The universities have collected in Leviathan. Those who were around Leviathan at the time as well as students are settled within the auditorium. The recent television broadcast has left plenty on the edge of their seat, but it seems school administrators cannot be found. Even some professors were bunched in with the students though they do not know what is going on. The doors are sealed magically, preventing people from escaping.
Food, water, and games have been handed out before those in authority vanished. If one listens closely to the door they'll hear worried and slightly panicked voices from behind it. Whoever is behind it seems worried and distressed.
When the crowd grows particularly quiet, though, they'll hear the faint sound of something rushing past the windows. Are those wild animals? Probably. The mass moving of hundreds of students to Leviathan must have startled the local wildlife.
What to Do: Currently, there isn't much to do except getting to know one another and theorizing what is happening. Attempting to leave will only result in being escorted back by police, and the doors are magically sealed for now. There isn't a way out, so you might as well get comfy where you are.
The next round will begin November 4th, 2016.
There may be minor updates before then to this thread, so keep an eye out while RPing.
Note: Your character can be found here if they were near a university at the time of the mass evacuation.

Adalyn sat in the libary, a huge law tome open in front of her. She was practicing memorizing laws relating to child custody in Below. It was quite a complex topic, especially considering the cache. She closed her eyes, mouthing the words to a law, and then opened then, to check to see if her definition was correct. She smiled as she read it back. Exactly correct. She moved on to the next term, and closed her eyes again.
That was when the alarm rang. It was piercing and loud. The hybrid couldn't help but jump. It was just ... alarming. Adalyn frowned. This didn't really sound like a drill, but could it actually be anything else? How could it? Flipped the huge tome shut, out of habit and grabbed her backpack before hurrying towards the auditorium. There was a flood of students and staff, all rushing to get in.
She was surprised when she saw the portal. So to Leviathan it was. She shrugged to herself. Someone had a plan, at least. Stepping through she blinked as she emerged in the other school's auditorium. The broadcast still playing, on loop it seemed.
She shuffled towards a seat as close to the exact centre as she could. Adee wanted a good view of everything that was going on. Once she figured out exactly what it was. More and more Nightmares and Daydreams poured in, filling the room. Some staff had gone around handing out food and snack. Adee lost sight of them in the crowds after a while. She sighed, and hauled a textbook out of her bag. Might as well study while she had the chance.
Abruptly the tv playing on loop at the front began to scream. Adalyn jumped again. She simply couldn't help it. She felt the hair on her arms and the back of her neck raise. ... That couldn't be good. And then there was static. And then the broadcast. She could feel her mouth hanging open. Could that be true? What this ... creature was saying? And she couldn't unglue her eyes from the Imp.
The broadcast cut off, and there was a brief moment of silence. Then general panic. Adalyn stayed in her seat, clutching her book to her chest. She glanced around at the milling crowd. Where were the staff? She narrowed her eyes. Whatever this was, it wasn't good. And that poor Imp. She sat rooted in her seat, listening to the buzz of terror around her.

Kanako sat at the trunk of a tree near the front of the Grendel University library. Her tails curls around her as she absent-mindedly watched the other Nightmares going from class to class. The Kumiho had been exceedingly excited about integrating back into the world with the other races, and likely spent far too much time people watching than she did actually paying attention to the lectures in her classes.
Suddenly, a loud, shrill alarm began to go off and Kanako's ears perked to attention, the hairs on her tail beginning to rise. Hearing the calls to head to the nearest portal immediately, Kanako cautiously made her way to the one that had appeared directly in front of the library. She watched a few other students rush into the portal, before deciding that she should follow them.
Stepping through the portal, Kanako blinked slowly, trying to take in the scene unfolding around her. There was a television up on a nearby wall, and a figure was on it waving it's arms around and talking in a rather serious tone. She tried to listen to what the figure was saying, but found the words coming from them just didn't make sense... someone had stolen stones and experimented on them? Why were they taking it out on everyone?
Kanako frowned and wrapped her tails around herself, looking around the room for signs of someone in charge, someone who might be able to make sense of everything. Or perhaps it would be better to just listen to the various frightened Nightmares and Daydreams talking around her, and see what information she could pick up that way. Quote: SUP GAIS, Kanako wants to figure s**t out, anyone wanna team up?

