Rumors are spreading of a traveler who has entered the area. Apparently, this traveler has a strange item they claim comes from a different time. It's hard to believe what people are saying, and the only way to really know what is going on is if you see it with your own eyes. So, you make it a point to travel to where the traveler was last sighted, and as you approach you notice a crowd. The traveler is holding up an object, high above their head, and shouting across the crowd. Some approach to get a closer look, some appear fearful, but everyone can agree...this is something no one has ever seen before.

The traveler pulls out a strange piece of metal, wound around and almost bouncy in nature. It seems a bit sharp on the edges, but in general it looks like it could possibly be some sort of jewelry piece, if it was smaller.

Zandala tested the strong on her bow by pulling with two fingers; she tested its strength and flexibility before grabbing one of her arrows and notching it. She didn’t pull it yet though; she stayed slightly bent, yes on the target as she took in her breaths. She always felt this was the crucial moment before one sent an arrow flying. Certainly during a war you didn’t have time to watch your breathing, but this was what this training was for. You leaned to breathe, learned to notch that arrow in one breath, pull the string in another, and finally release the arrow on target in the third breath.

Three breathes was all it took to kill something.

The tall Alkidike swiftly pulled herself up straight, arms pulling back the string as she breathed in and then without even blinking she released the breath while releasing the arrow. Making a short and soft whistling sound before it planted itself into the target. Zandala put the bow by her side and smiled at her work. She’d hit the center. Granted this wasn’t a moving target either, it was easier to do things in practice. But she knew she could hit a moving target too.

The sound of excited voices coming from a few of her sisters as they walked by behind her pulled her from her training. They all seemed to be talking about some sort of man yelling about some piece of metal he’d found. It was rare for the sisters to go to any Yaeli camp, but it did happen when they needed other supplies then what they could find themselves. Curious, Zandala listened in on what they were doing with one ear while she shot a few more arrows. She wasn’t really the overly curious type, but this did seem kind of interesting.

Walking over to her target, Zandala put down her bow and pulled each arrow one by one with one hand. She put them all away before grabbing her bow again and making her way to their city center. She kind of felt like going to see what all the fuss was about, a few of the other sisters also seemed to be speaking about this mysterious stranger and Zandala always wanted to get the facts with her own two eyes. There was no better way to determine what was just fancy talk and what the actual facts were.

The tall Alkidike made her way to the Yaeli camp closes to them; it had shrunk a little in population since their arrival but still seemed to be in good shape otherwise. It was easy to find the yelling man; all the Yaeli seemed to shy away from him frightened. The Yaeli were practically afraid of their own shadows, it was quite unbecoming. Zandala ignored most of them and walked right up to the man. The Yaeli around her moved right out of her way, while the sisters who had gathered at the front made room for her.

The thing he was holding was large and definitely metallic. Zandala didn’t think it looked like anything vaguely familiar. The man seemed to think it was from a time long gone and that was possible but they didn’t really have any references for that now did they? Zandala stood there listening to him for a few minutes until she’d heard his whole yelling cycle before she finally decided to head back to the camp. She didn’t think it looked like anything they ought to be worrying about. Though that metal had looked sharp and Zandala wouldn’t have minded getting her hands on it to make some nice arrow heads.

She thought about asking him for the item and thought better of it, she’d need to find a blacksmith to be able to get the thing in a proper shape and right now she didn’t think it was worth it. Zandala stayed for a few more minutes, talking to some of the sisters around her before she decided to head back home. First she didn’t really like staying so long surrounded by the Yaeli, and secondly she didn’t think she could garner any more information from staying around and listening to him.

Zandala turned and left the gathered group and headed home. Maybe she’d get in more training, maybe she’d check in on her daughters. They we’re getting so much older now, they roamed freely around and it worried Zandala a little but she knew Lumikani and her had raised them right. They’d raised them strong.
