Prompt 2

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Rumors are spreading of a traveler who has entered the area. Apparently, this traveler has a strange item they claim comes from a different time. It's hard to believe what people are saying, and the only way to really know what is going on is if you see it with your own eyes. So, you make it a point to travel to where the traveler was last sighted, and as you approach you notice a crowd. The traveler is holding up an object, high above their head, and shouting across the crowd. Some approach to get a closer look, some appear fearful, but everyone can agree...this is something no one has ever seen before.

What exactly is the traveler showing off? Roll 1d6 to determine what strange item has been found using the guide below:

Rolled 1-2

The traveler pulls out a strange piece of metal, warped a bit on the edges and covered with an unknown language. It looked similar to what you've read, and you think you can make out words, but overall it doesn't make much sense.

Rolled 3-4

The traveler pulls out a strange piece of metal, wound around and almost bouncy in nature. It seems a bit sharp on the edges, but in general it looks like it could possibly be some sort of jewelry piece, if it was smaller.

Rolled 5-6

The traveler pulls two strange pieces of metal, which don't seem to go together outside of their color. One is covered in a language that sort of looks familiar, but isn't fully legible. The other is a winding spiral, which is too big to wrap comfortably around a wrist.

WC - 762

He was on his way back toward Tale after hearing the news that his Uncle had daughters. Shea was excited to be able to meet his cousins. As he got closer to a village he heard a crowd of people and grew a little curious. Could it be Uquin? Could he have unknowingly stumbled upon his healer uncle? Was he showing off his abilities? Shea got closer to the gathering of people but it wasn't his uncle that he saw at the center. It was another man. A salesman from the looks. Normally he would have just turned to walk away but something caught his attention.

"Take a look at this folks!" He called out to the crowd.

Everyone seemed captivated and as Shea looked around at everyone he saw their eyes slowly widen. So that brought the leaf boy's attention to what it was the man in the middle was doing. In that moment his own eyes grew in size. It looked like the man was holding some kind of relic from the past. It also looked rusty. Plus there were two different ones. A plain sheet of metal, that looked like it had some writing on it, and something that reminded him of a coil or a curl. It looked oddly familiar as if he might had seen something like it before. Not that he could put his finger on it right away.

"Objects of mystery! Wreckage from the world before!" The man gave more and more hype to the items he held, trying to make everyone around him that much more interested in them. "Ancient pieces!"

"What are they?" A woman in the crowd called out. "Are they dangerous?"

The people around her echoed her words giving confirmation that they were just as curious. Just as worried. Shea remained silent though. His curiosity was there but for the time being he had nothing to say that others hadn't said already. All his questions were coming out the mouths of those around him. He watched as the showman in the center put both items in one hand, balancing them delicately, so that he could use his free one to make a lowering motion.

"Now now folks! These are the remains from the past. Revel in their splendor!" He wanted to get everyone to appreciate everything. "We are taking them to scholars to be looked over. What secrets will we learn?"

Shea thought that the man was trying too hard to get people interested but his eyes kept going to the one with the writing. What did it say? Did it have some hidden secret? Was the answer to life written onto it's surface? It was anyone's guess he supposed. Since he wasn't likely to be able to get a closer look, and it wouldn't matter if he did since he wasn't as well educated as a scholar, there was no way that Shea would be able to know. Still, it left him with a taste for the knowledge. As the man with the weird things continued to talk to the crowd Shea's eyes were locked on the metal sheet. When the man turned it glinted in the light and that light seemed to make the writing stand out more. Almost as if it was being highlighted.

He had to wonder if the spirits were trying to tell him something. Were they purposefully making the words on the thing stand out? Or was it all just a trick of the light cleverly planned out by the man holding the mysterious things? The red headed boy moved his eyes away from the sheet of metal and looked instead at the spring. He wondered what it could be used for or more importantly what it had been used for. It didn't seem like it could have been any type of jewelry since it was much too large for a woman's wrist. Or a man's. Perhaps it was worn by a warrior? Around a muscled bicep? It was certainly something to consider but even still it looked as though it might be too thick to be very comfortable.

When he thought that he had seen enough and had been distracted from his trip home long enough he turned away from the spectacle. Shea sighed and started to walk away. With everyone else so occupied with seeing what the stranger held he decided that it would be best to go on to the next village. Trying to get supplies while everyone was so distracted would likely be impossible. Plus, his mind was elsewhere as well.