Adalyn had spent quite enough time sitting and listening, as far as she was concerned. Her eyes had swept back and forth through the crowd, but no one seemed to be in charge. That struck her as decidedly odd. Three universities worth of students, some of the best and brightest in Above and Below, and no one seemed to be in charge? The was unusual at best. And that message on the TV certainly did not fit into best.
She rammed her law textbook back into her backpack, and slung it over one shoulder. Getting out of her chair, she made her way towards the front of the auditorium, watching the crowd carefully. She noticed a Kumiho standing alone, who also seemed to be watching. That seemed like a solid place to start.
Adalyn sidled up the other girl, hoping she didn't have an issued with Halloweds. Though, perhaps given the current situation that particular bias would be forgotten. "Hey, I'm Adalyn. Have you spotted anyone who's in charge?"
They were near one of the windows, and when the conversation around them lulled, a strange rushing noise could be heard. Adee hadn't heard it at all before, having stationed herself firmly in the middle of the room. She furrowed her brow. What on Below could that sound be?

Chervil found himself strangely calm during all of this madness, a strange contrast to his normal, worrywart demeanor when everything was normal and as it should be. There were those who might find this odd of the dryad, but those few that knew him well knew that in times like these, he followed his own advice that he so diligently drilled into his students' heads; in a crisis, panic was your absolute worst enemy.
He had been in his class teaching when the message had been broadcast all over the area to vacate the school via the nearest portal. Rising from his desk, he walked over to the door and ushered his meager class out into the quickly crowding corridors. The portal had led to Leviathan, and as he led his students through, he made sure they were well settled with food and what entertainment could be sufficiently distracting before looking around him for answers, finding only panic and wild theories.
He was looking around in vain for anyone who looked even remotely in charge when the electronics that had been broadcasting the evacuation message so long he had all but tuned it out began to scream as though in collective agony. He gasped and held his hands up to his ears before looking at one of the many screens, which had filled with static. Were they finally going to say what was going on and the reason behind all of this madness?
Whatever he was expecting to hear or see, what he got was as far from it as he could imagine. He stood with his mouth open at the broadcast, willing his mind to process what was clearly English but still made no sense. Stealing stones? Experiments? Children that fed on the living? This sounded more like some kind of vehement prank in the wake of the Haunted Hallows celebration. But the panic in the eyes of that poor little imp was all too real.
When the transmission ended, the room was filled with all manner of sounds: screams, little ones crying and wailing, angry shouts and half-hysterical plans of doing something, anything, except staying there and waiting for this she to come and have her way with them all. Refusing to let himself be swept away with the panic, Chervil sought out a slightly quieter part of the auditorium, where the sounds around him were more quiet and speculative whispers. At first he thought it sounded like there were more people there than he had thought, but then he grew to realize that there was a strange sound coming from outside; a sort of murmur, or rushing water perhaps? Odd.
Looking around him once more, he noticed two students who seemed relatively collected in spite of all this, and he walked toward them, hoping they wouldn't see him as threatening with all of the fear and trouble running like currents throughout the room. "Hello there; are you two doing alright?"

As Kanako observed the panic around her, she noted that during moments of silence there was an odd noise coming from outside. The Kumiho's ears twitched this way and that, trying to decide on a source of the noise. This distraction nearly caused Kanako to not notice a Hallowed green haired girl approach and introduce herself as Adalyn.
Blinking rapidly to try and bring herself back to attention, Kanako smiled at the girl," I haven't... I don't think there is anyone here who is really in charge." with that, her mouth turned from a smile to a slight frown, her brows furrowing in thought, it was rather peculiar that there was no one who seemed to be in charge watching over the students gathered.
Part way through this thought, another person approached, asking the two students about their well being. Kanako eyed him suspiciously, he looked a bit authoritative, but she wasn't entirely certain he was "in charge" in any sense of the meaning. Kanako's tails flicked about, hairs once more beginning to stand on end. "Are you in charge? Do you know what's going on?", the Kumiho inquired in an aggressive tone. She hadn't meant for her voice to come out that way, but given the situation seemed a bit severe, she felt that it was understandable.

She nodded to the Kumiho. Good, she hadn't missed seeing someone who was in charge. "It's very strange. There has to be someone around here in charge. " She hadn't caught the other girl's name, but that did particularly bother her. Finding any cool headed ally in a time of panic like this was a boon.
A Dryad approached them, and inquired about their well being. He seemed a bit older than them, and also seemed calm. Another boon. In unpredictable situations like this anyone who could remain calm was useful. "I'm Adalyn. And I believe we're both okay. What about you?" The Kumiho girl's questions were a touch sharper than hers, but really, what was to be expected in such a situation.
"I think we need to find whoever's in charge here. They probably know more than we do. " There was another natural lull in conversation, and that rushing noise filled her ears again. It made them twitch. " Do either of you know what that noise is?"

