, and he did walk a bit more briskly than usual and wrapped his arms around her neck from behind. He lacked a drink at the moment.
"Hello, Beautiful. Have a minute for me?" He kissed her head, just in case his voice wasn't enough to let her know who it was.

Barely a heartbeat of tension ran through Misha before her brain and body processed that it was Brian behind her, now wrapping around her, now kissing her head. She blamed the number of drinks consumed and the pleasant, buzzing warmth flowing through her veins. As if to make up for that negligible moment, the brunette relaxed back into his hold, sighed happily, and lifted her hands to rest on his forearms. She squeezed him closer for an instant. Then she released him and twisted in his hold. Instead of the accustomed gesture of winding her arms around his waist, she lifted them up and draped them around his neck. "For you?" she nearly purred. "Always, Handsome." She smiled. "Are you proposing something?"

Brian was grinning, and without much prompting. The warm fuzzies of just barely too much alcohol worked to make him more casual and loose, especially with those he already knew. Misha was an even more special case considering the affections they already shared.
"Marriage," he teased and resisted the urge to go nose-to-nose. He was still at a point where he could resist? Good. This pleased him. "Are you having fun? You're definitely busy. I haven't had time to catch you!"

"I'm having a a blast. Aren't you?" Recklessly, Misha leaned further into his hold until the length of her body was resting lightly against the length of his. "I hope so. I'm sorry I haven't spent more time with you. That's bad of me." She offered him a delicate pout. "Forgive me? I've missed you."

Don't kiss her. Don't. Kiss her.
They weren't dating, after all, and Rob had seemed pleased to hear as such. He didn't want to mislead anybody. ...well he probably shouldn't have approached her like this, then. Oh well!
"No, no. It's your party," he insisted, "I just wanted a minute." His arms fell from their perch and instead laced casually around her back. "Have time for a dance?" Misha seemed like the type who might like it, and he was feeling delightfully relaxed.

His question had her light up brighter than any of the little fairy lights she had used in decorating the gym. It was clearly the right thing to offer. Misha rocked forward slightly onto the balls of her feet, using the combination of motion and her heels to rise up high enough to be nose to nose with him. Her arms tightened around his neck to stabilize her position until she felt his breath against her lips. It derailed her thoughts for a moment and she lost herself in contemplation of his mouth. Hm. Maybe she had a bit more to drink than she had thought. Swallowing hard, she shifted away from temptation and moved to press her cheek to his. "I would love a dance," she whispered. "Fast or slow?"

It seemed that Misha was having the same thoughts, but that she was less willing to deny them. When she came up nose-to-nose with him, his grin contented itself with becoming a broad smile. Once again he had to resist the urge to kiss her. At least Misha had the same sort of idea and moved cheek-to-cheek. He nuzzled his slightly into hers. She was so soft. Soft and pretty and sweet...
"Mm, that depends on how you like it?" His teasing tone was obvious, but it remained an actual question. They could wait for a slow song or just head out right now. "I'm up for anything."

"Would it be greedy if I said I want both with you?" She drew back reluctantly, a soft smile on her face. Then she seemed to catch herself on the edge of a thought - something along the lines of how comfortable he was and how attractive and how this was a really nice position to be in - and laughed. "Oh, I don't care if you think I'm greedy," she declared. "I want both and I am willing to claim it as my Hostess' Right to get them." Her arms came away from his neck but one hand stayed in contact with his body, trailing down his arm to tangle her fingers in his. "Come on. I think I remember the order of this playlist and, if no one monkeyed with it, we have this a fast song coming up next and then a slow one."

"Tsk. Absolutely terrible." Nevermind the fact that he'd happily dance with her all night. She had hostessing to do, though. Tipsy or not, he couldn't keep her long. How many hostess points did she get for remembering the entire playlist?
He gladly laced his fingers with hers and followed her out to the dance-oriented space. There were people everywhere, but like any party it seemed that the idea of a dance floor was respected to some degree.

As soon as they reached a somewhat clear space, Misha spun on her heel and used their linked hand to bring him a bit closer. The playlist she had running on the laptop paused a split second and then slid into the next song, a rhythmic and extremely dance-able club tune. Fast and driving and a bit sassy. She was glad that she could still remember a lot of the tracks despite her blood-alcohol level. It would allow her uninterrupted dance time with Brian. "I hope you're up for this, Handsome," she warned with a laugh. Then she released his hand, counted until the music hit a down-beat, and immediately synced into it. Her eyes shone with the joy of motion.

Brian's head tipped up as the new song started, as if the music was coming from anywhere but the laptop. Sure, it was a bit fast, but he had some decent rhythm in him! In fact, he liked to think that some people might be surprised by how well the uptight ex-cop could actually move. He'd had a lot of practice dancing drunk, after all. It was just about the only time he could will himself too.
The momentary desire to do a horrible frat boy dance was shattered by Misha's expression. While it was always fun to make her laugh, she clearly expected him to dance with her. So he would. He'd never had classes like her, of course, but he had a rather large and rather mobile family. There was only a brief pause before he met up with Misha, not touching yet but dancing with. He grinned as he moved with her. For just this short while there was nobody else in the room.

The instant Brian moved into place opposite her, close but allowing them both to move, Misha lit up a bit more. There had been an iota of doubt that he actually would dance with her. Though, as he had been the one to offer, it was a very small iota. As she watched him match the beat with seeming ease, further warmth blossomed in her chest. Reaching out, she set one hand on his shoulder for stabilization before she sank into a low dip. Her eyes laughed at him, teasing and mischievous. "Hm, welp, I guess you definitely mean it."

Oh. Well then. Brian would be lying if he said he didn't appreciate Misha's dance skills. He knew how to move even beneath the tightness of his costume. He grinned as his partner dipped down, but then tilted his head in question. Meant "it?" Meant what? Had he forgotten something he'd said already? He performed a body roll as if to distract from this misunderstanding.

Misha laughed again, completely delighted at Brian's surprise ability. Though, when she thought about it past the pleasant haze of alcohol, she remembered that he had two sisters and they danced and he went to every single dance show they had. Maybe he picked it up by osmosis? As his body invaded her personal space slightly and then retreated, however, she knew that one never learned those kinds of moves in dance class. If his sisters had, Misha had a feeling that Brian would have locked them away in a nunnery. She giggled at the thought but then the music caught her attention again. She gave a little shimmy and squirm in delight.

She was happy! She was so happy, and he had had a part in it. That was the best facet of this all. He moved with Misha and watched her smile, touching her once and then continuing to show off (just a little) the mobility of his hips. He hadn't danced with anyone in a long, long time but it, like any social interaction, was easier with alcohol. Of course it helped that it was Misha, too. Most things seemed comfortable around her. He offered her a little wink.
