When Bellite had requested a trip to the Dark Kingdom, Sanidine wasn't necessarily happy to oblige, but he wasn't really happy with anything right now. He was compliant at least and agreed to meet her to teleport her to Negaspace so she could spend some time in the library.

When he showed up, it was a bit earlier than she said--but he could teleport, and she didn't have that luxury, yet. He was leaning against a wall, scowl on his face and hands jammed deep into his pockets. His brows were furrowed and he was glaring at the ground as he waited.

It was the first time Evan wasn't with him, but there was a great reason for ******** Lysithea had stolen him.

Of course, Sanidine knew he could summon Evan back, he just didn't know what it would do to him. Summoning him from the Rift, or Negaspace? Or while they were both in Destiny City? Sure, that was easy. But if Lysithea had disappeared--where had she gone? Realistically, he figured it was her homeworld, but he knew very little of homeworlds.

Only that they were deep in space and far away.

Maybe Evan hadn't even survived the trip there? Maybe if he tried to summon him now, Evan would wind up dusted halfway between there and Earth--and if that happened, who knew if he'd even reappear?

He grit his teeth and clenched his hands into fists in his pocket. He tried to keep his face impassive, but for all his abilities to lie, it just wasn't happening tonight. All he could do was wait, and as soon as he was done here, he was probably going to go back to loitering in the area where he'd last seen Lysithea and hope she popped up there when she came back down.

Bellite had hoped to beat Sanidine at the rendezvous point, and she was quite disappointed to find out that this was not the case. Well. So much for trying to make a good impression, even at ten minutes early her General was still waiting on her to get there.

“General Sanidine. Good evening.” Her eyes searched around the area, looking for the small fluffy youma that was always with her general, but she didn’t see him…and on top of that…she didn’t feel him either.

In fact…upon closer inspection of her General…he looked stressed. Well…that wasn’t really a good sign…was he perhaps upset that she was late? No…he couldn’t be, as she was ten minutes earlier than the time she set…

“…Is everything all right, Sanidine? You look upset.” Honestly, she hoped her concern and curiosity weren’t about to get her yelled at. Sure she thought she was older than the general…but he was stronger by far then she was, and getting in a fight tonight was not on her list of fun things to do.

Sanidine pushed himself from the wall when she approached. He shrugged at her question, initially intending on brushing it off. His anger was already bubbling over though, and he couldn't keep it in.

"Got into a spot of trouble with a Senshi. It was stupid," he said, shrugging with a little more force. "She knew Evan, from before he was a youma. So I thought it would do him some good to let him see her ever now and then. Besides, she wanted to help him. But," he rolled the word around in his mouth and somehow managed to spit it out with disdain. "She decided that somehow my research wasn't the best thing for him and took him."

His lip curled and he scoffed. "I don't know where. Probably her homeworld. I thought about summoning him back, but I didn't want to hurt him. I can get him from Destiny City, the Rift. But deep space? ...That's a long trip. Don't want to hurt him. So all I can do is wait."

And think about what she'd said.

“A senshi…kidnapped Evan? Oh my god, is he going to be all right? Is she going to kill him?” So maybe that wasn’t the best thing to ask, Sanidine seemed horribly worried and if that added to his worry…well…whoops. Bellite bit her bottom lip and thought for a moment, trying to quell the awful rush of curiousity that flooded through her at the mention of…homeworld. What did that even mean?

“I…I’m sorry for asking so many questions…but what do you mean by homeworld? Her homeworld? Are you saying…she doesn’t live here on earth? She…she’s in space right now? With Evan?”

The lieutenant felt as though her head was spinning. Now this was information that she had never really even dreamed of.

“I…I’m sure he’ll be back soon…” The condolence was weak, and delivered far too late to really matter, but honestly…that was to be expected after such a rush of information!

Sanidine just seemed to brush off her concern. She couldn't kill Evan--or so, he told himself. Or so he hoped. Lysithea wouldn't do that to him. She wanted to save Evan, just the same as he did.

He nodded when she suggested he'd be back soon; he wasn't sure he believed it, but he could hope.

And if he wasn't, there'd be hell to pay

"Homeworld's basically a Senshi's planet. It's the thing that they're tied to, the thing that gives them magic. Worlds that have been lost in the throes of time. Mostly because the Seshi found some way to destroy it, or their own gross negligence. Basically, it's a dead world, in outer space, that they can reach. She lives on Earth though, it's just. We were all born here, they just don't belong here. It's why we're trying to fight them--because there are so many of them just popping up here. It's unnatural, it's messing things up. They get enough power together and--who knows? They could easily destroy Earth, same as they destroyed all of their worlds."

Bellite listened to his explanation with a hungry look in her eyes. How...how interesting. More interesting than she could have hoped for, to be honest. The senshi could do all that? Now, from her meeting with Mira, she knew that they were at least named after...space objects, or at least that one was...but…

“They can actually go up to space? How do they breathe? What do they do up there?” This wasn’t the time for questions, she knew that...but she couldn’t help herself.