Not at all troubled by the Kumiho's tone, Chervil only smiled at her with a touch of sadness. "I'm afraid not, and I know just as much as the two of you. Perhaps even less, since I've arrived recently." Of course there was no way to tell if he had been there before or after the two, but either way he felt that just about anyone would know more than he would about their given situation. Perhaps it was his calmer demeanor that gave others the impression that he might actually know something. Well, sad to say they would find themselves disappointed.
Chervil nodded and smiled at the Hallowed, who identified herself as Adalyn. "Very nice to meet you, Adalyn. My name is Chervil; I teach Survival Skills at the Community College." He sighed a bit and looked around. "Given the circumstances, I find it counterproductive to panic, especially when not all of the facts are known. But it doesn't seem that any more facts are forthcoming. I do wish they would at least see fit to keep us updated, even if the news is just that there IS no news."
He tilted his head slightly, listening to the strange rushing sound. If he didn't know any better, he would say it resembled something like a strong wind, like something you would encounter in a desert that would kick up sand and bury unsuspecting travelers until no trace was left. But how could there be such a thing around here? He turned back to Adalyn. "At this point, your guess is as good as mine. Although.......perhaps those people who broadcast that message have something to do with it. Some kind of malicious magic, to ensure we stay in one place?"....... It was a rather alarming notion, but he stated it simply as though it were a fact of life instead of a potential part of a nefarious plot.

As if suddenly realizing her rudeness in not giving her own name, the Kumiho blurted out hastily,"I'm Kanako." she paused, looking between the one called Adalyn and the other called Chervil, who was apparently a teacher, despite not being in charge or being informed on what was happening.
Kanako wondered how bad it must be if a teacher wasn't up to date one what was happening, she shivered slightly, hoping that the situation wasn't too dire.
"That noise isn't one of Kumiho magics, if it is indeed some kind of barrier... or at least no magic I've ever seen or heard.", the blue haired girl fidgeted, she hadn't considered that going through the portal that brought her here might lead to being trapped in this place. "Are we safe here?", Kanako asked her two companions, hoping that the answer to her question would be some form of 'yes'.

The always practical hybrid smile at Chervil. "So, you're the exact person we'd want to be stranded with. I'm a law student at Asterion, so that's not nearly as practical in this case." ... Or in most cases.
She put her hands on her hips, and surveys the room, wings fluttering slightly. " I really don't care for those sounds. And I feel like your guess might be all too close to the truth." Adalyn furrowed her brow. If it was malicious magic, that wouldn't be good at all. Yet, it didn't surprise her. If these others had been experimented on, there was a sold chance that they were associated with the universities. So, really, where else would they go? She'd gathered that these safehouses weren't exactly in secret location, either. Likely these others knew exactly where they were, too. Not a pleasant thought.
She continued scanning the room, and caught sight of the door up at the front. "Do you think we should go check that door?"

Abrus FabalesSeniorAbrus frowned and tapped his hooves as he was forced from his class for some evacuation or something. It was infuriating! He had been trying to prefect his dancing, while practicing his music. He was so excited to incorporate what he was learning into his act. The television turned on and the kirin's attention was on the screen. His frown deepened with each word the person on the television uttered, and his tail swished anger. "How dare they!" Abrus snorted, his hooves adding to the noise of his outrage. "They are letting this trash disturb our education?!" Then the person on the television went on, speaking about terrible things like dark magic and cannibalism. Abrus went pail, his tail froze, and his stomping stopped.

