Moani do this, Moani do that. Moani was tired of hearing her parents tell them what to do! So, when they had a bit of time away from their eyes, they escaped out of their home and out into the surrounding waters. What did parents know about having fun! All they wanted to do was clean, clean, and clean! Well no more! Moani was going out and no one was going to stop them from doing just that. Plus, they felt they’d done enough cleaning for the day, her parents could finish the rest right? They were old enough to do so.
The little Kaha’iko swamp fiercely away from her home afraid their parents might step out and see them swimming away from their chores and call them back. They finally made it to the forest of reeds and slowed down so their little lungs could catch up to the physical exertion they’d just pushed through. They were a very little thing, their parents told them they’d grow eventually, but they were physically weak as well… Something else their parents kept telling her she would grow out of. Well, when was this growing going to happen?! Moani was tired of waiting for it.
Usually they were told not to venture too far, but when did Moani ever do what their parents told him to do? They wanted to travel a bit, help others when they were finally ready. They didn’t plan on staying here for the rest of their life and they hoped their parents would understand that too. Moani sighed softly, sometimes growing up was not as easy as it seemed to be. Though Moani was going to make sure they had the proper skills before they moved out of their nest home, which would take a few more years still she reckoned.
Pausing, Moani spotted something shinny in the sand. They’d traveled quite a bit now, maybe a little too far but they didn’t think anything would get them. They swam up to the thing that was half buried in the sand and pulled a bit on it, it was no use though. It looked like mud and dirt kept it lodged below the surface and Moani was too weak to get it out. The Kaha’iko pouted and placed her hands on her hips.
“This isn’t fair!” Their brows furrowed, they wanted the shinny object and they we’re going to make sure they got it!

Hakulani liked the peacefulness of the reeds and often swam deep into them just to linger and look up at the sky. Sure, his view from under the water was skewed due to the ripples and currents twisting around him, but it was still interesting to see. The clouds would twirl around like spilled dye pooling into the water and his eyes would follow them naturally, as though he were the one moving them along. In a way, the clouds were like slow moving fish, waving themselves through a bright blue ocean. And, if he really wanted to delve deeper into the subject of similarities, maybe the wind was similar to the current of the sea around him.
He shifted, untangling his foot from a reed that had become twisted around his ankle, and sat up. The sand around him was disturbed, creating a cloud of dust that swirled around him and settled. He flipped over, intrigued by this phenomenon, and displaced more sand in an attempt to replicate it. Clouds! He'd made clouds! This was a monumental discovery! He had to write it down!
The boy swam upward and over the reeds, aiming to get home as quickly as possible and find his books, before glancing down as he saw more clouds of sand popping up below him. What was that? He wasn't causing that.He wiggled down and squinted, only to lean back and retreat behind a patch of reeds. It was another child, a small one at that! When had they gotten here? He peered out toward them, his expression between quizzical and perplexed, and shimmied behind the reeds again.
Maybe they hadn't seen him yet.Tasinei /COUGHS Sorry for taking so long.