Shaking her head, the lieutenant curled her hands into fists, wishing that there were books that would cover this subject...and wishing that those books were clutched in her hands at this very moment.

“...So Evan’s in space? For a little guy...he travels well, doesn’t he...but, but I’m sure he’ll be all right. I’m sure that the senshi won’t hurt him...I met a senshi the other day...and she was stupid. But nice. She was nice. And quite idealistic...Evan will be back soon, General, I’m sure of it.”

There...that was consoling, even if she was still burning with curiosity.

"I don't know," Sanidine replied with barely hidden exasperation. Right now he wasn't in the right mind frame to think about how Senshi got away with doing anything.

"I guess, magic, is just how they get everything done. I haven't spent enough time in space to know exactly what they're doing. Probably honing their powers or," he shrugged, "Who knows. Plotting. Getting stronger. Trying to find secrets to give them an advantage against us here on Earth."

...But he doubted Evan would have helped Lysithea accomplish any of those, so there had to be another reason.

He tore his mind away from thoughts of Senshi. "Evan's always gotten around," he answered tired. "I didn't even know he'd made friends with a Senshi until after he'd been youmafied. And I lived with the guy. Or, rather. He'd been crashing on my couch for a few months. You'd think I'd have noticed."

...His fault for not asking. But then, back then--had he really cared? It was only now that he even felt guilty at all about how he'd treated Evan.

"He'll be back. In one piece or a few, I know he'll be back. He's resilient, in his own way. Crybaby though," he mused, almost fondly. Still, he was bitter and angry and it was hard to hide.

He cocked his head to the side. "What were you doing with a Senshi, though? Tell me what happened."

He might have been distracted--but he still cared about her. She was, after all, his Lieutenant.

...So he needed to take care of her.

Bellite knew she should shut up. She could see that he was upset and that he didn’t want to hear any more of her questions, but she really...couldn’t help it. “You’ve been up to space? That’s…” She swallowed and tried to calm the excitement from her face. “That’s a topic for another time, I’m sorry. Um, yes, the senshi I met. Well she was in the park and I wasn’t sure what she was or who she was, and I decided to approach, for scientific reasons...she was nice, honestly. Like I said, a little…”

The lieutenant paused, then shrugged. “I really don’t want to sound mean, because she wasn’t...stupid. Not stupid, that’s not what I’m trying to say, she was just...like a child. With a view of the world that is completely unreasonable. We talked, and she gave me a cupcake, she said she was on patrol, it was interesting.”

She fell quiet for a moment. “Though...I suppose I could have not been so interesting. I suppose perhaps...it was a bit stupid. I could have been hurt. I should wait to have my lessons from you first, huh?”

Sanidine's anger seemed like it had curbed--just a bit. Having something else to focus on, something he could be at least a little distracted with was enough to keep him from constantly thinking about what Lysithea was doing...

His hand clenched into a fist and he had to force his grip to relax. He reached up and rubbed at his eyes.

"We'll have them," he promised.

...Maybe not when he was seeing red, but soon. The last thing he wanted to do was accidentally beat the s**t out of her because he was having a hard time controlling his anger.

"Let me get Evan back and then I'll text you, we'll start practice."

He moved his hand to give her a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Sounds like you did good, though."

She was still alive and in one piece--luckier than some on their first run in.

"The important thing to remember is that, if they feel strong--just run. Don't even try to talk, just get away. If they start acting violent, just run. Text me if you can, I'll come get you. I don't want you to get hurt."

Bellite nodded. “That sounds great. I really hope you get him back soon, General. Don’t worry about taking me to the library tonight, I don’t want you to stress out over me as well as him. Just let me know when you’ve got him back and I’ll start back on the research.”

She smiled and moved a few steps away from Sanidine. “I’ll remember your advice, I won’t get into any trouble that I can’t handle…or I’ll try not to, at least. And you, don’t stress out to much, he’ll come back. He’ll come back and he’ll be all right, I know he will.” The lieutenant flashed another quick smile and suppressed a sigh. She didn’t like feeling this useless, but really didn’t want to burden the younger General with having to ferry her to the library and back. She could help out later. She would help out later…but he had to get back his youma so she could help. So she could have something to help.

“Text me as soon as you find him, okay? Let me know because I’m a big worry wart. See you, General Sanidine. Take care.”

Bellite wasn’t going to risk meeting another senshi before she had some self defense lessons with her General…he was right about that. Things could get dangerous…even though they hadn’t yet…they could. She wasn’t really a fan of the danger, so she wasn’t going to go getting in over her head.

Most likely. Not on purpose, anyway.

Sanidine watched her for a minute and then reluctantly nodded. "Raincheck on the library, though. And soon. I'll text you so we can work something out. And," he nodded his head. "I'll text you when Evan's back."

He had to force his anger into the pit of his stomach but he managed a short, dry smile, for her.

"You take care. I'll see you soon."

He nodded once more, this time as a goodbye, and then turned.

...He had to wait, but he couldn't do it patiently. Instead, he patrolled the area where he'd last seen Lysithea and Evan.