Celedrin Hornwood “Oh no, oh no, oh no...”
Celedrin stood in the centre of the auditorium, looking pale and slightly sick. To be fair, his complexion was naturally pale with a green tint, but his current shade might more aptly be described as “ghostly”. He looked as though he were about to pass out. Judging from how quickly he was hyperventilating, a fainting spell might not have been that far out either.
Staggering through the crowd, Celedrin searched desperately for an exit. He needed to leave. They all did. Trapped in here as they were, it would be like shooting fish in a barrel. They were lambs to the slaughter, a feast for the crows, lemmings being led to the water, a Saturnalia of blood... or to be more concise and less graphic: doomed. A weighty word, and one that had no doubt suffered from over-usage, but fitting for the situation at hand.
“Oh dear, oh my... excuse me!” Celedrin continued to weave his way through the crowd. It was not an easy task, as the crowd grew rowdier by the minute. Not to mention his vision was getting a bit cloudy. “I'm just looking for... Oh, sorry! Bother. Never mind me, just... Oops. Now wait... No, no... please don't shove! Not that—oof!”
As someone stepped into him, Celedrin lost his balance and tipped backwards. He collided with another nightmare heavily. The other was larger than himself, but nevertheless down they both went. Disentangling himself from the mess, Celedrin whirled to apologise. His eyes were wide. “I beg your pardon,” he gasped out. “I never meant for...”
It all proved to be too much for the imp. He clutched at his chest as his breath ran out. The darkening corners of his vision crept in. He sank to the floor, struggling for air.

Nodding enthusiastically at the Dryad girl, Kanako bounded towards the indicated doors. Tugging on the handle, the Kumiho was surprised to find that it did not budge, and appeared to be quite locked. A feeling of dread washed over Kanako, whose eyes were now locked on the door with a sort of thousand yard stare.
After what felt like an eternity, Kanako turned slowly back towards the other two, a grimace creeping onto her face. "I... it's locked." she wasn't sure what else to say, though she was sure what she was saying was relatively obvious. She turned back to the door, her eyebrows furrowing once again, the Kumiho gingerly set her hands against it, as if it might burn her. Kanako leaned into the door with one of her ears cocked towards it straining for any sound that might be on the other side.
Her brows knitting ever closer together, Kanako's grimace deepened. The sounds were muffled, but she could hear enough to tell whoever the voice belonged to was panicked, or at least upset. In her mind, she began to think about what the person on the television had said, the memories of it causing the dread she had felt only moments ago to seep well into her skin, causing the girl to begin to panic internally. The Kumiho pulled away from the door, her eyes blank once more as she chewed at the nails on her hand.

Adalyn watched Kanako bound toward the door, a half smile on her face. Well, enthusiasm in the face of the unknown was certainly desirable. She followed after, more slowly, hoping Chervil would join them. With some dismay, she watched the Kumiho pull on the door and then find it locked.
"I don't like that it's locked. " The other girl pressed her ear to listen, and then pulled back, chewing on her nails. Adalyn frowned, and pressed her own ear to the door. There was muffled talking behind the door, and they didn't sound happy. Not surprising.
But this was almost certainly where the authority figures were. Adalyn knocked firmly on the door. "Hello? Can whoever is in there come out and speak to us for a moment?" She tried to use her most calm and authoritative voice.

Kiera had been studying hard, lost in a medical text at the library when the alarms sounded. She assumed it was a just a drill, but picked up her stuff and headed for the auditorium anyway. Drills were important they provided useful safety skills and helped prevent panics in actual emergencies. Besides- she reasoned, she would be going through a great many drills in the future of her medical/healer career.
As she reached the auditorium she found a quiet spot in the corner, near to the exit so she could be among the first out once the drill was over. Seeing as her family had graciously put in all the effort to let her come below she was quite serious about her studied. But soon she began to sense a change in the crowd- even though people had basics covered there was a tension rising- and then the Broadcast happened.
Unable to help herself Kiera found she was joining the clusters of bodies near the center of the pack. She watched the broadcast in growing horror, having to look away as the poor little imp was tossed about, and just froze in place at the speaker’s final words. She was in a state of shock she dimly realized as she took stock of herself. Unconsciously she huddled and pulled her bag closer to her.
She was not sure how much time had passed but a commotion broke out nearer to her as she watched an imp collided with another kirin and they both fell to the ground. She watched as they disengaged from one another- and as the Imp began to faint it stirred her into an automatic reaction that over-road even the shock.
Quickly she wound her way through the people. some of whom hadn't noticed the imp falling again. Her voice rang out loud and commanding. "Make way please!" as she pushed to the imps side and dropped to her knees. Quickly she assessed the imp- rolling them gently to their back, straightening their limbs. She grabbed a nearby backpack to elevate the imps legs in order to restore blood flow to the brain. She looked at the imps clothing, quick sure hands loosening their collar below the neck ruff and checked for breathing...
She was utterly absorbed in her “patient” not noticing when the Television sprang to life again.
